Story
Bonded with her sister Sammie DD and her sister found themselves homeless when their family lost their home. DD is almost 8 years old and weighs 12 pounds. She is very attached to her sister, and we’d like to place them together, but we haven’t had any luck. DD is a Yorkshire Terrier and loves being a cuddle bug and hanging out with you.    She is working on her potty training and doing great but she does still have pee accidents in the house if she doesn’t have a chance to go out. She needs a very consistent routine where she can be taken out every 2 hours.    For this reason, she needs a home with someone that is retired or works from home.    She is crate trained and can go for up to 4 hours in the crate during the day without an accident.    She can also make it through the night.    She likes to sleep on your bed but she wants to pottie first thing as soon as you get up.    She doesn’t like to go outside alone and needs you to walk into the yard with her and stay there while she wanders around. She will sometimes use a pee pad in the house but she’ll also mistake a small rug for a pee pad so those need to be pulled up.    Continued house training will need to be a priority in her new home. We’ve been working on this for 5 months and we’re still working on it so her new adopter will have to be committed to this process and very, very patient because there will be accidents. DD loves toys and she carries one in her mouth most of the time. She is a very yappy little dog, like most Yorkies.    DD loves everyone she meets even though she barks at them at first.    She is wonderful with children but does not want to be with children that would be rough with her.    DD is spayed, heartworm negative and current on her vaccines. She just had a dental and had two teeth removed so she’s all set.    Her adoption fee is $350.    An application, references, and a home visit are required.   Age: 8yrs Weight: 12lbs Temperament: Good with respectful kids, ok with dogs and  cats Training: Crate- and potty pad trained; working on potty outside Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative Contact: doggieharmonyatlanta@gmail.com (Amy) We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.  April 25, 2024, 8:08 am

Story
Chip Charlie is a 5 pound yorkie with very long legs! This little guy couldn't be sweeter! He's a lap dog, very friendly, and loves being out and about meeting people. Chip gets along with small dogs, but also enjoys being an only dog.   He loves to go outside for walkies, and will need to go out often to potty. If I leave the house, I put him in his pen, and he likes it. He wasn't potty trained, so he wears a male wrap when running around the house.    This sweet boy is listed as 8 years old (possibly older), and does have some medical needs. He has a little arthritis, so he is on a medicine for inflammation, and he has a slight heart murmur, so he is on a tiny tablet for that. He will have a dental surgery in a couple of weeks and will have several teeth pulled. His back legs have gotten so much stronger now that he is getting daily walks, and he has plenty of pep.   Chip certainly enjoys crawling under the covers of the bed to sleep at night, and he told me that this is a must have. He would love a home where he gets lots of gentle love, brushing, walkies, and car rides! He is happy and is excited to begin his new life of love, attention, and adventures. Story
Meet Boot - a sweet, 6.5 year old, male, Yorkie mix! Was it his glamour shots that got your attention? I just bet it was! Boot has a wonderful multi-colored coat with blonde “highlights” and the most adorable little face that will melt your heart. Boot’s current weight is 5 pounds. Boot is a healthy boy, but does have a cataract in one eye and is blind in that eye. It does not affect his daily activities in any way.   Boot is a calm and shy little dude. It takes him a little time to warm up to new people. Once he is at ease, he does get along with older and younger children, men and women, and small dogs. Boot enjoys his lap time, so don’t leave him at home alone for too long.   He is working hard on his potty training, but isn’t quite there yet. He does wear a belly band at night in his crate in case of accidents. Boot has been recently neutered, which should help with his potty training. In addition, Boot’s leash training is going great. According to his foster mom, he does well on a leash, but also enjoys exploring the backyard.   So now that you have read all about this little guy named Boot, are you interested in making him part of your family? If so, fill out an application asap! How can you say no to that sweet little face? Story
Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
