Story
WHAT A HANDSOME GUY! Winston is a possible yorkie and poodle mix ("Yorkie Poo") who came to us as a stray in an unkempt condition. His coat was very matted and had to be shaved. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for heartworms and our rescue cannot return him . We are committed to his care and treatment plans. Winston is a very sweet boy who is playful with other dogs and can entertain himself. He hardly barks and is housetrained, using the kitty door. He is calm when meeting new people. He does not know he is "sick" as he is still active and playful. He will be a great dog for a senior person. Winston has TONS of love to give and he truly deserves the best life from this point onwards. He is being cared for with a foster mom, in a private home with a backyard to relax in. He just finished oral antibiotics and his first treatment will be on April 18, followed by 30 days of restricted activity. His second and last treatment will be May 18, followed by restricted activity again. In fact, after his second treatment, he will be adoptable to the right family who can and will continue on with his aftercare for another month. Winston truly needs all the love and attention he never fully experienced. We hope that you will be that lasting family for him. Austin, TX area adoptions preferred. Winston's adoption fee of $350.00 includes his vet exam, vaccinations, fecal test, wormer, heart worm test, preventative, heart worm treatments, neuter, dental, microchip, and grooming.

Story
Meet sweet Lulu, a 9 year old, 7 pound little Yorkie girl being fostered in Leander, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Meet Lulu, a precious 7.3lb, 9 year old little girl looking for her perfect forever home. Lulu came to UYR about a week ago surrendered from a life of breeding. Although she was a little producer, it is evident she was cared for and loved. She came with some teeth decay and a UTI, but all her blood work appears to be good and she is scheduled for a spay and dental next week. She will likely lose the remaining teeth she has, which is not many. She already has the oh so cute tongue hanging out of her mouth look that just melts your heart for the first look. While we are still learning all there is to know about Lulu, we have noticed that she does lie human attention, likes to snuggle next to you on the couch, is somewhat puppy pad and outside potty trained. She had some accidents in the first few days, but we believe that was due to her UTI. The past few days have been nothing but great potties on a pad or outside. She will bark and run around quickly when she needs to out side. She loves to run in the yard and sleeps well through the night. From what we can see so far, she will need to be in an adult home with someone around most of the time. She has plenty of love to give and is excited to start her journey in her new forever home. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application using the link under her bio on the UYR website.

Story
Please meet our very sweet angel, Mila! Mila is an amazing and sweet 12 yr young teacup Yorkie that recently came into rescue, through no fault of her own. Because of Mila’s tiny stature, she was having a hard time co-existing with a very active toddler. Despite being very friendly with the toddler, and after many tearful exchanges with her family, it was decided that it would be in Mila’s best interest for her to find another Amazing home. Mila had been in her previous home since she was a tiny puppy and is used to living in a loving home. She is pad trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out. She is very treat-motivated and has a healthy appetite & clean bill of health! Don’t let her diminutive stature fool you, Mila comes with a personality to rival that of the biggest Diva! Whether it is letting you know that it’s time to eat, or time to snuggle and binge watch her favorite shows aka your favorite shows ;) (or time for bed)! Mila will let you know what’s on her mind!! Even though she has a big personality, she still gets along great with other pups! Big & small! If you would like to learn more about Mila or the possibility of having her as part of your family, please fill out Mila’s Adoption Application here: https://www.jotform.com/form/210400377853148

Story
Meet Wrangler, a 10-12 year old, 4 pound Yorkie boy being fostered in Georgetown, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Hello everyone, my name's Wrangler and I'm so happy to be part of the UYR Family! When I came to be with my foster Mom I was not feeling well at all. I just felt hungry all the time -- my beautiful fur coat had pretty much all fallen out and my skin was just plain translucent. I am an older gentlemen you see, but I really don't need to be sick from not eating well. All the good folks from my UYR Family have changed that for me! I'm now eating good food on a regular schedule, I've been to the dogter and they took out all but one of my toofers and I'm neutered -- (not sure what that means but I do feel better), and I have all my shots! Now I'm just waiting for that right furever person to come and adopt me. I'll bring you more love and joy than you can ever imagine! Hugs & Kisses Furever Together -- Wrangler

Story
Meet Mae Mae, a precious 5 pound, 4 year old (estimated) Yorkie girl being fostered in Austin, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Say hello to the sweetest little 5 pound angel, Mae Mae! This good girl loves kids and is friendly with other dogs. We had the honor of taking in Mae Mae from an owner surrender who wasn’t able to give her the care she needs. Unfortunately her health needs have been overlooked before joining UYR and the vet has found her to have ear infections, eye infection, fungal infection, and multiple skin wounds from scratching herself so much. Fortunately the doctor has her on multiple medications and we’re already seeing some improvements in her scratching and discomfort after just a few days. Despite all the discomfort she is experiencing, she couldn’t be sweeter. She loves to cuddle and rest. She enjoys a walk but her tiny legs won’t get her far, so be prepared with a carrier if you want to go for a long walk. She does great in the car and in various carrying bags for longer adventures. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. Mae is mostly house broken, with just a few slip ups here and there. She is a calm and gentle little girl who handles a high traffic home well, as long as she is shown love and affection. She has lived with large dogs before and currently has a foster sister 10 times her size. Her 7 year old human foster brother enjoys her cuddles and attention as well. Mae Mae is an adaptable dog that would do well in a home or apartment (as long as she gets frequent potty breaks), with a large family or small, dog siblings or only child… as long as she feels safe and loved. Mae looks forward to finding her forever home!
