NAME: SWIFTY Sex: female Breed(s): DOMESTIC SHORTHAIR, Abyssinian? Color/Pattern: Tabby Reddish Brown Size: med Coat length: short BDAY approx: ~ April 29 2024 Age at intake: About 5 wks old Intake date: June 5, 2024 Description Swifty is UBER-Friendly and laid back. She is amazingly trusting and loving. Personality Swifty is so easy-going that she will just walk into your house and settle in instantly, as if she has always lived there. She is so cuddly and affectionate that you won’t lack for lots of kitty love. She lets any stranger pick her right up and hold her, and she doesn’t care about other cats at all. She will go right up and snuggle with your dog too. Swifty has FOMO, overflowing confidence, and isn’t afraid of anything, even feet stepping over her. She is the greeter and makes sure everyone knows she is there, and is always literally right in the middle of the action. Her whole litter is athletic and were nicknamed the ninjas because there was no containing them. None of them has ever met anyone who isn’t her friend. Swifty would be a great first pet, especially for people who love dogs, because her personality is more like a golden retriever than a typical cat! Background Swifty’s litter of 5 kittens and her momma Empanada (a Hemingway cat with extra toes!) were living outdoors in an apartment complex, being fed by residents before she was surrendered to a GNAR foster home. Empanada had been there for many months, long enough to have had more than 1 litter of kittens. Her litter of kittens almost all look just like her, except that they only have the normal number of toes. They all have the same outgoing and confident personality of their mother too. They look like they may be part Abyssinian with their distinctive tabby patterns and reddish brown coloring. Compatibility Dogs - YES Other Cats - yes Kids - yes If you would like to meet me, please email GNARHouston@gmail.com

Story
Duchess is an adult female born in 2021. She will usually hide when strangers are in the house. And she likes a nice peaceful environment. Loud noises and lots of simulation are not in her comfort zone. However, as she gets to know you, she can become very affectionate. She will jump on your lap, nudge you until she receives her strokes of affection, and then hang out with you for hours. She loves to play games. Her favorites are laser pointer, string, and mouse (with some catnip, of course). She enjoys climbing in her cat tree or perching on the window sill and watching birds, butterflies, and salamanders. She loves hide and seek, sometimes hiding under furniture and then jumping out suddenly. Duchess may also be a budding office cat. She is fascinated by monitors, the movement of the mouse, and printers. Anytime you are in the office, expect Duchess to show up soon to help.  Duchess has always lived with her brother, Tigger. They have been together since birth and have a very close bond. When they can’t find each other, you will hear them meowing and calling to one another. You often see them together, laying on the bed, perched in the window sill, or just hanging out on their cat tree. While they do some things separately, they seem to really enjoy each other’s company. This is good on those days where you are stuck at work, to know that your cat has a sweet companion. In most cases, Tigger is the initiator of activities and relationships. Since he is more outgoing than his sister, Duchess, he forges new territory, and then she follows soon after. The reason why they are being rehomed? A new member of the family has very bad allergies. The family loves them enough to keep them in their current home until a new home can be found. This brother and sister pair are TOO SWEET! Tigger will hover over sister Duchess at adoption events, keeping her safe:) Both are very sweet and loving. This is a great bonded pair looking for a new, forever home. December 5, 2025, 10:44 am
