Very friendly to people she trusts and a good girl on a leash. She likes to play ball Akita style meaning she will get the ball once and then it belongs to her! She is learning basic commands and can sit like a pro, especially if a tasty treat is involved!! She is not reactive to other polite dogs while on leash but she will tell rude dogs to back off!! Kia is a sassy Akita girl that knows her worth!! She does not want other animals invading her space, therefore accordingly, she would do best as the only pet in the home. She has never lived with children and because their behavior can be unpredictable, she would do better in a home with teens and up who will be respectful of her boundaries. Kia is more aloof and independent versus velcro and constantly needing attention. But this girl can lay the cuteness on thick when she knows you are her people!!! He may have a tiny bit of Malinois mixed in due to the shape of his head but that is pure speculation. He came into rescue neglected and has recovered beautifully!! He is very playful and loves to run but is also quite attached to his humans! He is looking for a home with either a fenced yard with room to run or one that will take him out on hikes, walks or runs. (On leash of course!) He seems to prefer being an only dog/child. Pistol is a spunky young boy that loves affection. He will run and jump like a kangaroo in excitement to see you!! He is very handsome and still growing. During the first few months of his life he only had limited exposure to the world outside of his previous home. Yoshi is highly intelligent and wants someone who will stimulate his mind and teach him new skills. It takes him a little bit of time to warm up to strangers and get used to them so it will take more than one visit before he is ready to go home. Because of his cautious demeanor, he would do best in a calm and consistent environment with a good human leader to make him feel safe and help him develop into a more well rounded canine. He would do best with a breed experienced home that respects his space and positively encourages him as he learns what this world has to offer. Lightning arrived from Sacramento after the passing of his owner. The poor boy was loose for severals weeks on his own before coming into rescue and didn't seem to have much of a loving home prior to that. We have taken our time getting to know him and giving him the time he needed while he settled in here at the ranch. He is a sweet boy and has grown so much in a loving environment. Lightning weighs about 72 lbs and is about 5 years old. He needs an experienced Akita owner to love him and help him adjust to the new life he deserves!  Meet Lightning today! Douglas is a BIG, fluffy, mellow cuddle-bug of a puppy! He has the perfect little floppy puppy walk (with big floppy paws), and comes running up with the most agreeable look on his face! He and his 8 siblings were found living under a shed after winter, and their momma was skin and bones hunting in fields nearby for sustenance. All the pups have had their first shots as of 4/25/23, and have each had a wellness veterinary exam. Included in their adoption fee are the 2nd and 3rd set of puppy vaccines which we provide, microchipping, rabies, a clean fecal test prior to going home, and spay/neuter. Local adopters also receive free entry into one of the Puppy/Beginner group classes hosted by Diamond Dogs Training in Menifee - adopters further out will receive the full 8 week training curriculum to learn off :) Puppies are available for adoption to qualified applicants in CA, OR, WA, western NV and ID (we personally transport to adopters!)
