09/22/23 12:39 She was fearful when being impounded as officer found her hiding under a small truck. Once the officer was able to get her out from under the truck, she did lunge. At the shelter, she has been quiet, clean and depressed. Laying on her blanket and not getting up to visit with anyone through the kennel door. Took her out to the play yard today. I opened her kennel door thinking she would continue to lay there but she got up and once she saw the leash in my hand, she began wagging her tail. Walked her out to the yard and she immediately used the bathroom for a very long time.... I believe she is house trained. She walked around the yard, coming over to me only briefly for just a touch. When I reached for the treats she became extremely attentive and sat while staring at the treat. I gave her one then walked around and asked her to `sit`, without any hesitation, she sat and took the treat nicely from my hand. She was easy to leash and walk by the other dogs. Showed no interest in them at all. Walked back to her kennel, got in and turned. I asked her to sit, she did, I removed the leash and gave her more treats. She`s a good girl and very well mannered.

Oakley says there's not a word yet for FRIENDS who have just met. Oakley has learned many new things since arriving at the ranch, like sit and how to walk on leash, how to raise his paw for a treat, how to look absolutely adorable at ALL times, how to bulldoze those you love!! When we first received him it didn't appear he had ever had a safe loving home where he could trust those around him or he knew he would have a regular meal, so at first he was little shy. But now he is the biggest love bug and has learned how wonderful love is!! He can be cautious with new people but warms up quickly and once he trusts you, he will slobber you with affection. If he gets excited, you may need to gently calm him down but that's when he will flop over for belly rubs!!...Oh poor Oakley, sometimes he just can't contain his happiness. Due to Oakley's size we recommend he would be best in an adult home. Oakley does seem to like other friendly female large dogs but he can be selective and may be happiest as an only dog. He may have a tiny bit of Malinois mixed in due to the shape of his head but that is pure speculation. He came into rescue neglected and has recovered beautifully!! He is very playful and loves to run but is also quite attached to his humans! He is looking for a home with either a fenced yard with room to run or one that will take him out on hikes, walks or runs. (On leash of course!) He seems to prefer being an only dog/child. Pistol is a spunky young boy that loves affection. He will run and jump like a kangaroo in excitement to see you!!
