I got Mako from a Akita breeder in LA when I was 18. he was my dream dog, I selected him out of about 5 other Akita's, he was the 2nd brindle one. He is 9 years old now and is healthy. he gets a lot of flies on his ears in summer and requires frequent cleaning to avoid infection. he does very well on walks. always hiked with smaller dogs (shitzus) and larger dogs (german shepard) when he eats it's never a problem. He is a sweet boy that knows how to sit, lay down, shake, stay and waits for his food until given a release. I wish I could take care of him until the end. He loves cuddles and face licks. If he really likes you he rubs his body onto you like a cat does. When he was a puppy I would take him on hikes and he would get tired so I would carry him. Now he enjoys being lifted onto my lap for quality time. he occasionally will sleep inside the house when there is too much going on outside like 4th of july, new years, other holidays. he never destroyed furniture or clothing.

Story
Yuki is a three year old Akita who is a goofball and loves to be around people. His previous owner rescued him from poor conditions of a breeder. Yuki especially loves to go on walks and sun bathe. He is very calm around other dogs, cats, or strangers. He is a very loving and charismatic dog. He does extremely well during walks at the park, showers, grooming, feeding medication, or during vet visits. He knows basic commands such as sit and paw, and will wait to eat his food if given the command. I would love Yuki to be adopted into a family or to a person that is able to put the time and energy into giving him the love that he deserves! I do want to add that he has been diagnosed with allergic dermatitis, which consists of providing him with his allergy medication whenever it has flared up. It is not a condition that requires constant surveillance or attention, but simply just providing him medication to help his allergic flare ups. Please help us in avoiding sending him to a shelter!

Mufasa — Big Lovable Akita Mix Looking for a Great Home Mufasa is an American Akita mix I got as a puppy from Akita Ranch in Romoland, CA. He is a big, soft, lovable bear with a loyal heart. He’s great with kids and good with other dogs, though his size can tire them out. He’s comfortable indoors or outdoors, but he’s very used to human interaction, so please don’t take him if he’ll be left alone or forgotten outside. He is gentle and has never been aggressive, but he has a deep, intimidating bark and protective presence when strangers come near his home. He would make a great family pet, sidekick, or natural guard dog. Mufasa cleans himself like a cat and loves being brushed with his rake-style brush. He eats 3 scoops of grain-free dog food once a day. He hasn’t been leash-walked much, but he follows commands well when free. I’m moving to Arizona and sadly can’t take him. He deserves a loving home. Thank you for considering Mufasa.
