Story
Bentley is a very loving dog. I received her from a family friend about two years ago. At the time I received her I was doing very well had a home that I just recently lost due to me being layed off. I'm not in the position of being able to have a stable home for her now. I know she deserves everything plus more. I'm just unfortunately not in the position of being able to do that. Bentley is four years of age, loves going on walks, playing with children and laying or sitting next to you. She is house-trained and Kennell trained. She doesn't whine or act up if needed to be corralled. When she feels comfortable with you, you wil have a very protective dog who is attached at the hip. You will fall in love just as I and my two kids have . I just want for her to go to a loving home will people who care for her and truly love her. SHE IS ON A HEALTH PLAN THROUGH BANFIELD!.. she has been a single dog for the entirety of having her.

We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 4-6 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff. Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.

Meet Zeke! He is a young male brown/white Akita around 8-12 months of age. He was removed from a situation where he did not receive much attention, so Zeke will require someone with experience with this breed to foster or adopt him. Zeke has been great with people and previously lived with a medium-sized poodle. He'd like to meet his potential canine siblings before heading home. He's a loving boy and wants to please. Bayleigh is almost a year old and she’s an amazing dog. She’s great with kids and other animals. Loves to go outside and does okay when on a leash when you take her on walks etc. Wanting to find her an amazing home where she can run around more and also where they can give her the quality time that she needs. We can’t have her due to us having to move away, so wanting to find her a good home to go soon if we can. If you have any question, feel free to ask 😊

Emi has a much unknown background. She came into shelter as a stray and was adopted by a gentleman who had her for about a year before he lost his job and had to move. She came to our family and is a typical Akita. She is quiet, affectionate and protective. She has been around other dogs and may do well with a larger male dog in the home but small dogs and other female dogs would not be a good match. Cats and other small animals are not likely to be a good match either as her prey drive is high. Emi is great with older children. She is pretty chill and lazy and enjoys just lounging around.
