Story
Athena is the sweetest dog. She loves to cuddle with her humans, go on walks and carry around her stuffy. Unfortunately she doesn't get along with her sister. When trying to use and Akita rescue, I learned that this is a common trait for her breed to have trouble being homed with other dogs of the same gender. She made it 14 months before things escalated with her sister pup, but now she needs a new home. One in which she will be the only pet in the house. She is the absolute sweetest dog I have ever met. I am really struggling with having to part with her. She is roughly 2 years old, about 45 lbs, spayed and up to date on all her care.

These pups are in Kansas City, Missouri too!

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing for one of our rescue partners Allen county animal rescue facility. They are a rural animal control shelter near Iola KS. Many dogs are brought to their facility after being found as strays, dumped, surrendered, or brought in by the city. However, because they are in such a rural town, they have a very small pool of adopters and have a hard time finding homes for the dogs in the shelter. Our promise as their rescue partner is that should someone apply through us, we will handle any transportation needed to get the dog to their forever home, we will assist with home visits, dog intros and anything needed to help get these dogs out of the shelter and into loving homes. Please fill out our online dog adoption application if you are interested in adopting this pet. Whittaker 2 years old and is as handsome and sweet as they come. He is a tall boy with a lot of love to give. He would make a great running buddy, and adventure pal as he is very active and always excited to be along for the ride with his favorite people. Whittaker likes other dogs but can come on strong as he is a big boy with lots of energy, so a dog that can handle his size would be ideal, and we would like to introduce him to you current dog to ensure everyone gets along.  Whittaker loves kids and really just prefers a home with no kitties please! An experienced husky owner would be great but as long as you are willing to give him 101 time, lots of exercise, and don't mind a little extra vacuuming and brushing, he may be your guy!February 27, 2024, 6:26 pm

Age 7 years , Weight:60 lbs, Male Fenrir is a sophisticated gentleman who loves to speak in his wolfie language to share his opinions with everyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs, he doesn't much care for puppy shenanigans or cats for that matter. He has met and done well with young children and is all around a really great guy with a lot of love to give. He is quite dapper and has an adorable trot when he is happy  and we don't know why he's been passed over for so long. If you think you can be Fenrir's forever family, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.org.February 27, 2024, 6:26 pm

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff.  Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.   February 27, 2024, 6:26 pm
