Story
3 3/4 year old Robin Hood is an outgoing Husky mix who always greets everyone with a happily wagging tail and a big ole smile! He is reported to be fully house trained and has successfully lived with children. This playful boy knows his basic commands and loves nothing more than to play and hang out with his family. He loves a good game of fetch and chasing down a tennis ball only to bring it back for another round is one of his favorite past times! He does seem to prefer the lady dogs so no male dog roommates for him. Like all of our pups, he would like to meet any potential (female) canine siblings before heading home to make sure that it’s a good match. He recently spent an afternoon with a volunteer: “Our day out with Robin Hood was amazing. He was very friendly and well-behaved in the car. We enjoyed a walk in a busy park where he didn’t show any negative reactions. He is very treat motivated and will sit and wait patiently for snacks.”Robin Hood is neutered, micro-chipped as well as up to date on vaccines.

Story
Nougat is 1 year old and weighs 45 pounds. He was found as a stray, so we don`t know about his past. Nougat was lucky enough to get a break from the shelter, `Do you believe in love at first sight? If so, let me introduce you to Nougat! I had the honors of taking Nougat out on a date where I learned his love language is physical touch; so be prepared for lots of kisses and hugs.Nougat is a 1 year old, “Husky/Mix” eager to please pup that enjoys being the center of attention. He loves car rides, and might have to be reminded that his cutie patootie belongs in the back seat.In addition, he loves pup cups, taking walks, getting brushed, belly rubs and patio time (he will literally mimic you and sit in a chair right beside you!)Although Nougat is a distinguished gentleman most of the time, he still might get excited and will jump up to say hello. He takes redirection very well and a simple reminder is all he needs get down.So if you’re looking for a tail-wagging good time, and have that “dog hair-don’t care” mentality then come get your very sweet boy Nougat and experience a “Fur”-real love like no other!`He has been neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Story
Meet Socks! He's a happy go lucky guy! Socks just wants to have fun! Everything from 5-gallon buckets, balls, empty feed bags, tug toys are for running around the yard, shaking and tackling! This is a fetching and frisbee-loving dog! This guy loves to play and wants to be by your side when you are doing chores, cooking or watching TV. He’ll sit by you, lay his head in your lap or lay at your feet. He’s a big cuddler and is great with kids! This sweet boy came to us as a “wild man”, “Dennis the Menace”, “the Big Lebowski” with a touch of “Frat Boy” and in a few short weeks he’s become a solid family dog who sits and waits, kennels when asked and takes treats very gently. Just imagine what you can teach him! We think he’ll be a good car dog too, who’ll love to jump in the van with you and the kids for a day at the lake. Maybe he is part Golden Lab? Socks will bring you a toy when you walk in the door, welcoming you home. He’s a great dog and you couldn't ask for a better playmate! Socks will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Socks today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Meet Zeke! He is a young male brown/white Akita around 8-12 months of age. He was removed from a situation where he did not receive much attention, so Zeke will require someone with experience with this breed to foster or adopt him. Zeke has been great with people and previously lived with a medium-sized poodle. He'd like to meet his potential canine siblings before heading home. He's a loving boy and wants to please. He needs an adult-only home with people who have the time and patience to teach him the world isn't so scary. If you would like to meet Zeke please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. Zeke is in the KC metro, but transport to the right home might be available.

Story
Gorgeous Chinook surely won`t be homeless for long! He arrived on Valentine`s Day and immediately began demonstrating his manners, sitting politely and offering a paw! Chinook rides well in a car and behaves so well in a home. He seems to love everyone and enjoys his belly rubs! He walks so nicely on a leash and is treat motivated. Chinook knows sit. This elegant gentleman is very new to the shelter, so we`re still learning about him, but he is certainly lovely to look at! He participates in dog playgroups and is social with other dogs. Staff can lead a doggie meet and greet at the shelter if you have other pups at home. Chinook is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. You can meet him today at the KC Pet Project main campus!

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 4-6 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff. Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.
