Story
Meet Spark 🐾 Spark was born on May 9, 2025, and he is full of personality and love. He’s a sweet, talkative boy who absolutely adores tummy rubs and anything involving water. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, Spark is your guy — he loves being near his people and will happily follow you from room to room. Spark is intelligent and confident, but he can also be a little stubborn at times, so he would do best with an experienced owner who can provide consistent training and structure. With guidance and patience, he has so much potential to grow into an amazing lifelong companion. He’s gentle, affectionate, and full of character. Just one small tip: you may want to keep an eye on your snacks — Spark is known to sneak a bite if given the opportunity! Spark is being rehomed due to unforeseen allergies in our household, and we are hoping to find him a loving home where he will be cherished and properly guided.

Story
Luna is a purebred, AKC-certified Siberian Husky with the sweetest, calmest, and most loving personality. She’s playful, affectionate, and full of energy. Professionally trained at Kansas City K9 Academy (3-week course) AKC Certified Luna has ongoing intestinal issues that need to be checked by a specialist and has been diagnosed with Giardia. She has gone through multiple treatments unknowingly before we had adopted her as well, but the problem has not fully resolved, and she continues to have frequent accidents in her crate. Unfortunately, I can no longer afford continued vet care or manage her medical needs in an apartment setting. This is a heartbreaking decision, and I truly want Luna to go to a home that can give her the care and stability she deserves.

Story
Bobsled is ready to slide into your heart - and hopefully then your home! This young, one year old Husky is beautiful inside and out. He is social in dog play groups. He is very playful and especially loves tennis balls. Bobsled spent almost a week with a family, and they were smitten - but their dog was not. Due to no fault of his own, they decided they couldn`t keep Bobsled with their current dog. We did learn a few things from his time with them.He does great on walks, knows Come and Down. Bobsled loves to give kisses. He really just wants to be with his people. ` All around he is one of the sweetest and friendly dogs we have come across.`Bobsled was originally brought in as a stray, so we don`t know his history. He still has puppy energy at a year old, and may need some additional training. He would benefit from an active home and may enjoy a dog friend.Bobsled is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. No all he needs is a loving forever home!

Story
I got Kia when she was 6 months old, back when I was in high school. She's now 6 years old, born in August 2018. She's a very well-behaved, sweet dog. She's house-trained and lets you know when she needs to go to the bathroom by barking. She loves getting love and attention and gets along very well with children and other dogs. I'm not sure about cats because she hasn't been around any. I'm looking for a new home for her because we can't keep her anymore, and we're not giving her the attention she needs. I want to find someone who can take better care of her than I can. During the summer, flies bit her ears, even though we gave her something for it, and they're a little damaged, but she's fine now and they've healed. She's also a great companion and loves being inside the house as well as going outside.

Story
This handsome guy is Bark Ruffalo! We`re looking for a Malamute lover to come fall in love with him. Malamutes are a working breed, and Bark Ruffalo is a strong, smart dog who will want an active life to engage his mind and body. Malamutes are highly intelligent and independent, so an owner with familiarity with training would help him thrive. He loves sniffing absolutely everything on his walks. He might be a good exercise/hiking buddy. Are you looking for an accountability partner? Bark Ruffalo is a bit of a `lone wolf` - we`re recommending that he may not be a good fit with young children and may prefer to be an only dog. He does take some time to warm up. So far Bark Ruffalo`s love language seems to be toys more than treats or affection. He can get overly excited and needs work on not jumping up while playing. Bark Ruffalo is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 4-6 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff. Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.
