We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff.  Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.   March 1, 2024, 2:14 pm

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing for one of our rescue partners Allen county animal rescue facility. They are a rural animal control shelter near Iola KS. Many dogs are brought to their facility after being found as strays, dumped, surrendered, or brought in by the city. However, because they are in such a rural town, they have a very small pool of adopters and have a hard time finding homes for the dogs in the shelter. Our promise as their rescue partner is that should someone apply through us, we will handle any transportation needed to get the dog to their forever home, we will assist with home visits, dog intros and anything needed to help get these dogs out of the shelter and into loving homes. Please fill out our online dog adoption application if you are interested in adopting this pet. Whittaker 2 years old and is as handsome and sweet as they come. He is a tall boy with a lot of love to give. He would make a great running buddy, and adventure pal as he is very active and always excited to be along for the ride with his favorite people. Whittaker likes other dogs but can come on strong as he is a big boy with lots of energy, so a dog that can handle his size would be ideal, and we would like to introduce him to you current dog to ensure everyone gets along.  Whittaker loves kids and really just prefers a home with no kitties please! An experienced husky owner would be great but as long as you are willing to give him 101 time, lots of exercise, and don't mind a little extra vacuuming and brushing, he may be your guy!March 1, 2024, 2:14 pm

Age 7 years , Weight:60 lbs, Male Fenrir is a sophisticated gentleman who loves to speak in his wolfie language to share his opinions with everyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs, he doesn't much care for puppy shenanigans or cats for that matter. He has met and done well with young children and is all around a really great guy with a lot of love to give. He is quite dapper and has an adorable trot when he is happy  and we don't know why he's been passed over for so long. Story
Kansas City is full of smart dogs! Zima is another one who, upon finding herself lost, found a Good Samaritan with a car! Zima hopped right in and got herself to safety at KC Pet Project. Since her arrival, she's been friendly and happy. She visits nicely with other dogs in playgroups and walks well with the volunteers. She isn't overly treat-motivated but will enjoy some praise and pets as reward. She's on the smaller side of husky-type pups, so if you're looking for a pocket husky, she's your gal. Her fur is so soft and pretty - and she knows it! When walking her at Zona, she likes to check out her reflection in the store windows. Zima is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Come meet this precious girl today!

Story
I inquired Koda at 7 months, he will be 3 years old April 20th. He is a very energetic dog , he enjoys running, being outside, and the cold. We want him to go somewhere with a big yard, he loves going on walks and enjoys going on car rides! He is an indoor dog and kennel trained. I unfortunately can’t keep him due to having a new born. We noticed his behavior change being more jumpy and lunges towards the baby when she is playing or screaming. We have tried correcting him and haven’t had success. Unfortunately, she will be crawling soon and don’t want to risk anything.

Story
Lucy is an approximately 6 month old Husky mix. She is 33 pounds and is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped. Lucy is not yet potty-trained, but in all other ways is a good girl. Potty training would be easier with a crate and a fenced in yard. She has some normal puppy behaviors like chewing and jumping up. She is pretty good at sit and stay. She walks well on a leash. She gets along with kids, dogs and cats. Lucy is a sweetheart. She has tons of energy, loves to run and fetch and go for walks, but is also very mellow and will just lay and love you. Lucy loves to have the bridge of her nose scratched and to rest her little chin on your lap for pets. Lucy has great potential to be a wonderful dog for someone who has the time and desire to commit to teaching her to be her best self.

Story
Rocky was a found rescue. He has done well with the other animals in the home. He is crate trained and very good motivated. He still is working on his leash skills. The primary reason for rehoming is a dispute with home owners association and being over the city allowed limit for pets in the home

Millie / Saint is a rollicking, fun Lab puppy. She adores her foster brother and wants to engage him in play, even though he's twice her size. She's also a cuddle bug and likes to snooze during evening television. She's very polite and learning not to jump. She's smart and inquisitive. She made friends with kittens and has taken a nap with them after playing. Saint currently uses a pee pad and when the yard dries up, will get training on the purpose of the dog door.

Story
Coco came to us literally days away from delivering puppies after she was found abandoned in a parking lot. She was such a good mama to her puppies and blossomed in her foster home while her puppies grew. Now they are raised and she is ready to move on to her next chapter! Coco loves being outside, no matter how cold! She really loves playing in the snow! She is house trained as well as kennel trained for sleeping at night. She does well with other dogs, cats and children. Coco is a definite Chow Chow. She maybe mixed but she has the most beautiful purple tongue! She also has an independent streak like a true Chow! But she is so sweet and loving to those she deigns worthy of her love and loyalty.
