He is currently co-kenneled and has also participated successfully in playgroups, making him a great candidate for a home with another compatible dog (proper intros, PLEASE!)He’s a gentleman on leash, takes treats ever so gently, and is comfortable with handling from head to tail. He even tolerates brushing without a fuss. With his calm demeanor and social nature, he’s the kind of dog who is easy to enjoy spending time with. Needing to find a new home for our 4 year old Alaskan Malamute due to our family very busy schedule. His name is Nitro he is around 90lbs, he does well on the leash although he likes to stop and look at every single animal he comes across lol he is a gentle giant very good when it comes to kids from ages 2-11. He can be playful at times with his tug toys and if you hype him up to run around, he is housetrained and potty trained has not had an accident in our home.

He thrives in a larger space and needs a home with a yard where he can enjoy the outdoors at his own leisurely pace. Housetrained and well-mannered, Rufus makes a smooth transition into home life. This sweet boy is family-friendly and has a special way of leaning in for affection, quietly asking for love and connection. He does best with another young med/large dog in the home close in age and medium energy activity level that he can romp and wrestle with. He may be able to live with calm dog savvy cats as he has made friends with the neighborhood cat in his foster’s yard. Rufus is still skittish of many things, narrow spaces, loud noises, crowded places so living in a non urban environment may be a best match for him. I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:3Oban – Calm, Easygoing and Treat Motivated Oban is a 9-year-old Alaskan Malamute mix weighing 79 pounds. This sweet senior has a calm, independent personality and is wonderfully easy to handle. Easygoing on Walks: Oban walks nicely on leash, with only occasional moderate pulling. He enjoys leisurely strolls and plenty of time to sniff and explore. Calm & Independent: Oban is content doing his own thing. After exploring the yard, he happily chills and doesn’t seek constant attention. Treat Motivated: Oban can be selective about treats, and cheese definitely gets his attention! With a tasty cheese reward, he is happy to show off his “sit” and practice catching treats mid-air. Curious & Patient: Oban sometimes takes an interest in people and dogs passing by, quietly observing the world around him. He also showed impressive patience during a two-hour bath and brushing session, taking it all in stride.
