Story
Meet Oreo – Your Perfect-Size Snuggle Buddy Who doesn’t love an Oreo? I’m Oreo, an 11-month-old, 43-pound bully mix from Texas, and I’m just the right size for your heart and your couch. I’m a curious, affectionate pup who loves to watch the world from the window—dogs, people, squirrels, you name it. I’m super food-motivated and eager to please, which makes training a breeze, especially if treats are involved. I may take a second to figure out what you’re asking, but I always try my best to get it right. Physical touch is my love language—I’m a total Velcro dog who needs to be close to my people at all times. I adore snuggles, belly rubs, and go absolutely crazy for butt scratches. I’m playful, goofy, and love curling up next to you (or on you, if you’ll let me). In my foster home, I live with another dog and we get along great. We enjoyed running and playing together at the dog park. I’m fully potty trained and sleep soundly through the night in my crate without any accidents. I’m also good on a leash and enjoy going for walks. I’ve seen children at adoption events and have done well with them, but I don’t currently live with any. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d feel about them. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and cuddly companion who will follow you everywhere and always be ready for snuggles, I might just be the perfect pup for you. I’m a great size and will easily fit in your home, on your lap, or right in the middle of a puppy pile. Could I be the Oreo your life is missing? Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. Story
Name: Fletcher Age: 2 years old, 4/4/2023 Weight: 65 lbs Meet Fletcher — Your Lovable Shadow with a Big Heart! Hi, I’m Fletcher, but my friends all call me Bubbas! I’m a 65-pound cuddlebug with a heart just as big as my body. I may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once I do, I’ll be your loyal shadow — always nearby, always leaning in for love (literally…I really like to lean!). I’m fully potty trained and crate trained — though I do appreciate a treat or two to make crate time more appealing. I sleep in my foster’s bed at night and chill in my crate when they’re away. I’m a gentle, affectionate boy who’s a little skittish with loud noises, but I’ll find a safe spot (usually behind you or curled up in my bed) until things settle down. I’ve got a playful side too! I love my toys, though fetch isn’t my strong suit — I’m working on it. I’m not a huge fan of walks (they tire me out fast!), but give me a fenced yard and I’ll happily zoom around with my goofy energy. I walk well on a leash with just a bit of pulling, which I'm continuing to improve. I’ve been great with other dogs, cats, and even small critters in cages. Kids? I’ve met a few, and while I’m not quite sure about them yet (they can be a little loud and unpredictable), I might do well with older, calmer kids who understand I need gentle handling. The perfect home for me would be one that’s laid-back and full of love. I’d thrive with a family who doesn’t mind a constant companion and has a big yard for me to run and play in. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, loyal boy to be your sidekick, I might just be the perfect match. Ready to meet your new best friend? I can’t wait to find my forever family! Story
Hi, Helen is a 2-year-old Bulldog mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This beautiful girl has a stunning white coat, an adorable piggy snort, and a signature bulldog smile that will brighten your day. Helen is full of energy and absolutely loves going for short walks—every outing is an adventure in her eyes! She’s a total people-person and wants to be wherever her humans are. Whether she’s gazing out the window or cuddling up by your side, Helen is always ready to soak up the love. If you're looking for a joyful, affectionate companion who will adore you endlessly, Helen is your girl! When Helen arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. But don’t worry—Helen is in good hands, and with the help of a loving forever family like yours, she’ll be on the road to recovery in no time! The shelter team believes the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Helen to heal is in a calm, supportive home. If you choose to adopt this sweet, snorty girl, the clinic staff will guide you through every step of the treatment process, answering questions and providing plenty of support along the way. Heartworm treatment usually takes about three months and includes some simple at-home care to keep her safe while she recovers. After treatment, she’ll need a follow-up test about six months later. The process is highly effective, and the staff fully expects Helen to make a full recovery! And just so you know—Heartworm isn’t contagious between animals. It can only be transmitted by mosquitoes. With a little TLC and time, Helen will be back to her energetic, smiling self, ready to live her best life with you! Stop in and meet Helen in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
