Story
Thor is a big, smart boy who clearly enjoys being close to his people and figuring out the world around him. Staff have described him as sweet, loving, easy to handle outside of the kennel environment, and eager to please. He walks well on leash, rides nicely in the car, and has shown that once he is away from the noise and stimulation of the kennel, he can settle in and focus on the person with him. There is something especially endearing about dogs like Thor who act tough behind the kennel door but reveal a softer, thoughtful side once given space to breathe. Thor would likely do best with someone who understands that shelter stress can make some dogs feel overwhelmed and reactive around barriers or high-traffic environments. Outside of that chaos, he has shown himself to be affectionate, responsive, and very trainable. He seems like the kind of dog who would thrive with structure, clear guidance, and a person willing to build a strong bond with him. For the right home, Thor has all the potential to become an incredibly loyal companion who takes his role as best friend very seriously. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter`s care. Not good with kids,
Story
Morty is 6 years old, 59 pounds, and a firm believer that laps should accommodate dogs of all sizes. During outings with staff, he has climbed into laps for pets, played happily with toys, and greeted familiar people with full-body wiggles. He knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and enjoys walks with plenty of opportunities to investigate interesting smells. One staff member described him politely greeting a group of people, simply sniffing and wagging his tail. Those moments show the affectionate, curious boy who emerges when Morty feels comfortable.

Morty needs a patient adopter who will build trust through a steady routine and give him time to settle in. Unfamiliar situations and some interactions around his food can make him uncomfortable, so respectful space during meals and guidance from our adoption team will be important. He is not recommended for a home with small children, and his suitability with cats and other dogs is unknown. He has walked more comfortably in a harness and enjoys spending time outside exploring with his person. For Morty, a home would offer the chance to trade an overwhelming environment for familiar company, restful afternoons, and daily sniffing adventures. His adopter will get to know a playful lap-seeker whose quiet moments of trust are every bit as special as his happy wiggles.

All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter`s care. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.

Story
Athena is a wonderful, sweet, kind, so loving and so well behaved Pitt/Boxer Mix. She loves to cuddle, go for walks and play. She truly is the sweetest dog and she will cuddle up next to you with a cozy blanket and be in heaven, she is so affectionate and calm. She is completely potty trained and NEVER has an accident in the house. We love her but my elderly mother who is 91 lives with' us and has Asthma and COPD and is allergic to so many things. The dog has caused her very difficult related health issues and the doctor said she is highly allergic. We want to make sure Athena goes to a wonderful home with lots of love.
