Story
Courtesy Post — Tino Needs YOU! FIVE MONTHS and counting — that’s how long sweet Tino has been waiting for a foster or forever home after being heartbreakingly surrendered by his family (through no fault of his own — it was a cat issue!). Tino is a 2-year-old, 65-pound lovebug currently stuck in boarding at Lucky Stars Kennels in Carroll County, Maryland — and he is SO ready to break free and join a loving home. This handsome boy was a daycare favorite at Lucky Stars, known for his affectionate nature and A+ snuggle skills. He thrives on human connection — belly rubs, playtime, and simply hanging out with his people. Unfortunately, after one bad experience with a small dog, he can’t do group play anymore. Tino would LOVE to be your one-and-only or could do well with a calm female dog buddy. Tino is: Neutered  Great with older kids  Crate-trained  Active, fun-loving, and full of life  Always ready for a good frog pose stretch (and belly rubs!) This sweet pit mix has waited long enough. After everything he’s been through, Tino deserves more than a kennel run — he deserves a real home, a best friend, and a new chapter. He’ll thrive in a home with structure, exercise, and plenty of affection — think walks, hikes, a fenced yard, or weekend adventures. His heart is wide open — all he needs now is YOU. Ready to foster or adopt? Help us get Tino out of boarding — he’s been waiting five long months! Currently in Carroll County, Maryland   ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter. July 25, 2025, 8:18 pm

Story
Meet Luna! Luna has returned to Miri's Haven after more than a year in her adoptive home. Her owner had a medical issue and her family was unable to care for Luna. Luna returned to us completely bewildered, unsure what just happened, and with a few extra pounds that we're helping her shed with time and care. She loves sunbathing, snuggling, and taking long naps with her favorite people. She's housetrained and gets along beautifully with the other dogs in her foster home as well. Luna is approximately 9 years old and 12 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Miso, the adorable creamy-white boy with an abundance of love to give. At just 8-10 weeks old and under 5 pounds, he's a tiny bundle of joy with a remarkable spirit. Despite a rough start involving starvation and neglect, Miso has shown incredible resilience and a courageous, open heart. He’s now a picture of health, full of happy curiosity and energy. He loves to pounce on his toys, explore his surroundings, and most of all, clamber onto any available lap for a snuggle. Miso is expected to remain small, likely topping out around 10-15 pounds. His bright eyes see the world as a place of wonder, and he’s ready to bring his complete devotion and abundance of joy to his forever home. His adoption fee covers all initial care, including puppy shots, rabies vaccination, deworming, and his neuter surgery when he's 6 months old. While Hedgesville Hounds prefers a securely fenced yard and is cautious about homes with small children or large dogs, we evaluate every application individually. Open your heart and home to this affectionate, smart, and trusting puppy, and prepare for a lifetime of happy memories. Story
Meet Piglet! He’s a sentient loaf with a tender soul wrapped in a rotund exterior —like if a Hot Pocket came to life. Piglet came to Miri's at twice the weight he should be, and he has been killing the fitness game since he got here: he’s gone from 12.4 lbs to 11.7, has started conquering indoor stairs (just the “up” for now. We celebrate progress, not perfection), and his sticky neck skin is healed. He loves leash outings, and if you so much as whisper the word “walk,” he’ll bark and bounce like a snack-sized gazelle. We’re keeping up with Piglet's health regimen and cheering him on every step (or stair) of the way. Piglet is looking for his forever home… but he’s not looking that hard because he refuses to move from his current cozy spot. So you’ll have to come to him. Here's what you need to know about this friendly (and sometimes spicy) burrito: - He gets along well with other dogs and cats and would love a canine brother or sister - He's working hard on housetraining and rocking a belly band in the meanwhile - He can be left home alone without starting a riot or getting into mischief - He LOVES exploring outside and smelling all the smells - his ideal home will have a fenced in yard and a family who'll take him on lots of walks and adventures (even hikes once he's slimmed down a bit!) Piglet needs time to warm up to new people before he trusts them enough for pets (honestly, seems like a good rule for all of us). His forever family will need to be patient, go slowly with him, and learn his body language so they can tell when he's uncomfortable and give him space. But once he knows he can trust you, he is the most loving, loyal, sweet, and squishy man. Piglet thrives in chill, predictable environments. So, no toddlers, no loud parties, and definitely no surprise guests dropping by all the time. Gentle, patient humans who are home a lot? Perfect. He’s also more of a “ladies’ man” than a “dude’s dude,” so he tends to prefer women over men. Most importantly, Piglet needs a family that will help him continue on his weight-loss journey. He’s got dreams of running, jumping, and chasing squirrels like a real, active dog. Help him reach his full potential, and he’ll reward you with love, loyalty, and cuddle sessions. Currently, Piglet's breathing seems labored, which may be weight-related. He has a level three (out of five) heart murmur that does not require medication. This little burrito has a heart as big as his body and will bring his forever family an endless supply of love, joy, and laughter. Submit your application for his review today! Piglet is approximately 8 years old and 11.7 lbs. Fostered in Woodbridge, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org
