Rambunctious, full of life, and even a bit of a trickster, our outgoing boy Tucker is a whirlwind of energy. He is very ambitious, and has done both obedience training and agility training. He has worked with a few of our volunteers, and has a special bond with his Woof pack member. He is incredibly smart and once the initial excitement from getting to go out is done, takes directions very well. He can not wait to go for a car ride and at least twice a week has been going out to local parks and exploring new areas. He walks very well when he has his harness on and long walks are welcomed. After spending time outside in the Florida heat, Tucker loves to jump in the pool to cool off or even just a nice spray down with the hose. Tucker has also been intrigued by other canine buddies, and has had a female yard buddy that shared his enthusiasm for play. When the day is done and it's time to relax, he loves curling up on a blanket. While Tucker is an absolutely amazing boy, he still has a lot of training to go in order to be the greatest he can be. Tucker is a big believer in play time, but is very stingy with his toys, treats and food. He has shown a protective nature with these things particularly and needs patience and reassurance that his precious things will continue to be his. It is because of his resource guarding that we encourage a more seasoned dog owner for this extroverted boy, with an active life style and a fenced in yard for him to run around in. Eventually the disease will go to her spleen. Her survival can be a few years with this type of cancer by the time it has spread to the spleen. Current 4/16/24! His DOB is 04/05/19 making him just 5 years old! He currently weighs 72 lbs and is utd on all vaccinations and is registered with AKC for sporting events! He is very in-tune with his humans and loves to cuddle and sneak up on your bed or couch when not looking. He can usually be trusted in the house but I would probably put up any shoes. He is not crate trained (has severe anxiety with crates). He would do best with dog-savy kids. He does great with them, just will follow them around and accidentally bump into them. He needs work on recall, but has mastered sit and stay although it may take him a second to process it. He is usually low-energy as long as he gets his daily walks in and has a chance to run in a fenced area with no other dogs at least once a week. He does have a high prey drive so no small animal! The new owner must be able to continue prevention meds and keep in touch. If you are unable to keep him, I would have a contract stating he goes back to me.

Baby is a huge sweetheart and lover to all people of all ages. I rescued her about 5 years ago and she's been nothing but a blessing in my life, however there is another dog in my home and she is not friendly to other animals unfortunately. When I rescued her from the pound they told me that she was used as a bait dog for fighting, so she does not act aggressive because that's simply who she is, but because of the trauma and abuse she went through in her earlier stages of life before she was rescued. However, she was once acclimated with my previous dog who passed, it just takes some time and training for her to adjust, she's been alone for at least a year now without another dog around so she would need the proper adjusting if adopted by a family with another dog in the home. Besides the aggression towards other animals, she is a sweetheart and if I was in the position to keep her I would, I am trying everything to not have to return her to the pound as it would hurt my heart.

Sweet Dusty Recently, we took in the sweetest obese boxer mix named Dusty. Sadly, Dusty and his siblings went to a "rescue in rural north Florida when they were just puppies and never left. It was organized hoarding and his entire life has been spent in a dark kennel After noticing his rapid weight gain and realizing the urgency, a volunteer drove 6 hours each way to get him. About a year ago, he was just 60-65lbs and he arrived here weighing a whopping 112.8lbs He looked like he was going to BURST. He was overfed cheap dog food, had very little exercise and his recent bloodwork revealed that he had hypothyroid and needed medication urgently. We are ecstatic to announce that in just a few weeks with us, Dusty has lost 11 POUNDS! After thyroid medication, good food and lots of play time, he prances around like he just got his bikini body back While we would love to keep Dusty with us, we feel he could go on to his forever home to continue his weight loss journey. His thyroid medication is only about $20 every 6 weeks. He doesn't need prescription food, but does need good quality dog food to continue to help him. He is great with dogs, cats and people and is a true gem. He currently weighs around 100lbs, but should get back to 65-70 one day.
