Four-year-old Brandy is a beautiful girl looking for a calm home. Brandy was extremely leery of meeting new people when she first arrived at Satchel’s but the commitment and love of her Woof Pack leader has given her so much more confidence. Brandy and her WP leader have been going to our off-site events and meeting new people is now much easier for Brandy. She is always excited for the next adventure, and rides well in the car. Brandy can be a little aloof at first, but once she’s comfortable with you, her personality comes out and she shows off her playful side. Playing fetch with her friends in our shelter yard is a big plus for this little girl. She has recently started Fitpaw training now offered at Satchel's and is showing off her intelligence. Heading home for an afternoon visit with her WP leader, Pam, makes for one happy, playful pup. Brandy doesn’t seem to care for other dogs and would likely prefer to be your only canine companion. This pint-size gal (approximately 45 lbs.) is ready for adventure! She walks great on a leash, knows all the basic commands and is just pure FUN! She might take a bit to warm up, but give this girl time and you will be the lucky recipient of her love!!! This is Tank. He is a mixed breed of a boxer and a lab. Tank is only 8 months old and he is very playful, lovable, bold and energetic. Tank needs a yard to run around in and an owner who has a lot of attention to give him. He loves to snuggle but he also enjoys his play time! We rescued him a little bit ago but we live in an apartment and My boyfriend and I work 5 days a week and we now understand he needs more space and attention than what we can give him. It would make us so happy seeing him go away to another happy home:)

Apollo is a 115lb, 5 year old gentle giant with the sweetest soul. He is incredibly well-trained, fully house-trained, and truly listens. He knows his commands and aims to please. If you’re looking for a dog with both presence and manners, he’s that rare combination. He has been raised around my daughter since she was a year old (now 5), and has always been patient, loving, and trustworthy with her. He has never shown any aggression toward people. Because of his breed and natural instincts, Apollo does best in a home without small animals. This is not a decision made lightly. We got Apollo when I was home full-time, and now that I’m working, it’s clear he’s not getting the level of attention he thrives on.

Shadow's story. Information provided by his foster parents. Two years ago, Don and Evelyn went to a shelter to meet a new possible foster dog. He was a handsome, brindle boy but he had no use for them at all. Didn't want anything to do with them. However, they decided they were ready to take on this challenge and give then Drax (the destroyer), now Shadow, a chance at life. Shadow jumped into the car fine and laid down in the backseat. Ten minutes into the car ride, Don and Evelyn were quite surprised when Shadow got up, went over to Don and kissed his ear and then went over to Evelyn and kissed her ear as if to say "I think you might be okay". However, they quickly discovered that although very smart dog and well trained, Shadow was very wary of strangers. When you reached out to Shadow, he appeared to think he was about to be hit, and developed a defensive system leading them to think that he was likely trained with the fear and punishment method. A short time after taking Shadow home, they reached out to Satchel's to take ownership of Shadow while he remained in their care. Fast forward 2 years, and thanks to the help of Satchel's, Jeff Joyce and his team, and events they attended with neighbors and friends, along with lots of love and patience, Shadow has become a wonderful, fun loving boy. Shadow has learned that strangers are not his enemy and that he can trust them, have lots of fun with them, and get loving, treats and petting back. Although still a little standoffish at first, he will take an hour or so to check you out, and then will warm right up and make you his good friend. Shadow, now 4 years old, is ready to find his forever home with a loving family who will give him a little time to adjust to a new home and feel safe.
