Allman is the definition of a Boxer, from his looks to his personality traits! This 8-year-old boy is always looking for opportunity to play, and loves making everything a game. He is a great ball player and may not always bring it back, but his enthusiasm keeps the game going. He enjoys carrying toys around wherever he goes, squeaky toys are super fun, but Kong toys are also wonderful. He also has a prankster side with shoes and likes to untie your laces when you are walking. He is loyal to his friends here at Satchel's but can be a bit picky. He takes a little time to get to know people and, although he is high energy, he prefers a calm first-time meeting. Allman has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. Once accepted, Allman is a loving, playful, intelligent boy who can't wait to be with you. He walks very well on a leash and loves going on adventures. He knows his basic commands and with treats, he can do them with a swiftness. Allman would be the perfect canine companion for someone who loves being active or has a love for and understanding of the Boxer breed. He would do well with a fenced in yard, or multiple walks to get some of the energy down. Brandy was originally rescued from a death sentence by her foster mom wanting to make sure Brandy received the medical care she needed for a torn ACL. Once the medical care was completed the family had hopes of rehoming her due to increased agression toward their first dog who is anxious and deaf. After being unsuccessful in finding her a home, they reached out to Satchel's for help. Brandy appears to have had a bad start to life but received care and love in her last home and is now looking to continue that love in a forever home. Although it was a difficult decision to give Brandy up, the home was just not the right one for Brandy and they knew Satchel's could help find that perfect home. Brandy takes her time warming up to you. She wants to know you’ll be good to her before she opens her heart to you. Once Brandy gets comfortable with you her personality comes out. She is playful and loves to give you hugs! Brandy walks very well on the leash, and she knows basic tricks: sit, lay down and shake. Brandy may be best suited as the only dog in the house because of the reactivity shown in her last home. But, there is a possibility that with the right pairing she will thrive with a doggy sibling! Hi! My name is Pogo, I’m a young boxer mix puppy (my friends think.) I was found in northern Alabama with a really bad leg wound, and missing my foot. My friends up there cared for me until I could transfer to Ewenity Farms here in Florida. I am currently undergoing treatment for an infection, and then I will need another surgery to remove more of my leg so I can live comfortably. I will spend my recovery with my foster family until I am ready for my new home. They’re saying I’ll be a bigger boy (40ish lbs) once I’m full grown. My friends don’t know exactly what happened to me, but it has not affected my outlook on life. I love other dogs, cats, adults, kids, and even all of my new friends at the vet office! My foster mom says I’m an expert snuggler and treat connoisseur. I love playing with my toys (the noisier the better!), foster brothers (wrestling and tug are so much fun!), sunbathing, and exploring everything! I am still a puppy, and working on my big dog skills, like house training, crate training, and not stealing my foster mom’s socks. She says when they are on her feet they’re hers and gives me other toys to distract me (I don’t quite agree, but I’m still learning.) I love to express my opinions on everything, and would really love a home with a backyard for me to run around in. My foster mom says I might be a bit too noisy for apartment living, I just have big ideas and thoughts that need to be shared! I’m not a fan of being left alone yet, I really love being with my people and friends. My foster mom started me in puppy school, since she says we’ll be hanging out for a bit, and they tell me I’m a quick learner and doing really well! I will require life-long joint supplements to support my legs. Are you ready to add some fun and love to your life? Because I am more than ready to provide it!

Shadow's story. Information provided by his foster parents. Two years ago, Don and Evelyn went to a shelter to meet a new possible foster dog. He was a handsome, brindle boy but he had no use for them at all. Didn't want anything to do with them. However, they decided they were ready to take on this challenge and give then Drax (the destroyer), now Shadow, a chance at life. Shadow jumped into the car fine and laid down in the backseat. Ten minutes into the car ride, Don and Evelyn were quite surprised when Shadow got up, went over to Don and kissed his ear and then went over to Evelyn and kissed her ear as if to say "I think you might be okay". However, they quickly discovered that although very smart dog and well trained, Shadow was very wary of strangers. When you reached out to Shadow, he appeared to think he was about to be hit, and developed a defensive system leading them to think that he was likely trained with the fear and punishment method. A short time after taking Shadow home, they reached out to Satchel's to take ownership of Shadow while he remained in their care. Fast forward 2 years, and thanks to the help of Satchel's, Jeff Joyce and his team, and events they attended with neighbors and friends, along with lots of love and patience, Shadow has become a wonderful, fun loving boy. Shadow has learned that strangers are not his enemy and that he can trust them, have lots of fun with them, and get loving, treats and petting back. Although still a little standoffish at first, he will take an hour or so to check you out, and then will warm right up and make you his good friend. Shadow, now 4 years old, is ready to find his forever home with a loving family who will give him a little time to adjust to a new home and feel safe.
