Story
Shadow's story. Information provided by his foster parents. Two years ago, Don and Evelyn went to a shelter to meet a new possible foster dog. He was a handsome, brindle boy but he had no use for them at all. Didn't want anything to do with them. However, they decided they were ready to take on this challenge and give then Drax (the destroyer), now Shadow, a chance at life. Shadow jumped into the car fine and laid down in the backseat. Ten minutes into the car ride, Don and Evelyn were quite surprised when Shadow got up, went over to Don and kissed his ear and then went over to Evelyn and kissed her ear as if to say "I think you might be okay". However, they quickly discovered that although very smart dog and well trained, Shadow was very wary of strangers. When you reached out to Shadow, he appeared to think he was about to be hit, and developed a defensive system leading them to think that he was likely trained with the fear and punishment method. A short time after taking Shadow home, they reached out to Satchel's to take ownership of Shadow while he remained in their care. Fast forward 2 years, and thanks to the help of Satchel's, Jeff Joyce and his team, and events they attended with neighbors and friends, along with lots of love and patience, Shadow has become a wonderful, fun loving boy. Shadow has learned that strangers are not his enemy and that he can trust them, have lots of fun with them, and get loving, treats and petting back. Although still a little standoffish at first, he will take an hour or so to check you out, and then will warm right up and make you his good friend. Shadow, now 4 years old, is ready to find his forever home with a loving family who will give him a little time to adjust to a new home and feel safe. Meet Brew! This beautiful boy is looking for a home where he can enjoy outdoor play, car rides, and time with special people in his life. If Brew could speak, here is what he would tell you about himself.... "I'm a bit on the shy side, but once I know you, I am your best friend for life. Loud noises and commotion scare me, so I'll need a calm quiet home. I know basic commands and am very treat motivated when learning new tasks. I have made new friends here at Satchels, two-legged and four-legged. I did live with cats in my prior home. I enjoy walks on my leash, although I might still pull if I spy a squirrel! My Woof Pack leader helps me adjust to new places and new routines. She says that she adores me! Story
Carter is a sweet, lovable, and fun dog. He is very calm if you give him time to play and run around. He is now 6 years old, but he has a young soul and needs someone who will be able to give him time, love, and lots of cuddles. He does pull on a leash, so some training would be required to get rid of that behavior. Carter has a strong prey drive so he CANNOT be in a home with small animals or infants, but small dogs and kids who can crawl/walk are fine. I do not know if this behavior can be trained out of him. He tends to struggle with separation anxiety so chew toys are ideal, I can provide some. Ultimately, he is a very good and lovable dog, our schedules are just to busy to give him the life he deserves.

Story
Honey is a great dog with a wonderful personality. She is loving and VERY playful. She has been in our home for over three years and has been around our little girls (6 & 4) the whole time. She loves playing and walking. She would be a great dog for an active family who can walk her daily or has a large yard. Things to note about honey: she has a hard time getting along with our other dog sometimes. Most of the time they are fine but they have gotten into a few scraps that have hurt our other dog. I would say she should be in a home where she is the only dog. She has slight anxiety with loud noises and needs a calm and patient adopter.
