Story
Fergus is a 3 year old Pit mix who came to us with his 'sister', Elinor. Fergus is very sweet, playful, and loving. He is the more outgoing of the two. Fergus loves people and attention, he also is usually wearing a big goofy grin on his face! Fergus walks decently well on a leash. We believe both of them were predominantly outside dogs in their previous home, but we also think Fergus would transition well into being an indoor dog if he finds a family willing to be patient with him while he adjusts.Fergus came to us heartworm positive and will need to come back to the shelter for treatment after he is adopted. The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm. The Carroll County Animal Shelter will be closed the last Friday of every month for deep cleaning, staff training, and animal enrichment.April 13, 2024, 5:13 pm

Story
Mowgli is a 1.5 year old Pit mix who is such a sweet, sweet boy! Mowgli loves to play and smiles just about all day long! Mowgli is a just a big ole goofy goober who is so excited to find his furever family! Mowgli can be a bit mouthy, but we have been working on that with him. Because of this, we do not suggest him with very small children. Mowgli is a happy-go-lucky fella who has this 'I love the world' mentality. We are unsure how Mowgli does with other dogs and would suggest a meet-n-greet if you have another dog in the home. Mowgli needs to find an active family who is ready to take on life with him! Story
Ugga is a 1 year old Pit mix who is very sweet and very energetic boy! Ugga loves people and is usually sporting a goofy grin that will make anyone smile! Ugga loves to stick out his tongue and give sweet, but sloppy, kisses! He does pull on the leash though and he will need a little bit of work with manners. However, he is such a happy boy that we think he would be very willing to learn if someone was just willing to teach. Ugga would love to find a family that he can go outside and play ball with, but he would also probably be pretty happy snuggled on the couch watching football on Saturdays!     The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.   Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Story
Toga is a 7.5 year old Pit mix who is extremely sweet, playful, and loving. Toga loves to smile all of the time and his personality is just so contagious! It is hard not to be happy with Toga! He loves affection and will lean into your touch. Toga has a beautiful blue and tan coat with a soft white patch on his chest. He likes hugs and will accept them graciously. Toga is a small for pit mix, weighing under 50 lbs and standing about knee-high. We think he would be a good size for an apartment. He loves to cuddle, but also likes to play, so we think a family setting might be great for Toga. We are unsure how he is with other animals but he is a very happy-go-lucky fella is most areas.Toga has recently been heartworm treated. He has almost completed his limited activity restrictions (as of 2/22/24) but his new family needs to be aware that he was heartworm positive on intake. Story
Junior is a 2 year old Pit/Hound mix. This sweet and energetic boy is all play, all the time! Junior is a goofy boy who hasn't had the best start to life. He came to us, skin and bones, with a deeply embedded collar. It's been a few months of giving Junior love and medical care, but he is finally ready for adoption! Junior currently still has a ring around his neck showing the scars from his past, but in time those will heal too. Junior is a very active boy and needs to find an active family. He has lots of youthful energy and needs to be able to have a yard to play in or regular visits to the park. We do not know how Junior does with other dogs, but we do not suggest him with small children. He can be a bit mouthy and also might knock them over without realizing it. Junior deserves a second chance at life, a chance where he can finally have the life he deserves! Story
Green Bean is a 2.5 year old Pit mix. This sweet boy has had a rough start to his life, but we are hoping that this time he can get a new 'leash' on life! Green Bean originally came to us in 2021 as a puppy. He was shy and thin, but with some work we were able to fatten him up and get him comfortable with people. He was adopted shortly after in early 2022. Since then, poor Green Bean has been abandoned numerous times, this last time being left by his owner when they moved to another state. Poor Green Bean is so confused as to why no one has given him a chance at forever! Green Bean is once again very skinny, and he will need some good groceries to bulk him back up to an appropriate weight. Even through all the hardships, Green Bean still loves EVERYONE! He loves people so so much. He is, however, in desperate need of training. Green Bean is active and has a lot of energy. He needs a patient family willing to work with him to help him be the best dog he can be! Green Bean needs lots of exercise and plenty of room to run around; he is not suitable for an apartment. Hoyte is a a very sweet boy. He loves to just sit there and love you. Hoyte would be best in a one dog household as he is not fond of other dogs. He is great with kids and very gentle with them. Hoyte is indifferent about toys but loves treats. Hoyte just wants someone to lounge around with and be a lazy porch dog. Heartworm status unknown but can be tested upon adoption/rescue.

Story
Milani is our resident shy girl. She came to us in a dog trap after being dumped with her brother. She has grown fond of kennel staff her and greets them with happy wags, but is slow to trusting. Milani needs a calm environment and time to grow comfortable with her surroundings. Milani is treat motivated but still unsure of toys. She is learning it’s okay to be a dog again. Story
Celia has had it pretty rough. This sweet girl came in with her 2 babies with itchy skin all over her body and sores covering her underbelly and ears. Her boys have been adopted and now she says it’s her turn! Celia has recovered quite nicely from what we believe is an allergy of some sort. She has responded well to medicated baths and skin conditioning. Her hair is even starting to grow back! Celia will still need some further care but is on the up and up! She is also the sweetest girl and loves to sit in your lap and get all the love!

Story
Quintessa is an almost 2 year old Boxer mix who very loving and also energetic! This lovely lady is as sweet as she is beautiful. She loves people and has come a long way since she first arrived! When Quintessa first joined us, she was terrified of her own shadow and didn't want to interact with anyone. After some time, she began to come out of her shell and man does she enjoy life now! She is the queen of fetch at the shelter and would play all day if she could. After a game of fetch she has a precious way of sprawling across the floor to cool down after all of that exercise. Quintessa is usually so happy to get out of her kennel that she has a tendency to pull on the leash; but that is easily solved by using a harness since she walks very well when wearing one. Quintessa seems to be ok with most dogs, usually just checking them out briefly through the chain link fence before moving on, but a meet-n-greet is always suggested! She is usually indifferent to the few resident feral cats, although she is interested if they run past her quickly. Quintessa is a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky lady who just needs to find her shot at furever! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.
