Story
Per Buddy's foster mom: 'How is sweet old Buddy still here? I think he just doesn't fit any of the normal boxes. He's a little too spirited for people who are looking for a docile, elderly dog and a little too old for a lot of other people. But Buddy has so much to offer. He's friendly with all people and loves kids. He's great with other dogs, he likes to play, and can accept when they don't want to. He loves soft blankets and knows how to use a pillow properly. He enjoys a short walk but doesn't need much exercise. He is potty and crate trained and nondestructive in the house. He's been an absolute joy to foster and has been one of our easiest dogs.'Buddy is 10 years old and weighs 77 pounds. Buddy's ideal home is one without small dogs or cats.Location: Foster homeBuddy's adoption fee is $150. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please call the shelter to make an appointment or complete an online adoption application on our website.helpingstrays.org

Story
Meet Tammy. Tammy stumbled upon our home about 6 months ago. She was extremely underweight, covered in fleas, and looked like she had just lost her puppies. We think she is around 5-6 years old and she is the sweetest and most gentle creature we have ever met. With 3 dogs already, as much as we would like to, we cannot afford to care for her any longer. Since her arrival she has been spayed, is up to date on all her vaccines, and is currently on a flea/tick preventative. Tammy is great with our other dogs, but she is very needy when it comes to attention. So far she has not shown any signs of an anxiety disorder, and would sleep on the couch all day if we let her. Tammy just wants to love and be loved. We have come to love her like one of our own, and do not want her to go to just anyone. Please feel free to contact me with any questions if you or someone you know would like a new best friend!

Story
This is Larry a 68lb pittie mix lap dog who's looking for his forever family through ActNow! Rescue. He'll keep himself entertained for hours and when he's ready to crash he'll crawl right up onto your lap whether you're ready or not because he's just a big cuddly boy! He loves his zoomies and would do very well in a big yard with a fence. He hasn't been cat or kid tested. He wasn't terribly interested in meeting the other dogs in my house but once he did he was super playful! He would be a great family dog ❤️ Please fill out an application at actnowrescue.net

Story
*Only Dog as he is dog selective but does live with a female dog currently and a fenced in yard*   Beau is a 4.5 year old possible boxer/dane mix   . He is about 80 pounds   . He previously lived in an apartment with his family (including a 2 year old child and a smaller dog) but they wanted him to have a chance to be more active. He currently lives with his foster mom and another large female dog.    He is a happy boy that loves to play ball and loves treats!  He rides well in the car. He knows simple commands and goes in his crate easily when asked. He is happy to sleep on his bed on the floor or in bed with you. He loves to cuddle.     Since being displaced from his home he has developed anxiety. He does not have any aggression towards adults or children but has overcorrected with other dogs. He is currently being muzzle and leash trained so that he can safely be out and about. He is doing VERY well with training as he is super food motivated. He has barrier reactivity (barks if something is on the other side of the fence or window) but is happy to greet anyone he meets once he can be close to them. He is a very well behaved, loving dog when he is in his “safe place”.     Beau needs a person or family who is willing to continue training with him and can be understanding of his needs. He currently lives with a dog that he gets along with perfectly fine but we are limiting him to be an only dog upon adoption. He will need a fenced yard so he can be active as he loves to play ball and run around and sniff.  He has SO much love to give and we hope to find his forever family soon.     If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.
