Story
What is your name? My name is Zamboni. How old are you? I am around 3 years old. What kind of personality do you have? I am high-energy & goofy. I love to be on the go & make a great adventure partner. Hikes. Walks. Going to a park. Playing on the playground. Exploring. Anything outside- I love it. I am going to learn how to swim this summer. My foster mom thinks I am going to love swimming & she can’t wait to take me on a float trip. I love being around people & if you are doing something, I want to be doing it too. I am learning that hanging out at home is fun too & I like to sleep on the couch as long as my foster mom is chilling on the couch, too. I am getting better at being calm & don’t always have to be on the go. I like to lay on the couch & push the pillows off one by one until the couch is ‘just right’ & then I will take a nap. I do this all the time & my foster mom thinks it’s funny. I am not reactive if somebody comes up to the door or I hear something outside. I am working on my manners & have come a long way. I can be mischievous & don’t always know my size. I need firm rules & boundaries to continue being a great dog- I didn’t know a lot about living in a house until Even Chance. I have learned that I can’t pull blankets off the couch & use them as toys…I am learning I can’t jump on people… & I am learning that I can’t drink out of the toilet… I didn’t have a lot of rules my first few years of life, but I am catching on quickly. I am a great dog & once I have this manners thing mastered, I will be even better. What do you like to eat? I love ALL food. Seriously, anything. I am extremely food motivated & will do anything for food. What is your favorite toy? I love toys. My favorite right now is the Chew King rubber balls. I am always carrying them around. My goal is to tear or rip toys apart, so I have to be monitored at all times. I can destroy almost any toy if given a chance to. I am not allowed to have Kongs or anything like a Kong in my crate because I can tear it to shreds quickly. Oh, I also think blankets are toys, so I can’t have those in my crate… yet. My foster mom is hopeful that I will be able to one day. Do you know any tricks? I am learning each day. I know sit. I am learning spin, down, & how to fetch. I am mainly working on my manners & my confidence, but work on tricks sometimes. My foster mom is showing me that my dog bed is a great place to be when I am out & I am learning that I don’t always need to be right on top of people. What scares you? When I first came to Even Chance, everything was scary. I didn’t like going into stores, I didn’t like new people walking up to me, and I didn’t like any new noises I hadn’t heard before. Now, not a lot scares me. I am working on my confidence & do well in new situations if I am with someone that I trust. I might be a little timid at first, but I adjust quickly. Do you like cats? I like to chase cats and try to get them to play. I don’t understand that they are much smaller than me. My foster mom doesn’t think I should live with a cat. Do you have any doggie best friends? I love dogs, especially high-energy female dogs. I LOVE playing. I can be rude when I play, but I am just trying to have fun. I am learning manners when playing. Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion? I live with my foster mom. She has friends over often. They bring their dogs over and sometimes even kids! I love when kids come visit. I am a big dog and don’t always know my size, so she only lets me play with bigger kids, but I do great with them. Describe your perfect day: My perfect day would be a day filled with activities from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. I would love to start it with a car ride and a pup cup from Starbucks. Then, I would like to go on a long hike and have a chance to smell everything. I love hikes. The longer, the better. How is your health? I am healthy. I had an unhealthy coat when I came to Even Chance, so I am still blowing my old coat, but other than that I am great! Where do you hang out when you are home alone? My crate. I am learning that it’s an okay place to be. I struggled with this a lot when I first came to Even Chance. I will need to have a steel crate to keep me safe. Where do you sleep? I sleep in my crate. I used to bark a LOT when I knew someone was home. I didn’t like to be by myself without someone. I am learning to be chill in my crate when it is time to sleep. This is something I am working on & I have come a long way. I need my future adopter to understand how important crate training is & continue to help me succeed. I used to bark for a long time when I first got in my crate, now I am only barking for a few minutes. What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents? I had a few different “lifestyles” before Even Chance. I started my life as a chain dog who lived outside. Eventually, I made it to the APA where I was adopted. Unfortunately, the family who adopted me did not take care of me & I was returned to the APA a year later in horrible condition. My second time at the APA was hard for me & the wonderful workers there helped me find Even Chance through the power of social media. Even Chance is giving me my chance & showing me what life actually should be like as a dog- no chains & no abuse. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they grow up. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.

Story
Captain here, looking for a dog to lead the way? Consider me! I am loyal, goofy, and lots of fun! I can be nervous until we know each other better, but if you lived on the cold/hot hard streets you may be a little wary with new people too. Now, my time at the rescue has really really improved my life and I am SO MUCH more social and outgoing! I am a big, beautiful reddish-tan Pittie/Labrador mix with a white racing stripe down the middle of my chest! Our small canine family came to God's Dogs Rescue in a pickle, a rag tag group of Labradors and one pregnant female! We came to this safe haven with just 3 dogs and now we're a whole lot more! But all of us are now spayed and neutered and READY for furever families who won't leave us to run the streets and starve, we actually have gotten a little chunky, lol and REALLY HAPPY!! As Captain, I'll ensure that you are properly lead and motivated to get your day to day life moving! Well, that's because I need daily walks but besides the point! Some basic information about Captain; he is male, Pitbull/Labrador Retriever mix, and is medium/large-sized boy, at about 60#. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Meet Odin, a lovable 2-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix with a knack for adding a touch of comedy to everyday moments. Odin's playful personality shines through in his charming habit of pretending he doesn't quite grasp his own name or the concept of "going inside" when called - a quirky trait that never fails to bring a smile to our faces. Walking on a leash is a journey we're excited to embark on together, knowing that Odin's determination and willingness to adapt will lead him to success. Meet Nyla, a loving and playful 1-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix who wears the title of "mom" with pride. Nyla's vibrant spirit shines through in her playful antics and her deep affection for belly rubs. When the excitement of playtime kicks in, she has a cute habit of gently taking your hand in her mouth, showing her eagerness for some interactive fun. Nyla has been making great progress in her leash training, proving her willingness to learn and adapt. Baths might not be her favorite activity, as she's a bit wary of water, but her courageous spirit is helping her overcome her fears one step at a time. She's also conquered her initial trepidation of wearing a collar and being on a leash, showing her determination to embrace new experiences. This sweet girl is a fan of knotted ropes and treats - two things that always bring a sparkle to her eyes. While she's currently enjoying the company of her housemates, we're still exploring her comfort level around other dogs. With time and patience, we hope to see Nyla's social circle expand. Nyla's journey is one of growth and transformation, and she's ready to continue that journey with a loving forever family. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will shower you with affection and make every moment a joyful one, Nyla might just be the perfect match for you. Story
Hi my name is River! I'm a pitty mix. I was living life on the streets of San Antonio when my foster mama and I crossed paths! It was a hot afternoon and I was laying in a driveway panting. My foster mama stopped to share some water with me and saw that I had hundreds of itchy, ouchy, ticks all over me! A kind family had been feeding me for about three months but just didn't have the resources to take me in. They had little kids who I loved, they fed me french fries and I gave them lots and lots of kisses before departing on my rescue journey! They gave my foster mama a leash and we started the big walk back to her house. Fortunately for us, we were able to get a ride! It was so hot and my body was so depleted I just wanted to lay in the shade. There are lots of dogs in my two foster houses and I get along with all of them! I love to play with toys and want to play with the other dogs but I'm still working on my confidence. Snuggles and kisses are my FAVORITE though. I could spend the whole day snuggled up on the couch with my human and giving them lots of kisses! I do well in a crate and I'm learning how to walk politely on a leash. I also do well in the car and lay down quietly in the back. I'm a really content and easygoing gal, I'm just happy to be around and follow my foster mama and foster auntie around their houses and snuggle up once they sit down. Great with other dogs (loves to play with the other pitty in her foster house) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)
