Straight from the pasture to your heart, meet the Dairy Dozen: 12 adorable pit mix puppies who look like they wandered out of a Holstein herd and into a cuddle puddle. These little sweethearts are bundles of energy named in honor of Polk County’s beloved dairy farmers—each one a tribute to the hardworking folks who keep kept our milk flowing for generations. They’re already showing smarts and spunk. These pups will thrive in active homes. Whether you’ve got a pasture, a backyard, or just a big heart, the Dairy Dozen are ready to bring joy, laughter, and a little local pride to your life. Set up a time to meet the herd—your future best friend might just be grazing in the puppy pen! If you're interested in adopting one, please fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve an appointment time. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure the puppy will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! #adoptdontshop ##2508484##

Story
Meet Ollie, an adorable pitbull mix who loves people other large dogs. He can be a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, he turns into a huge cuddle bug. He loves to cuddle up on the couch to watch TV with his people, but can also be active and fun. He's obsessed with toys--balls, stuffies, chew bones, tug toys, every kind! He especially loves anything that squeeks and loves to destroy stuffed toys. He is very athletic and would excel at agility or flyball or would be great for an active person or family. He would love to run and hike with his new family and loves water too! He would love a puppy pool in the summer and would love to go to the lake or river with you too! He loves to play fetch and would love a large fenced yard to play in. He loves playing with other large dogs and would especially love a pretty female companion. He does need a home with no small animals or livestock. He's learning commands, but still gets very excited around his favorite people and is still learning not to jump up to give kisses, so he would be best in a family with older kids. He has so much love to give, is your home the right fit for him?  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Margo loves her humans and loves to snuggle. She is a very sweet girl who loves walks, sticks, food and laying out in the sun. She gets along great with our boy dog. After 4 years of being best friends and snuggle buddies with our other girl dog she got into a fight with her while my parents were dog sitting. Since then they have not seen each other. It is not something that we can risk happening again due to us expecting a child. Margo would be a fantastic pet for someone that wants a dog who is loyal and a dog who will love their humans with every ounce. She would do best in a house with no other dogs or a boy dog.

Story
Hey there, I’m Susie! I’m a 4-year-old Bully mix with that classic look — chonky, short, and strong! Right now, I’m hanging out in a foster home where I’ve been learning all sorts of good manners. I even graduated from a 7-week basic obedience class (I’m pretty proud of that!) and my awesome foster keeps helping me learn new things every day so I can be the best doggo I can be. I’ve got a big personality — loving, loyal, and just the right amount of sassy. I’m not a fan of cats, and I can be a bit particular about other dogs, so I’d probably do best as your one and only pet. But trust me, I’ve got enough love to fill your whole home! If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky girl who’s ready to make you smile every day, I think we’d be a perfect match! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Story
Hi! My name is Raspberry Beret! I'm a 2 year old, happy-go-lucky Pitbull mix. My foster Mom tells me I'm a shy but sweet, eager to please girl that loves to PLAY, so I NEED another large active dog in my new home!   I also love playing with toys and chewing on nylabones, but I REALLY love running through the back yard. I get along with my 4-legged foster siblings, and I would do best with a submissive, tolerant male dog that really enjoys playing. I really need a similar size very active dog in the home. Due to my activity level, I'm too much for a smaller dog. I'm a young lady with a LOT of energy to burn and need a back yard in my forever home or a very active person that likes to walk or hike on a regular basis. And I can jump really high so a 6 foot fence would be ideal. I'm also potty trained and after a day of play I do good in my crate at night and actually prefer to sleep in the crate, keeps me out of trouble.    Did I mention that I love to play!?! But what I love most is SNUGGLING (after we've gotten to know each other of course!)!     I would love to become the newest member of a family that will include me in their activities. If you like snuggling after going on new adventures together, fill out an application and my foster Mom will contact you so we can meet! If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Raspberry Beret’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
