Story
Hi! My name is Nolan and I came here on 11/1 with my best friend Sage. Our owner could no longer care or us, so here we are. We had bad skin due to fleas, but we are getting better with medicated baths every week. I'm a handsome young dog that walks good on a leash and responds to corrections nicely. I sit on command too! I'm playful and energetic at times, but also gentle with a kind heart. My pictures don't show what a sweet, generous soul I am. I truly am not grumpy at all!!! I like to play, and I love to be petted, especially on my chest! I hope to have a home with kids (or adults who act like kids!) I hope they have toys I can chase and treats that are yummy. I've been told I'm a real looker, whatever that means. Now the bad stuff: I'm not good with chickens, and maybe not cats. But, other than that, I can be a wonderful family dog. I dream of a home with a fenced yard where I can play tug-of-war and chase balls. Or maybe we can go on walks! If you are looking for a good boy that loves people, just come meet me...and also my BFF Sage! ....... Note: We would love to be adopted together, so if you adopt us both, you get 2 for the price of one! Yep! Both of us for $175!!! A great deal for two great dogs! The 2 for 1 deal is only good if we are adopted together, which is preferred but not required, since they have gotten used to being apart here at the shelter. ...... Please come meet this sweet soul soon! (We keep our posts up-to-date.) We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, on a first-come/first serve basis. The EASIEST and QUICKEST way to make an appointment is to click the blue "Book Now" button at the top of our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/maccoanimalcontrol. Story
"I'm Jackson, a stately 8-year-old pup. Folks say I have the most enchanting eyes and a perpetual grin that lights up my graying face. My journey here started when a kind soul brought me to the Staunton PD, saying I was a stray. Hard to understand how this happened to me, but praying someone will take a shine to an old dog with lots to offer. My hobbies are commands like sit and down, and nothing brings me more joy than belly rubs! I'm a big fan of rolling on my back and showing off my playful side; it's my way of keeping things light and entertaining. Now, when it comes to other furry friends, I have to admit I'm not fond of those feline creatures. So, the perfect home for me would be one without any other pets. BUT...., if you have a doggy companion, let's arrange a meet-and-greet to see if we hit it off. I'm a gentle soul, great with kids, and always ready for some fun and love. If you're looking for a charming older gentleman with lots of love to give, please consider me: Jackson." ........... Please come meet this sweet soul soon! (We keep our posts up-to-date.) He is a good dog but once he saw the cats in the lobby, it was hard for him to focus on anything else. e came to us bc someone dropped him off at the Staunton saying he was a stray. Jackson knows sit, down and loves belly rubs. Definitely NO cats for this fella. He is a good dog but once he saw the cats in the lobby, it was hard for him to focus on anything else.

Story
"Hello, I'm Rain, a beautiful little soul with a challenging start to my short life. At just 9 months old and small for my breed, I was found chained to a tree in the pouring rain, with only a plastic dog carrier as shelter. I was a bit scared when I got here, but I'm happy now! I've already mastered the art of sitting, and I absolutely adore belly rubs, treats, and lively games of tug of war with my favorite toy. I've been working closely with a dedicated trainer, and I must say, I'm doing so well!!! She says I'm incredibly attentive and have learned so much already. Although there's a bit more training on the horizon, I'm determined to absorb every bit of it so that I can be the very best little girl for a loving home of my own. Could you be that special family for me?" ........... Please come meet this sweet soul soon! (We keep our posts up-to-date.) We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, on a first-come/first serve basis. Story
Nina is a red nose pit and full of energy. She loves to play with balls, bones, sticks and will bring them back to chase again. She is good with kids, cats, and other dogs, just watch out she will try to licking you to death if allowed. She is very good natured and loves to run and play. She has been create trained and comes with her kennel along with food bowl, and 3 gallon water bowl. I hate to let her go but due to circumstances I have no choice other then to find her a good home so she can be happy and get the attention she deserves. I'm coming to a point that if I can not find her a home by the 25th of May, I will have no choice but to take her to a shelter which is something I really do not want to do. Nina is a very loving and full of energy but also a good girl.

Story
Dug came to us about a month ago. He was on the list to be euthanized (overcrowded shelter). We worked with a rescue that transports dogs at kill shelters to bring him from Cali to our home, just outside of STL. He was a bit anxious at first, but became attached to my hip in less than a day. My husband and I slowly introduced him to our other pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) and the intros with the dogs went well, but we found overtime that Dug was a little too interested in the cats. So, we made the very heartbreaking decision to find him a new home where he could be comfortable. Dug struggles being alone at first, needs to be monitored in a yard with a fence less than 5 feet tall, and would need to avoid a home with cats. Dug is an extremely loving and silly little guy. He is great on a leash, seems to pick up quickly to training, and gets along with other dogs. If you choose Dug, you are choosing a friend for life. From Dug: My name is Dug. I have just met you, and I love you.
