Story
Meet Millie, a lovely 1-year old Pit Bull Mix who weighs 44.8 pounds. We don't know much about her past, but we know she didn't have a great start to life.  Her foster family found her abandoned in a park last summer.  She was emaciated and neglected.  As you can imagine, it takes her a little while to feel comfortable enough to trust new people, so she needs an adult only home.  With a lot of love and TLC in her foster home, Millie has blossomed into an energetic, playful, and loving girl. She loves to go for long walks, play fetch in the backyard, or take a nap on your lap.  If you're willing to go slow and give Millie the time she needs to adjust, she'll reward you with all the love you could ask for! Millie is house and crate-trained.  She gets along well with cats, but she needs to be the only dog in the household because she resource-guards her food and toys. Her ideal home will be one with a patient and loving owner who will provide plenty of activity to exercise her body and mind. Millie's foster mom mentioned that she can be vocal when she doesn't have enough activity. Once she trusts someone, Millie is a happy and loyal girl. If you're interested in meeting her, please apply today!  Her adoption fee has been sponsored for an approved adopter. There is a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Opal is a 1 1/2 year old pit bull mix who weighs 35 lbs, and is all love and energy! This girl is a very friendly, happy, playful dog.  She would do well in most homes, is good with dogs, cats, everyone she meets!  She can be a bit timid occasionally if she gets scared, but she bounces back right away. As a young dog, she's still a little jumpy and mouthy, so kids over the age of 8 will be best for her. Opal doesn't have a mean bone in her body, but she could accidentally topple a small child with her love.  She also enjoys playing with other dogs, or is fine just coexisting if they don't want to play.  Foster family is still working on house-training, since Opal hasn't quite figured out how to alert when she needs to go potty. However, she keeps a clean kennel. She knows "sit," "come," and "kennel."  Still working on leash training also, as she can be a puller.  Opal is described as medium energy - she's fine chilling in the house with a bone or toy to chew on, but also makes a great hiking partner.  She does get spurts of Zoomies! In typical pittie fashion, she loves to snuggle. In the rare event she chews on something inappropriate, a verbal correction is enough to get her to stop.  Opal will need an adopter who will work with her on training to be the best dog she can be so that her reactivity doesn't become an issue down the road. She can be a whiner and occasional barker towards dogs and people, but she can typically be redirected with a treat. If her adopter is diligent about redirection right off the bat, there shouldn't be issues in the future. Opal is the sweetest girl who deserves the world!  Her minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. To be considered for adoption, you must first submit the application found at:   http://fs16.formsite.com/WishBoneCanineRescue/adoptionapplication/index.html For information about this dog's breed(s), visit: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm  Wish Bone Canine Rescue  1303 Morrissey Drive Bloomington, IL 61701 www.wishbonecaninerescue.org           Since its our desire that you have a pet you can enjoy a lifetime of love with you, we take special measures to ensure that the pet is the best match for you and your family.  We require that you complete our online www.wishbonecaninerescue.org (Please give us 24 hours to verify your information). Story
This sweet senior is Parmalee - she's a 9-years young American Pit Bull Terrier who weighs about 55 pounds.  She had a loving dad who was her best friend and adventure buddy - they would often go for car rides, which she loved.  Sadly, her dad passed away, leaving Parmalee heartbroken.  A nice lady took her in and has been caring for her since February.  Parmalee is now ready to find a new loving home to spend her golden years. She is house and crate trained, though she is great loose in the house.  At night she sleeps on her dog bed and loves a blanket snuggle under. Parmalee enjoys taking brief walks, spending time in the yard, and playing with other dogs.  She's good with dogs of all sizes - in fact she doesn't pay much attention to the little dogs in her foster home, even if they are being obnoxious.  Parmalee is even good with the cats.  While she is good with all the animals in her foster home - she does need slow introductions to new people and dogs.  Her foster reports that she does best when introductions include going on a walk.  She gives "love nips" so she'll need a dog tolerant of that behavior. Her foster mom describes her as friendly, outgoing, confident, adaptable, happy, playful, and loyal.  She's also quiet most of the time - unless she wants your attention, then she'll be sure to alert you that she needs some love.  Her foster mom believes she'll do best in a home with a fenced yard for her to play in and she'd love another dog for company, though that is not a requirement to adopt this sweet girl. If you have room in your heart and home for this senior Pittie, apply today!  She'll bring a lot of love to your life.  Her minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Hey, friends! My name is Major, and I am a 9-year old Pit Bull Mix who weighs 49.4 pounds. Don’t let my age fool you, I still have plenty of playful pittie energy in me!  I am so thankful for my Wish Bone family! Unfortunately, I was surrendered to a Chicago Animal Control in July when my owner passed away so the past few months have held lots of change in my life. I don’t let that stop me, I am very friendly, outgoing, and happy, although I generally tend to keep quiet. I previously lived with another female dog, but I need slow introductions with other dogs and monitored playtime to make sure everyone is comfortable.  I take treats very well from my humans, I have pretty good leash manners, and I keep a clean kennel at my new shelter. I hope to find my forever family soon so I can share all of my love and energy! His minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Peach is one peach of a dog. She's a 1.5-year-old Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever Mix who weighs 50.9 pounds. She is house-trained and uses a bell to tell you she needs to go outside. She does well loose in the house. Although Peach s leeps wherever she wants, she loves to snuggle up in bed. This adorable girl loves canine companions and children. She doesn't do well with cats.  Peach knows how to sit, stay, and "free." She is learning how to shake. Peach's foster mom describes her as "a wonderful pup" who is o utgoing, loyal, and friendly wit h her loved ones.    Peach has learned boundaries when playing with her human friends. If you say "ow," she immediately stops playing. She lets you know she wants attention by pawing at you. She loves to put her human children to bed each night (supervised), and loves to snuggle. Peach's funny quirks include sitting like a human and laying down and sleeping sprawled out like a flying squirrel.  Peach's minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
