Story
Ruthie's story is very sad. Her owners (never found) tied her to a telephone pole at a gas station in the middle of the night on a cold winter's night. Two young men who pulled in to get gas early in the morning saw her and took her into their car. They then contacted us to see if we could take her in. She was so scared and freezing cold she just cowered in fear for about a week. We are convinced that she was physically abused as well. Little by little she started to come out of her shell. We left her in our nursery building for a few weeks because we thought she may be pregnant. It was obvious that she had had a litter at some point in her life. Turns out she wasn't pregnant so we put her in with the general population where she has thrived. She loves playing with the puppies, she's great with cats and wonderful with children as all Pitties are. She has been spayed, is heart worm negative, fully vaccinated, crate trained and house broken to a doggie door. She is small for a Pittie so we call her a "Pocket Pittie" Ruthie needs her forever home, could that be you? She is ready for immediate transport. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $400

Story
Hunter is a gentle 60-pound Pitbull mix with a heart of gold. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own! Hunter enjoys his daily walks and is working on not pulling on the leash. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 He’s curious, playful, and loves other dogs! He’s been sharing a pen with a Boxer, though we feed him separately to avoid any food aggression. Hunter does the cutest little dance when it’s time for his meals or walks—it’s sure to put a smile on your face! While he hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, Hunter did have a run-in with a neighbor’s chicken , so he might be best suited to a home without small livestock. Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Hunter find their forever homes. Story
ChatGPT said: ChatGPT Meet Bosworth! This stunning boy was found tied to a park bench in 92-degree heat without food or water, left there for over 7 hours. When animal control declined to intervene as he was not aggressive, I stepped in to ensure his safety. Bosworth has been nothing but a sweetheart since, displaying a gentle and somewhat playful nature, though he much prefers snuggling over playing. He's all muscle—a truly gorgeous boy who would bring joy to any family. Bosworth is well-trained, both potty and crate-trained, and enjoys car rides and walks. He adores any form of attention and is excellent with small children, showing no tendency to jump up on them, suggesting he may have been raised with kids. When it comes to food, he sits patiently, hoping for a treat. He has been fully vaccinated, neutered, and is eagerly waiting to meet his forever family. Please note, pet insurance is required prior to pick up. We recommend Trupanion for its comprehensive coverage of all new injuries and illnesses, direct payments to medical facilities, and unlimited payouts for the lifetime of your pet. Send a copy of your policy to deb@pawsfromafar.org. Paws From Afar advocates for regular adventures for our dogs—they thrive on new sceneries, smells, and experiences, whether it's exploring new paths or swimming in the ocean. All our dogs are up-to-date on vaccines and are altered. The adoption fee is $400. If you see the pup listed, they are still available. We bring our dogs up from the south, and while we don't offer meet and greets, we're happy to connect you with the pup's foster before adoption. To submit your adoption application, please visit pawsfromafar.org. Please do not send an "I'm interested" note—apply instead. We look forward to seeing your applications! ##2190526##

Story
I'm Randall! When I came to the shelter I was in bad shape, I was bald and skinny but the girls took great care of me and now I'm healthy as can be! I am a bit afraid of new situations and need some encouragement but in my past when I went to new places people weren't very nice and shoed me away, so I'm trying to learn not everyone is going to do that. I am great with other dogs and cats because after all in my experience they were never mean to me! The girls here at the shelter are doing a great job at showing me I can trust people and I am learning everyday!

Story
Lolita is a lively bully breed/terrier mix! She LOVES people and other dogs. She would love a playmate! She has a lot of energy, so training and manners would do her well! She’s highly food and toy motivated. Lolita is bound to make you laugh— she’s a silly girl! She hasn’t had direct contact with any of our cats, but has seen them through a baby gate and showed little interest; she from sniffed and just went back to her toys! She still potties in her kennel. She LOVES children but would do best with older children since she tends to jump which can result in scratching. Lolita is a lovely little girl ready for a home— she will light up your life with laughter and fun!

Penelope aka Sweetpea is an adorable bully breed mix pup. She was found wandering alone as a young puppy on the side of the road. She LOVES other dogs, and currently plays with another puppy around her age. Penelope is low to medium energy. She is loving and gentle with children, and can be a little shy when first meeting someone. But once she opens up she’s super affectionate and even playful!

Story
Hello, my name is Ramsey. I am about 5 years old. I'm a Pitbull Terrier Mix who is up to date on all my vaccines and neutered. I have spent about half of my life in a high kill shelter area just outside of Houston Texas, the other half was as a stray in the dangerous Texas environment fighting to stay alive. I had a home for a little while. In April of 2023 I was adopted, the shelter staff was so happy for me! The home I went to wasn’t nice to me though and I was picked up again as a stray in July of 2024 by the same shelter. My friends at the shelter were shocked at my state. I was extremely underweight, my body was full of wounds and scars, I was defeated by life, but somehow, I was still so excited to see them! The shelter staff healed my wounds and took great care of me! They have taught me how to sit, stay, come, shake and walk like a gentleman on a leash! My friends at the shelter all loved me so much that while I waited for my ride to Maine, they got me a room at a dog hotel! They know I love to meet new dog friends and human friends! They even sent me with toys to my new foster home because they know how I like to play! I also get to go on car rides that I just LOVE. I sleep every time! I think adventures are great! I am enjoying Maine but would really love a forever home where I can snuggle and be loved. Ramsey is ready to be your BEST FRIEND!! Ramsey loves other dogs and all people but can not live with cats. https://form.jotform.com/242237497275162

Story
Herbie is a lovable 70-pound Boxer mix with a heart full of gold. About a year old, he was found wandering the back roads of Tennessee without a collar or microchip, battling a tough case of mange. While no one has come forward to claim him, Herbie is now looking for his forever family! His skin is healing beautifully, and his sweet, curious nature shines through more each day. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 Herbie enjoys his daily walks and is getting better at leash manners. He’s also learning to curb his excitement when greeting people! He’s great with other dogs and, after playtime, is happy to sit quietly by your side. He hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, but we think his gentle personality would be a great match for the right home! Story
This pretty little English Bulldog girl is called Natasha and she is guessed to be 8 years or a little more, and weighs 42 lb. She was found at a construction site wandering as a stray in a small town in Middle Tennessee.  The people that found her couldn't believe that such a sweet girl could possibly be lost.  After posts were made on Facebook and social media, no one ever came forward to claim her. The shelter was full at her small town and the people that found her just could not take her there even if it could accept her. She's too special. This little girl is recovering from a former flea infestation and has some patches on her back that are missing hair but growing hair back now.  She's got the normal senior hip arthritis and needs some pain meds from time to time and some good joint medicine will help a great deal. Her teeth are good, her eyesight is fine and her sweet personality is over the top of the chart. She's affectionate with everyone and oh so sweet. We have found her to be good with other dogs and housebroken. We have not tried her with cats,  but she seems to have the personality that would be loving and welcoming to all creatures that she meets. She walks a little slower as can be expected at her age, but she exudes a gratitude for having been given a place to stay.  As they always say, a rescue dog will always let you know that they appreciate what you have done for them.  With Natasha you can see it in her eyes and her spirit. She is a joy that someone needs to have in their life.   If you understand the Bulldog breed, then you will be happy to know that this is a rare girl to be offered. She's healthy and all other ways except a little arthritis and missing a little bit of hair. Natasha is special and we are looking for that very special person or family to adopt her. Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested. Please mention where you live since we adopt not only to Tennessee residents but also to Northeastern states and we transport there PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.October 20, 2024, 9:54 am
