Story
Rucker’s story is one of incredible resilience. At just 1.5 years old, this sweet Bully mix has already faced more than his share of hardship — he came to us as a stray after being shot for eating chickens as a roaming stray. As a result, Rucker had to have a front leg amputated… but don’t feel sorry for him, this boy is unstoppable.  Now fully healed and thriving, Rucker is all about love, play, and second chances. He’s incredibly dog friendly and loves to romp around with his four-legged buddies, though plays rough/rowdy. (Sorry — no chickens or cats for this guy!) He’s also has the affectionate, people-loving personality that makes him an instant favorite wherever he goes. Rucker is fully crate trained and house trained, with excellent house manners. He even sits patiently and waits for you to clip on his leash before heading outside. And don’t think for a second that having three legs slows him down. Rucker tackles stairs with ease, leaps onto the couch for cuddles, and has discovered a deep love for lake life. He’s currently being fostered lakeside and lives for swimming and splashing around. Cuddly, confident, and incredibly sweet, Rucker doesn’t know a stranger and is always ready to make a new friend — human or dog. His past may be rough, but his future is nothing but bright. Story
*FOSTERED IN NORTH CHARLESTON, SC*  Ace is a young, joyful pittie boy with a heart as big as his smile. His story hasn’t been easy. After being hit by a car in July and abandoned at the vet, he fought his way through recovery from a broken front leg, a fractured pelvis, and hip surgery. But Ace doesn’t dwell on the past. He greets every day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a true zest for life! Currently, Ace is being fostered by a professional dog trainer and gets her stamp of approval! He thrives with structure. He absolutely loves training sessions and happily participates in his physical therapy exercises. He’s still (understandably) a little wary of fast or large vehicles, but his confidence grows with each walk. Because of his previous injuries, Ace’s exercise will need to remain structured and on leash. Too much free play can leave him sore. He now enjoys comfortable, controlled walks of about a mile and benefits from continued targeted PT to strengthen his left hind leg. We will share his PT exercises!  Ace is social, playful, and full of personality. His play style can be a bit rough as most bully breeds have, so a patient canine sibling and an owner able to monitor play would be great. Indoors, he does best with management around other dogs, as he can be a little possessive of high-value chews and his crate. These behaviors have improved significantly with training and clear rules, and his next home will need to continue that consistency. He’s working hard on leash manners, settling on his “place,” and learning that he doesn’t need to bark when something startles him. He’s a smart, willing pup who blossoms with guidance, boundaries, and routine. Ace’s Ideal Home: Ace will thrive with someone who understands the needs of an adolescent bully breed. Someone committed to ongoing training, structured exercise, and providing the leadership he looks for. Breed experience is a huge plus. His foster would love to continue supporting his training after adoption to ensure a smooth, successful transition. If you’re ready to invest in a resilient, loving, goofy young dog who will give you his whole heart, Ace might just be your perfect match. He’s overcome so much already; now he just needs a family to call his own.  Adoption Application: www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt  ************************Ace is located in a foster home. Story
Meet Tyson! Affectionately known as “Tyson the Mighty Bison!” While he may not be massive in size (just 38lbs!), his heart, spirit, and resilience are larger than life. Photos don’t quite capture how compact and small this little guy truly is. Tyson is a gentle, affectionate boy who thrives on connection. He loves being close to his people, whether that means curling up in your lap, draping himself across your arm, or nestling in wherever he can fit. He also loves to play with other dogs and has a goofy side that comes out during games of chase, tug-of-war, or his personal favorite - a little game we call “bite-n-booty.” He warms up beautifully with a slow, kind approach and responds especially well to treats (mealtime is a highlight of his day!). While he’s doing great with crate training, Tyson is still working on house training and will need a patient adopter to continue helping him adjust. It’s possible he didn’t spend much time inside a home before coming to us, but he’s learning quickly. Tyson recently met some cats and, true to his sweet nature, was a bit scared but respectful. If there are children in his forever home, they’ll need to be older (teenagers and up), as loud or sudden movements can make him a little nervous. If you're looking for a small/medium-sized snuggle buddy who’s equal parts tender and active, Tyson might just be your guy. He’s ready for someone to show him that a gentle, loving home can be forever.  DNA Results (Embark): 36% American Bully, 25.7% Chihuahua, 16.5% Small Poodle, 14% American Pit Bull Terrier, 7.8% Miniature Pinscher Adoption Application: www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt ************************Tyson is located in a foster home.
