Story
Please read this post in its entirety. Please acknowledge that you have done so. Your response serves as your preliminary application. Please provide the requested information. I cannot stress that enough. I need more than "I want a dog, live in a house, and will love him". If you give me only 3 sentences, I will not reply. Meet Gnocchi, an approximately 5-month-old pit mix. This little guy and his brother, Potato, were displaced from a homeless camp where many residents don't seem to be able to keep dogs from reproducing, even though help is available. He is now neutered, weighing in at 35 pounds. Needs a bit more leash walking manners. Expected to be at least 50 pounds. The ideal family will be a young, active family with a secure fenced yard and involved in family fun and adventures. That includes being an indoor family member- not a lawn ornament or guard dog. Tell us about you, your family, your activities, your property, the city you live in, other pets in your home, and whatever else puts you on top. The more information about you, the better. What can this companion expect from you, and what are your expectations of him/her? Additionally, we will not meet halfway. Please prepare to meet in person without hurry, and be willing to have a home evaluation and viewing of your social media. There is a fee for placement to offset medical and care. Age-appropriate placement is at the discretion of the guardian advocate. Please allow several or more days for a response, as I review inquiries. I appreciate your understanding—Raleigh's Rescue Advocacy. *DNA testing is not performed, and we can only give you an assumed breed or breed mix.

Story
Meet Pierce — the sweet, soulful pup with the most endearing little ears and a heart overflowing with quiet love. Pierce came to us from a hoarding situation where, despite good intentions, things simply became too overwhelming. Since arriving at the Ranch, this gentle boy has been slowly but surely blossoming into the affectionate, trusting companion he was always meant to be. At his core, Pierce is pure kindness. When he first came in, he was understandably timid — especially around leashes. Just the sight of one would make him freeze or flatten to the ground, likely a response shaped by his past. But with patience, gentle handling, and steady encouragement, Pierce has made truly beautiful progress. He now walks calmly at your side, taking in the world one thoughtful step at a time. He’s learning to trust people, too. Pierce greets new friends with soft curiosity, offering a gentle sniff before settling nearby to enjoy their quiet company. He may not be the first to leap into your lap, but once he feels safe, he loves staying close and soaking up calm affection. And one of our favorite quirks? Pierce loves car rides! Not in the usual head-out-the-window-with-tail-wagging kind of way — instead, he sits on the floor of the back seat, lifting his head just high enough to peek out the window. It’s as if he’s taking in the world with quiet wonder, one careful glimpse at a time. Pierce gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has done great meeting cats as well. He’s also not food aggressive and does not resource guard, making him an easy, gentle presence around other animals. His calm, steady nature makes him a comforting friend to both people and pets alike. This tender-hearted boy is ready for the next chapter of his life — one filled with stability, kindness, and a family who will cherish his soft spirit. If you’re looking for a companion who will grow with you day by day, Pierce might just be your perfect match. Call the Ranch today to meet Pierce and experience the quiet magic he carries wherever he goes. Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog. While they are with us, each and every rescue dog receives the best of care in a loving and nurturing environment. Their routines include daily playgroups or partnering with dog buddies, quality time walking or being groomed, and two meals a day with dog biscuits for dessert. All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated.  The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300 (unless a reduced fee applies )  APPLY NOW       June 5, 2026, 7:28 pm

Story
Meet Arlow – Your Playful, Loyal, Toy-Loving Companion! Say hello to Arlow, a charming and spirited gentleman who’s ready to bring joy, love, and a whole lot of playtime into your life! Though he’s a mature guy, Arlow absolutely defies his age—he’s active, curious, and always up for the next adventure. Whether it’s a walk, a game of fetch, or just some quality time with his favorite toys, Arlow still lives life to the fullest. Arlow has been patiently waiting for his forever home since July 2023, and we can’t wait for someone to see the amazing dog he is. He thrives on human attention and would love nothing more than a cozy bed, a few good toys, and a family to call his own. This smart boy is already well-trained—he knows “Sit,” “Down,” walks well on a leash, and is incredibly attentive. He absolutely loves toys, especially durable ones like Kongs and Nylabones. But fair warning: don’t say the word “toy” unless you’re ready to see pure joy (and maybe play a lot of fetch)—he takes playtime very seriously! Arlow adapts well to his environment but seems happiest and most at ease in a quieter home with a big yard where he can stretch his legs and relax. He has done well with a few dogs during his time at the shelter, but he may prefer being your one and only. He’s the kind of dog who builds a deep bond with his person and may be happiest soaking up all the love and attention for himself. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving dog who still has plenty of pep in his step and a heart full of love, Arlow might be the perfect match. Let’s help this long-time resident finally find the home he deserves! Call the Ranch to schedule a meet-and-greet with Arlow today—he’s been waiting just for you.
