D’usse and I met when she was 9 weeks old. I went to visit a friend and her family one night and she told me a puppy needed a home ASAP. She asked me if I could take her, and I did. Since then, I have had the pleasure of getting to know her personality. She a very active dog and loves to play, extremely cuddly and loves to lay on your lap. D’usse is incredibly intelligent and would make a perfect family dog. I have a super busy schedule now due to unpreventable circumstances and can no longer give her a good quality of life. Feel free to reach out and get know this sweet girl and see if she’s a good fit for your family!

Meet JJ (aka Jekyll) – The Dog with the Crooked Smile and the Biggest Heart 💙 JJ is a 4½-year-old Pitbull mix with the cutest floppy ears and a wonderfully crooked smile that melts hearts everywhere he goes. This sweet boy has had a rough start but has never lost his gentle spirit. JJ was once in another shelter where, through no fault of his own, he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, a kind-hearted community member stepped in and saved his life. Sadly, JJ turned out to be quite the escape artist and found himself needing a more secure home setup—so he came to us, ready for his real second chance. At the shelter, JJ has shown what a good boy he truly is. He’s calm and collected in his kennel, walks nicely on leash, and loves to show off his skills—sit, down, shake, and, of course, his signature grin! In the play yard, he’s happy, goofy, and enjoys spending time with people. He’s been around children before and would love a home where someone is around most of the time—JJ thrives on companionship and just wants to be loved. He can be a little nervous around unfamiliar men at first but warms up with patience and kindness. He’s also done well here with doggie friends who are mellow and non-dominant (after a good meet-and-greet, of course). JJ has already been through so much, and now he’s just looking for someone who will keep him safe, loved, and close by. Meet Rudy! He came to us as a stray and may have been on his own for quite a while - very thin and hungry, ready for a comfortable place to land. Rudy is a great leash walker who knows Sit and Down, and is learning Place. He is eager to please and loves to show off his skills. He's very smart and treat motivated, ready to learn more. He hasn't shown any real interest in toys so far, but that could come with time. Rudy seems housebroken and is an expert cuddler as well. When he buries his head in your lap, you can't help but fall in love with him! Rudy has been friendly with other dogs and has several canine friends that he plays with regularly here at HES. He's a gentle player and simply loves being out to socialize with his peers. This pint-sized sweetheart would love to have a home of his own. He will make some lucky person a wonderful, loyal companion!

Herbert is an 8-year-old pittie mix with the best ears and an even better personality! He's a total sweetheart- affectionately called "Herbie The Lovebug" - and is described as the BEST snuggler ever! Herbert loves to curl up next to (and sometimes even on top of) you for some cuddles, and is such a loyal and loving guy. He loves to be pet, enjoys his daily walks and playtime, and is a wonderful companion for his current foster family. Potty trained, a couch potato, and a good listener, this guy has it all! Herbert is pretty dog selective, so he may not get along with other dogs, but he has lived with cats in the past and did well with them! His ideal home would be one without young kids, but teens or older children would be fine. He is a student of our training team and has learned lots of obedience skills during his time at the shelter, so we are offering his future family 2 FREE training sessions with The Dog Wizard to get his new people caught up on all that he's learned at HES! Herbert is a wonderful boy who is waiting patiently for his forever family to finally find him and recognize what a truly special dog he is!
