Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet.  Godwin is a 3.5 year Pit Bull mix boy that weighs 69 pounds. He recently came to us from McKamey Animal Center after they reached out to the community for help due to having too many animals in their care. Here is what our awesome dog walking volunteer had to say about him, 'Godwin is a wiggly sweetheart with the ones he knows……he’s a great hiking partner, an excellent car rider and because he’s not going to be seeking attention form strangers, he will form an incredible bond with the lucky one who adopts him. He also super enjoyed his romp in the river.'Hi friends, I'm a lucky enough to be at this shelter and the name's Godwin......I like the way it's said with intention..... not your typical pup name, and I'm not your typical pup. Godwin means 'good friend' and reflects a sense of reliability and loyalty.....and that most certainly describes me. I'm not going to be your bff right off.....that's for the Max's, the Buddy's and the Daisy's of the doggy world.....first off, I'm going to quietly lose my mind because you've gotten me out of the shelter and I wanna see/smell/experience it ALL!! Omigosh, was that a squirrel??! After I get some energy out and remember how I got here, I'm gonna study you and the admiration will begin, but you may not realize that right away.Maybe I'm a bit demure, maybe a bit mindful, perhaps a bit aloof....truth be told......you know our types end up connecting the strongest with the one who chooses us over the other more outgoing pups. I'm a perfect gentledog in your car. You can bribe me quite easily with a treat but know that I'm letting you.....I'm actually a smart whip. I don't necessarily need to meet all your friends.....only your closest ones, and other dogs?? I've met a few, I like a few, I don't like a few. I do prefer the girly dogs.....and I can hang around with a gentle pup.....but I don't necessarily need a pup friend on the daily. I really wanna focus on you!!! Do you want to be my adventure pal, sidekick, road tripper (even if it's to the store)? Are you a bit of introvert with a big heart for black shelter dogs? We should meet.  The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for heartworms & heartworm preventative medication, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only.  If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    February 10, 2025, 9:38 am

Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Look at the sweet face of Oakleigh! She is a 1.5 year old Pit Mix that weighs 49 pounds. She had a litter of 6 puppies around Thanksgiving of last year. All but one of them were given away before coming to us and we now have her daughter Phoebe as well. Oakleigh was also the first dog spayed through our Community Spay & Neuter Program.Oakleigh recently went out in this heat and got to enjoy splashing around in the water. The volunteer that took her out says, 'Oakleigh is clingy and uber affectionate. She had her head draped across my leg the whole time we were in the truck. If I had let her she would have ridden in my lap. She very much enjoyed getting out and smelling all the new smells. Good on a leash and easy to manage. Obviously she likes water! This super sweet girl is young and healthy.' Oakleigh is all smiles and loves her toys. Come and meet this special girl! If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    January 30, 2026, 3:28 pm

Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Junie is ~ 3 years old Pitbull mix girl with pretty brindle coloring. She originally tested positive for heartworms which is no surprise since she had probably never seen a vet before...but as of July 22nd, 2025, she has completed her heartworm treatment, has tested negative, and is now CURED!!! Now that she is heartworm negative, she can be officially adopted. Junie is one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet! She ALWAYS has a smile on her face and is excited for every part of every day. Junie was rescued when she was found sitting in the middle of the road. Her rescuer pulled her car over and she jumped right in. Her ribs and backbone were showing and we had to start her off with small meals as she devoured her food very quickly. We cannot overstate the importance of heartworm preventive. Giving your dogs monthly preventive is THE BEST way to defend against heartworms. If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    January 30, 2026, 10:38 am

Story
Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet. Zyla is simply the cutest!!! This 1 year old girl is a Pit Bull and Pug mix (at least that is our best guess) and she weighs 36 pounds. Zyla was rescued from our friends at SCRATCH while they were working on a local TNR project. She lived in a small pen with 3 other large dogs and had a litter of 9 puppies. Sadly, only 1 puppy survived but was fortunately taken home by one of the rescuers and has already been adopted. Because of Zyla's past environement, she is shy and startles easy, but is already doing great with our lobby dogs AJ, Nakoa, and Skyy. She blends right in and follows their lead when greeting new people. She is really sweet and it makes us so happy to see her confidence grow every day. She has even started laying at the feet of our front desk employee Janet wherever she goes. Here is what Zyla has to say about herself: I'm Zyla, and I had a rough start to life. For this reason, I'm shy around new people, but hanging around with other dogs in the lobby at Pet Placement Center has taught me a lot of things--most importantly, that cheese is the best food ever! I've also learned that a gentle paw on the arm elicits pets 100% of the time (possibly because I have the best puppy dog eyes in town). I recently spent some time in a foster home and made huge progress: I learned how to walk on a leash, figured out some of the weird sounds a house makes, and realized how much I enjoy sleeping in a big bed where I get cuddles from a human all night. I'll need patience and practice to continue acclimating to a home environment and get comfortable meeting new people, going on car rides, and walking on a leash. But once I've figured out you're my friend, it doesn't take long to win my love! If you are seriously interested in adopting please fill our our online application here: https://bit.ly/3HN4Tqq Check out our website at https://www.petplacementcenter.com/    January 30, 2026, 10:38 am

Story
Bobby is a 2-year-old pit bull mix with a calm, thoughtful soul and just the right amount of playful sparkle. He makes an excellent walking buddy — happy to stroll along at an easy pace, stopping to sniff all the good smells along the way. He especially enjoys peaceful walks in the woods, where he can explore at his own speed and just enjoy being out with his person. Bobby is a volunteer favorite, and it’s easy to see why. He’s gentle, polite, and content to spend time soaking up pets and listening to quiet conversations. While he’s mostly a laid-back guy, he does have the occasional playful burst that shows off his fun, smart side and brings a smile to everyone around him. He loves nothing more than a good snuggle and a good adventure. Bobby is the perfect companion; bed to flower bed. He will gladly join anyone on their walk, lie down, or car ride. He may need some time getting fully acclimated with a household, and does love a lot of attention. Quickly though, his snuggle bug nature rises to the top. He doesn’t participate in playgroups, but he’s not reactive when leaving the kennel and has consistently shown himself to be calm and well-mannered on walks. Bobby is housebroken and would likely prefer to be the only dog in the home (and ZERO cats!}, where he can enjoy all the love and attention for himself. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who appreciates the simple joys of life — walks, love, and companionship — Bobby might be your perfect match.
