Story
Our family is looking for that special someone to take our middle dog Amber. She is a pit mix and around 6 years old. With the exception being me she has not bit anyone. I may have tried to correct her getting into something and she made it to her kennel. More my mistake. She is a lover and cuddling is her favorite thing to do. If you don’t have any animals and your kids aren’t younger she would be a great fit. She is protective around her food and her kennel (safe place). She gets along with our dogs fine,but new dogs she does become uncomfortable for a while. Cats it depends on the day it’s more curiousity. She did get nervous when one was around her food dish. Older kids she is fine with younger kids we don’t leave unsupervised. We have two kids under 3 so our head is always on a swivel. It’s not fair for her to spend extra time in a kennel or our heated garage. We tried rehoming once and the person left her outside in a kennel. She is an inside dog. She dug out. We took her back.

Story
Zion is a young female pittie mix who found herself at a high volume kill shelter where dogs get euthanized daily. When it was her turn, we rescued her and what a good save she was. She is a pocket pittie, i.e. small in size for the breed, and great with other dogs and also with cats. She is playful and loving and will be your best friend. She does well in a crate too. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Topper...seriously one of the sweetest, calmest, most submissive dogs I have ever met. He doesn't bark, he is not hyper, he loves to cuddle, he is submissive with other dogs and never shows any aggression even if a dog is trying to be dominant with him, and is living with cats and kittens. He was picked up by animal control with a large gash on his neck. The shelter fixed him up but then he ran out of time and was placed on the euthanasia list. I am so glad I got him out because he is the best. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Lucy-female-spayed-4 years. Meet Lucy! This sweet girl is so cute. She`s a smaller sized girl in relation to height but she`s a solid 40 pounds. Lucy came to CCHS as a surrender because her owner was no longer able to care for her. She is crate trained, enjoys car rides, and comes when she is called. Lucy gets along with other dogs and likes attention. She also walks pretty well on leash. Lucy seeks attention and just wants to be loved on. Can you help Lucy?Our wonderful Lucy has been here since October. She went through ectopic ureter surgery, recovery, and despite efforts from all her care staff and veterinary team, her kidneys are not doing the best and she is in renal failure. According to her surgeon, her case is very complex.Despite the recent discovery that she is in renal failure, she`s doing well and living a full life right now. So, we have decided to give her a chance at a good life for as long as she has. We are seeking a hospice type foster or adopter for Lucy. Lucy is a happy-go-lucky girl. She enjoys doing all the dog things she can, she likes other dogs but is not cat compatible. For her, car rides are fun, playing is fun and living her best life while she can, is FUN! She is a very social and happy girl who loves to be around people, and she enjoys love and attention. Lucy needs you! She is currently on a k/d prescription diet.
