Story
Ajax is a handsome, shy guy who has spent a long time in the shelter waiting for a family of his own. When you aren’t comfortable with people right off the bat, it’s that much harder to convince a family that you’re the one for them. In fact, Ajax often spends much of his time on the back side of his kennel where the public can’t even see him, because it’s quieter and less overwhelming for him there. This long stay resident needs a special family who can see that he’s deserving of a loving home. Ajax has spent time in both a foster home and, briefly, an adoptive home. He was housebroken and would wait by the door to let his people know he needed a bio break and slept near his person at night. He was also reportedly crate trained and was working on being comfortable walking on leash with a Gentle Leader. That home didn’t turn out to be the right fit, so Ajax returned to the shelter where he’s been waiting… and waiting… and… you got it. Waiting. An ideal home for this special guy will be one with people who will be patient as he settles in and who will continue to work with him on training and socialization. He’ll do best in a quiet environment without constant visitor traffic (or one where he has a safe space of his own to relax when people come over). Will he be the snuggliest, cuddliest dog you could ever imagine the first night you bring him home? Nope- and that’s ok!!! Let him be himself and come around in his own time.“When I first met Ajax, I gave him a few treats in his kennel to get to know him. Once out, he is a good boy to walk. As time has passed, he is more comfortable with me. I often walk him to the picnic table in the shade and he enjoys a head massage and pets. He enjoys treats too. We go on different routes and he likes to stop and sniff along the way.”- PACC volunteer`Ajax is a nervous boy, but he allows petting. He`s easy to leash up and overall is a very sweet boy.` – PACC volunteerWhen meeting other dogs in playgroup, Ajax was nervous and preferred to keep to himself. He`d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it`s a good fit. Please ask about how you can help Ajax today!

Story
My name is Deli! I`m a 6 y.o. 58 lb pointer/staff mix. I have been living with my foster mama for almost 8 months now and would love to finally meet my forever family! I love going on walks, playing in the hose and laying in the sun. I love ALL people, men, women, children, babies, grandparents, etc.! I have no problems with other dogs and have lived with big Dobermans and small yorkies. I can be leash reactive but I`ve been doing really well with my foster mama with my martingale collar. I will sleep wherever you tell me too and I will NEVER go potty in your house. I LOVE roadtrips and going to new places. I`m very tolerable of grooming, bathing, clothes, shoes, etc. I`ve never lived with a cat but I`d be willing to meet them in your home. I don`t like being stuck in a kennel but I promise you can leave me alone in the house and I will be so well behaved. Ask about me TODAY! email pacc.adoptafoster@pima.gov

Story
We all know the best part of a wonton is the inside, and that’s true for our Wonton too! Sure, he’s handsome on the outside, but he’s also got a big old heart tucked away inside, and he’d love to find the right person to share it with!! Wonton spent some time in a foster- here’s what his foster said:“Wonton has done extremely well. He is very housebroken and affectionate. His favorite time of the day is breakfast and dinner! He loves food. Wonton is well behaved, very obedient, and is kennel trained…he’s just an all-around great, great dog with a heart of gold!!!”And here’s what Wonton’s volunteer friends have said about him:“Wonton is such an amazing dog. He handles well and is very friendly. On our walk, he mainly wanted to sniff at a slow pace or stand in front of me for pets. He quietly leaned in and scooted closer whenever I stopped petting him. It was hard to leave his side! He`s an adorable teddy bear of a dog.”“Wonton is a sweet pal who handles very easily. He is a nice walker, keeping himself occupied by exploring around him while maintaining a nice loose leash walk. He takes treats nicely and is such a sweet dog! I really enjoyed my time with him. He is so friendly and cuddly, asking politely for treats and hugs. He climbed up on the bench next to me and was delighted to get scratches on his head. He is such a good boy. I love his big smile.”“Today was my first time walking Wonton. He knows sit, come, look, place and seems familiar with being in a crate. He allowed and sought cuddles during the walk and was so easy to walk. Sweet guy, lots of cuddles!”`Wonton was easy to walk and leash and likes to sniff everything. He loves to be petted and is friendly, calm, and mellow.”“Wonton was easy to leash and, once out, was a delightful walker. Loose leash, responsive to me, and accepted love and treats readily. The return trip was effortless.”Wonton accompanies a volunteer on regular outings away from the shelter and can hilariously always be found with his favorite green ball in his mouth. He was appropriate and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup, mostly keeping to himself. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Ask to meet Wonton today!

Story
Lexii is a gentle, sweet little piglet with a calm, mellow personality. She walks well on leash and is a perfect medium- sized baked pitato. Here’s what her volunteer friends have said about her:“Little round Lexii was the same sweetie pie today that she always is. Easy to leash, easy to walk and absolutely loves having her neck scratched. She squirms close for extra scratches around her neck and shoulders. A great snuggler and a happy girl. It`s always relaxing to spend time with Lexii.”“Lexii was a very good girl today. Easy to leash, easy to handle, good walker. She loves to sniff, sits for treats, takes them gently, makes good eye contact, and enjoys some petting. Very good girl and a delight to walk.”“Lexii is an adorable little nugget. She’s friendly and easy to leash up for a walk. She had a happy wagging tail and enjoyed staying close by me. She also has lovely leash manners and is very enjoyable to walk. Lexii is a lovely lady!”“Lexii was easy to leash up and is not reactive to other dogs. It took me a while to find the front clip on her harness since she`s so low to the ground, and she didn`t mind the handling. Walks well on leash and enjoys sniffing all the smells. I petted her and she enjoyed that.” Lexii would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. She has shared her kennel politely and likely prefers other dogs who are not pushy and who will give her space when she asks for it. No cats or other small pets please! Ask to meet Lexii today!

Story
Wilber is 3 years old and is shy at first but then becomes a very loving boy. We have been doing training with him for 2 years but can’t seem to get him to get along with the other animals in our home. He gets along with them majority of the time, but is becoming guardy over his spaces. He is only guardy with other animals and has no issues with humans. There was an injury with the other dog and we can no longer have him in the home. We got him at 8 weeks old. Hoping to find him a new home with someone that can give him the love he deserves. He loves walks and going on adventures. He is very smart and picks up on new tricks very easily. He may need to be in a home with no other animals or with an experienced trainer who can help him.

Story
PACC says Buddy was found near airport, but we have no idea where he came from. Jan 23, 2023 pick up date. Buddy has been through a lot in the past few months, but I’m happy to report that he`s doing well now. It’s difficult to determine exactly what breed mix Buddy might be, but Boxer - Pitbull or Boxer - Staffordshire Terrier are both possibilities. The healing nose wound; scars on his neck and ears could indicate a rough past, but it`s also possible that they were from an accident.Since he was so sick and lethargic when we received him, I’m not 100% sure on his attitude – he’s changed a lot since he’s been here. PACC vet did find an old glob of material and hair when they resected his colon. It seems he may have eaten some glass while out on the street. With no previous history, it’s tough to say what he experienced. His surgery was around Feb 10. I think he just finished healing up around April 1.Buddy was house trained when we received him and very well-behaved around guests including a free range toddler, teens, and men and women of various ages. I feel guilty leaving him when I have to go into work, but dogs are resilient and can adapt to being alone for periods of time as long as they have food, water, and a safe space to rest. His teeth were full of gunk so I’ve made a habit of brushing his teeth daily so the odor and cleanliness have improved. He allows me to mess with his teeth, and mouth. I’m happy to report that his fur has substantially improved since we first got him, which I think is a sign of good health. Any diet change has resulted in diarrhea and he vomited a few times when we first got him (likely due to food changes and obstruction in colon.) I slowly got him on a chicken kibble from Costco. WARNING: His farts are silent but violent. He usually eats at 7am and 5pm. He often goes to bed on his own at 8pm and naps alot throughout the day. With snacks at 10 am and 3pm. After his colon surgery I even fed him a little meal at noon. As for his behavior around other dogs, it`s not uncommon for dogs to become more reactive on a leash, especially when they`re around other dogs. I think we need to continue to train him to walk on a loose leash and to stay calm around other dogs. He doesn’t have terrible leash manners and socialization skills, but he’s changed a lot since his colon resection. So I’m not sure WHO the real Buddy Mc. But But is. I’m not sure if he’d be nice to cats since he was persnickety with

Story
Layla is the sweetest girl with some special needs. She has diabetes and requires an insulin injection twice a day. She is also blind, but she doesn`t let that stop her. Once she is used to her surroundings she navigates pretty well. She does well crating at night or when we have to leave her at home. She eats really well and drinks a lot. She will let you know when she has go out by standing by the door or crying if she`s in her kennel. She loves belly rubs and gets along with big and small dogs, cats, and kids. She is pretty chill and loves to sleep on her bed or lay in the sun on a cool morning. Her tail is always wagging.
