Story
Jefferson is around 5 years old. He is a Staffordshire terrier mix/bully type mix. He is housetrained, kid friendly and dog friendly with certain dogs (with proper intros). He does not love the crate but amazon sells these cool heavy duty crates and he does well in that. We don't fault him for that though, a lot of dogs that come from shelters do not like crates, it just takes some training and positive reinforcement and many dogs can learn to actually like their crate. Jefferson is not a fan of felines so no cats for him. He is searching for a family that is moderately active but also has some chill. Story
Ruby was set for euthanasia in south GA.  She was saved by a concerned resident and then they asked that we bring Ruby into PAC.  We couldn't say no to that face!!  She is dog selective and has some scarring that could lead to answers on why she is selective.  She's a beautiful and wonderful dog.  If you have room for Ruby, please fill out an application.  She will give you all of the love you'll need.  We are unable to answer every email.  If you are interested in our pups, please fill out an application and we will contact you.  Thank you for your patience and understanding while we receive quite a few applications on our dogs and have to match each one carefully for their safety and what we feel will the best fit for the pup.   Visit our page at www.pupandcatco.com   Please consider signing up for recurring donations on our website https://www.pupandcatco.com/donate/   Thank you      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We do not have a shelter facility and our pets are housed in foster homes, vet clinics and local boarding facilities. Story
Chica was found abandoned in a crate with no food or water. She was pulled by PAC from the shelter on the day she was to be euthanized for space. Chica is very sweet and petite. She is a snuggler, but also still has energy of a puppy and is learning quickly. She is honing her potty training skills. Even though she's little, she's best with bigger dogs as playmates due to her energy. Story
Our brown eyed girl is looking for that special family to call her own! Dayzee came to Dirt Road Doggies Rescue with a litter of puppies who have all been adopted. Although Dayzee is 7 years old she is still a puppy at heart. She often gets the "zoomies" and loves to roll in the grass for a good back scratch. She loves her toys and sometimes will let you play fetch. She can be quite the comedian, and does well on a leash. Dayzee is house and crate trained and enjoys going for rides. Dayzee is a medium sized gal at around 40lbs. She has soulful eyes and is a daily reminder to enjoy the simple things in life, especially cuddles. Dayzee recently did a 5K as her first big outing and she did wonderful! There were people running by, cyclists, dogs off leash in yards nearby, and dogs on leash as participants in the race. Dayzee paid no attention to any of them. She just enjoyed the sunshine, stopped to smell the flowers, and wanted pets from the other human particpants. She was so happy to just be outside on a long walk. She finds joy in everything she does.  To meet or adopt Dayzee, complete an adoption application at www.dirtroaddoggiesescue.org ##716013##

Story
Three years ago Marilynn was found lying by a ditch on the side of the road in a rural county of Alabama. The Vet that treated her there thinks she was clubbed. When a dog that is used for breeding and fighting is no longer of any value to these deranged monsters they just hit them in the head to save the cost of their bullets.  Somehow Marilynn survived this monstrous act and was trying to pull herself out of the ditch she was sharing with other dead dogs.  As common in bait dogs, it appears her teeth were filed down. Her breasts were severely engorged and oozing infection. Her eyes, ears, and skin were also infected. The Good Samaritan that found her said she was trying to wag her tail and seemed grateful for their loving touch and kindness. She was rehabilitated at the vet for 4 months, then she was my foster for an additional 6 months. Sadly after 26 months the family that adopted Marilynn abruptly decided to return her to us due to absolutely NO fault of her own, saying they didn’t have time for her. This broke our hearts. This incredibly sweet, affectionate, obedient, loyal dog deserves so much better than to once again be discarded.  We love and adore Marilynn but she needs, wants and deserves her own family. We have 14 dogs including a medical foster. We do the best we can for her but can see she longs to be with us. Because of her traumatic past we feel it’s best for her to be an only dog. She interacts with our other dogs but only in a managed/controlled environment. We believe she is not dog aggressive but appears to be dog selective.  We believe Marilynn is approximately 8 years old. She is spayed, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, received a ProHeart 12 injection and is microchipped. Weighs 44 perfect Lbs and is a total snuggle bug. LOVES toys and treats. To know her is to love her♥She is precious soul.  Marilynn is truly special. A survivor. Never a minutes trouble. She will melt your heart.   If we can find a foster for Marilyn everything will be provided to care for her. She is loyal companion, protective, affectionate and the absolute sweetest girl ever.    ##903465##

Story
Sherlock is an affectionate, cuddly lovebug when you finally get to know her. She is turning 8 as of 2024. She is an extremely active dog who loves to run, so she would greatly benefit from a home with a backyard or someone who takes frequent walks/hikes. She does well on a leash and enjoys long walks, but does get a bit carsick. She has lived in a home with 6 other dogs and did fine but is food-aggressive. If around other dogs, food would have to be safely secured and hidden away. She would need to be fed in a crate. Otherwise, she does very well and has a long history of using other dogs as pillows. She always has a smile on her face and insists that she is a lap dog so she can cuddle with you on the couch or in the bed. She responds well to training and would be very easy to teach new tricks. For an older dog, she does not act her age, and instead acts like a puppy.
