Story
Big Dog is a gentle giant with a big personality. Some of her favorite activities include lying around, using other dogs as pillows, staring at you, and sleeping. She is pretty lazy but enjoys cuddles and thinks she is a lap dog. She is turning 9 years old this year but doesn't show it. She has lived in a home with 6 other dogs, is crate-trained, and is not often food-aggressive (she has been able to be fed outside of a crate with other non-aggressive dogs). She is very playful and enjoys tug-of-war either with you or other dogs. She does well on car rides and a leash. She would most likely do well in a relaxed home with periodic exercise.

Story
Atlas is the kind of companion that we all long to have. Loyal, playful, tender, and kind best describe this handsome spotty boy. He is approximately 1-2 years old, neutered, and has had all his shots. He prefers a large dog only home because sometimes he paws at small dogs and they do not like that very much. Atlas showed up on my doorstep about three weeks ago. It was a hot day and he looked hungry so I gave him some food and water. Ever since that day, he has not budged from his spot sitting right outside my door. I took him to the vet this week and got his shots but he had no chip or collar. He is incredibly sweet and I would keep him if I was not moving in November. When it is raining outside, I let Atlas inside and he has been well behaved. He has not tried to chew anything other than his bone or ball and he has not peed once while inside. He also knows commands such as sit, stay and come here.

Story
Our brown eyed girl is looking for that special family to call her own! Dayzee came to Dirt Road Doggies Rescue with a litter of puppies who have all been adopted. Although Dayzee is 7 years old she is still a puppy at heart. She often gets the "zoomies" and loves to roll in the grass for a good back scratch. She loves her toys and sometimes will let you play fetch. She can be quite the comedian, and does well on a leash. Dayzee is house and crate trained and enjoys going for rides. Dayzee is a medium sized gal at around 40lbs. She has soulful eyes and is a daily reminder to enjoy the simple things in life, especially cuddles. Dayzee recently did a 5K as her first big outing and she did wonderful! There were people running by, cyclists, dogs off leash in yards nearby, and dogs on leash as participants in the race. Dayzee paid no attention to any of them. She just enjoyed the sunshine, stopped to smell the flowers, and wanted pets from the other human particpants. She was so happy to just be outside on a long walk. She finds joy in everything she does.  To meet or adopt Dayzee, complete an adoption application at www.dirtroaddoggiesescue.org ##716013##

Story
Three years ago Marilynn was found lying by a ditch on the side of the road in a rural county of Alabama. The Vet that treated her there thinks she was clubbed. When a dog that is used for breeding and fighting is no longer of any value to these deranged monsters they just hit them in the head to save the cost of their bullets.  Somehow Marilynn survived this monstrous act and was trying to pull herself out of the ditch she was sharing with other dead dogs.  As common in bait dogs, it appears her teeth were filed down. Her breasts were severely engorged and oozing infection. Her eyes, ears, and skin were also infected. The Good Samaritan that found her said she was trying to wag her tail and seemed grateful for their loving touch and kindness. She was rehabilitated at the vet for 4 months, then she was my foster for an additional 6 months. Sadly after 26 months the family that adopted Marilynn abruptly decided to return her to us due to absolutely NO fault of her own, saying they didn’t have time for her. This broke our hearts. This incredibly sweet, affectionate, obedient, loyal dog deserves so much better than to once again be discarded.  We love and adore Marilynn but she needs, wants and deserves her own family. We have 14 dogs including a medical foster. We do the best we can for her but can see she longs to be with us. Because of her traumatic past we feel it’s best for her to be an only dog. She interacts with our other dogs but only in a managed/controlled environment. We believe she is not dog aggressive but appears to be dog selective.  We believe Marilynn is approximately 8 years old. She is spayed, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, received a ProHeart 12 injection and is microchipped. Weighs 44 perfect Lbs and is a total snuggle bug. LOVES toys and treats. To know her is to love her♥She is precious soul.  Marilynn is truly special. A survivor. Never a minutes trouble. She will melt your heart.   If we can find a foster for Marilyn everything will be provided to care for her. She is loyal companion, protective, affectionate and the absolute sweetest girl ever.    ##903465##
