Story
Apply here: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/ Introducing Bonnie! This adorable cow-print gal weighs it at just about 52 pounds (we suspect she’ll top out around 60) and will be turning one this summer; we think that means she’s both the perfect medium/large size and all of the unbridled puppy playfulness you love with a little more maturity/progress than an actual fresh puppy. Bonnie has proven to be an eager and quick learner in her foster home! She is happy to nap and sleep the night in her crate without complaint, and she keeps it clean. She is also housebroken now, signaling her need to go outside by sitting patiently at the door. (Foster dad does caution that if she’s to be left alone for more than an hour or two, she’s best crated to prevent an accident.) Bonnie is also enjoying learned new commands, and will reliably “sit” or “leave it” when instructed. While we’ve yet to see Bonnie around cats or children, so far she’s never met a human or canine stranger—she confidently approaches those with four legs ready for playtime, and the two-legged creatures are clearly there to pet her, right?? Bonnie would like your attention, please and thank you. She’s super friendly and ready to make you her new BFF. We think Bonnie would enjoy a similarly playful canine sibling, but would likely irritate a less energetic dog. Bonnie is still young and very much the epitome of “big puppy energy.” The good news is that she’s down for however you’d like to tire her out: Fetch? Absolutely. Go for a walk or (better still) a run? She’ll race you. Swimming? Oh, yes! She does require quite a bit of exercise to tire her out, and so the bad news is that if she is not properly exercised/stimulated she is likely to be a bit naughty (as bored puppies tend to be). If you’re just looking for a couch buddy, Bonnie is not your girl. But if you want a workout pal who will then wiggle into your lap, give you plenty of kisses, and snuggle the night away, Bonnie can’t wait to meet you. Vacuum cleaners are Bonnie’s greatest fear (which is sort of comical, given how unafraid she is of everything else), but she says she’ll endure yours if you’re going to be her fun-loving forever home. Do you have a Bonnie-shaped hole in your family? Contact us today! If you'd like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card. This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week's worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead. All In-State Applications will be considered with some preference given to more Local Applications. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS FOR DOGS SIX MONTHS OR YOUNGER. We do not have a facility and operate through a network of foster homes. Thus, we do not have a phone number. If you'd like to discuss potential adoptions, please email at adopt@athenscaninerescue.com.

Story
We adopted Rylee back in January of 2020, right before Covid took over. It was that first big step my husband (boyfriend at the time) took together. She was 6 months old at the time and she will be 4 in July. She is so loving and only wants to love on you and be your person. She helped me through some of the worst days of my life. She loves to bird watch, loves to sun bathe and loves adventures in the woods. She is the best outside dog for an adventurous person. She knows how to sit, shake, lay down, come. She is potty trained and leash trained as well

Story
Meet shorty. This cutie is the perfect size! He came to us after his owner passed away. He is good with people, dogs, and cats. Since shorty is in his golden years, he would love a calm and quiet home to enjoy his reitement in. Slow introductions when meeting new friends so a meet is a must to ensure a good fit.June 6, 2023, 6:12 pm

Story
Nova is such a loving and sweet dog. She loves to be a cuddle bug and be with you as much as she can. She will try to be a lap dog as often as she can, especially on the couch. But if she can’t be in your lap then she’ll settle for at least touching you. She freely gives plenty of loving kisses to anyone and doesn’t know many strangers; is always happy to meet someone new especially if they give good back scratches or belly rubs. She loves to play whenever she can and sunbathes at every opportunity. We are looking to find a loving home for her where she can be loved to the fullest. It would be good if she were in a home with no little kids (under 8yrs old).

Story
Lupin was found as a stray and taken to Fulton County Animal control. He was found with an embedded collar, was emaciated and had a broken hip. Poor guy hasn’t had the best start to life but he is resilient and the sweetest boy! He has had his hip repaired with surgery and his neck is healing well. He does still have a slight limp but this will get better with time and exercise. He is dog friendly and kid friendly.

Story
Letty is very smart and loves to be curious. She has lots of energy and likes to be busy.  She loves to play and her favorite toys are balls, rope, and any squeaker toy.  She loves to challenge herself each time on how fast she can get the squeaker out.  Her favorite treat is a kong with peanut butter in it.  She loves her outside play time and her cuddle time on the couch equally.  She is also very good alone in her kennel when you leave your house.  Letty is currently in a home with dogs, 2 cats, children above the age of 8 and chickens. Letty will clean and bath the cats until the cats let her know its enough.  Letty also goes to adoption events and does play with her sisters. She is starting to venture out to other events.  She does need medications for long car rides as she can get sick. Letty was 1 of 3 sisters surrendered to Pup and Cat at 4 months old. She is an almost 1 year old Belgian Malinois Mix. Being so young, she isn't always aware of her size and loves to climb on you for cuddles or kisses. She loves kids, to play and needs stimulation and someone who will continue to work and train her. She is the mama bear of the sisters and will do well with other dogs. She can be vocal which is good for potty.  Letty must have at least a 6 ft privacy fence.  We receive many emails per day with questions about our pups.  Please put in an application at www.pupandcatco.com if interested, it isn't a commitment on your end, but it does let us know if you are a match with our pups.  Thank you!!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We do not have a shelter facility and our pets are housed in foster homes, vet clinics and local boarding facilities.
