Story
Meet Mortimer (aka Morty)! Morty is a 5-year-old, large mix breed with a striking white coat adorned with black spots and expressive, gentle brown eyes. This sweet, calm guy is as lovable as he is handsome. Though he’s a bit of a big guy, Morty has a soft and easy-going nature that will melt your heart. He’s well-mannered and knows several commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," "down," "wait," and "fetch." If you’ve got treats on hand, he’s all ears—Morty is very food motivated, which makes him easy to train and redirect if needed. He’s also a toy enthusiast and loves playing with both people and on his own. Whether it’s a squeaky ball or a tug toy, Morty is always up for a fun game! Morty is a curious dog when it comes to other animals. He’s not overly excited or pushy with dogs, and he’s shown mild interest in cats with a laid-back attitude. He can pull a bit on the leash, but with a slip lead and nose loop, he walks like a dream, especially when there’s a treat involved. Though he’s calm in his kennel and enjoys napping on his bed, Morty would thrive in a home with older children due to his size and tendency to jump when excited. He’s potty-trained and has kept his kennel clean, proving he’s a smart and reliable companion. Morty came to us from the Brownstown Animal Shelter and is ready for his forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and playful pup who’ll be your new best friend, Morty is your guy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Mortimer please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Meet Ziggy, a handsome gentleman with a heart of gold! This sweet soul is looking for a loving home where he can relax, enjoy some quality yard time, and go on slow, leisurely walks. Ziggy is an excellent walker when he’s wearing his harness, and he loves meeting new people—he’s a huge snuggle bug who craves affection from everyone he meets. Ziggy’s ideal home would include a comfy couch for napping and people who can spend lots of time with him, as he does experience some anxiety when left alone. He’d be a perfect fit for a home with older, respectful children and no other dogs, as he prefers to be the only pet. Ziggy was surrendered by his previous owner due to some tough times, and now he’s hoping for a fresh start with a family who will love him unconditionally. Ziggy is fully potty trained and knows basic commands like "sit" and "paw." If you’re looking for a loving companion who will fill your home with warmth and cuddles, Ziggy could be the perfect match for you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Ziggy, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Meet Max – A Distinguished Gentleman Seeking His Forever Home Max is a charming older gentleman who has spent the last five years in a loving home but recently found himself back with us due to a divorce. Through it all, Max remains the best boy, winning hearts with his gentle and tolerant nature. Max has been a devoted family member, helping raise his baby human brother and even teaching him how to walk! He’s wonderfully patient with people of all ages and is unbothered by the cats who joined his previous household later in life. When you meet Max, you’ll definitely get those sweet “old man” vibes—but don’t let that fool you! He’s still spry enough to clear a baby gate and has a knack for counter surfing, so securing your food and investing in a locking-lid garbage can is a must. He has a soft spot for all things edible, especially if they’re in a trash can! Max isn’t asking for much—just a quiet place to spend his golden years. He’d be perfectly content with a leisurely walk each day, a cozy bed to curl up on, and a family to snuggle with. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to share life’s quiet moments, Max might just be the perfect fit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Max, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Bonnie is a sweet and spirited 2-year-old mix breed who is ready to find her forever home! This beautiful girl came to FMAR as a stray, and while she was initially a bit scared, she has quickly blossomed into an enthusiastic, playful pup who’s excited to take on the world. With her adorable face, big brown eyes full of love, and an endless supply of energy, Bonnie has captured the hearts of everyone she meets.Bonnie`s favorite activities include going for walks, playing with toys, and lounging on the couch for a well-deserved nap. She has a playful nature and absolutely loves greeting new people with tail wags and happy jumps. She could benefit from some leash manners and a little guidance to help her calm down when greeting people. Basic training will help her be the best pup she can be!Bonnie has done well with all the people she’s met at FMAR, and while she hasn’t had the chance to play with other dogs yet, she is definitely curious and excited to see them when on leash. Because of her energetic and jumpy personality, Bonnie would do best in a home with older children who can match her enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion who’s ready for adventure and affection, Bonnie is the one for you! Story
Look at handsome Charlie- guessed to be around 12 months old, weighs 57-60 pounds currently, and is an Am. Staffordshire Terrier (mix?). Charlie comes to us after the whispers of his previous owners saying, "I'll just go dump him". Charlie has done well with other dogs, older children, and cats. He is crate trained, working on potty training (he was marking, and we hope his neuter helps end this), he does well on a leash, and knows a few basic commands. Charlie has been known to try to sneak away when given extra freedom- so a fenced yard is recommended but open to hearing steps that will be implemented if your yard isn't. Charlie loves to run in his fosters' backyard- chasing sticks and balls to play fetch, running with his foster home sibling, and being a goofy boy. Charlie loves catching sights and nature, cuddling on the couch to watch TV, loves hugs, takes treats patiently, and LOVES TO RUN! His foster states the following on his overall demeanor: "Charlie is an energetic and lovable boy. He seems to have grown accustomed to the routine in our home very quickly. He is accepting and curious- and not at all aggressively." If you believe this hunk of a boy would make the perfect addition in your home- follow the link below to complete the required ADOPTION APPLICATION. **PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must live within an hour radius of Toledo, OH. *Charlie is neutered, microchipped, current on shots, and on his monthly flea/heartworm prevention. *His adoption fee is reduced to $150 in hopes for a home for Christmas 2024 *Visit our website to find the required ADOPTION APPLICATION to help this sweet boy find his forever home.
