Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ZYM was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. He along with 3 other pitties that he was saved were extremely emaciated with pressure sores that have been treated for and are all doing amazing having gained weight and healed. Zym is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 36 pounds, but is now around 50 pounds. He has shorter legs than a Pit-Bull so guessing he is more bulldog, however, we have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. Sadly due to a family emergency with the foster family having to leave town for a few weeks, Zym had to come back to the rescue on 4 Sept. FOSTER UPDATE: ZYM has been with his amazing foster family (who adopted his brother) since 16 August, and he is doing great. Pointers that they have shared so far is that he is an amazing dog, has settled in really well with few issues considering this is the fist time he has lived in a home. He still needs a little work on house training but taking him outside straight after eating seems to be working. He is a bit of a food hog, which will be from him being starved and so for his health, his food and treats need to be monitored. He is sensitive and just wants love. He is GREAT on a LEASH. He has been doing great on basic commands and already knows lay down, back up, no and sit. He is a goof ball and just wants to play when working on training, he just loves all the attention. He is friendly with all people and dogs, but on meeting cats he did snarl and seem to want to attack, so we are not allowing him to go to a home with cats. He is great at alerting to noises outside, he does still have a lot of “puppy” in him and still does chew and he has the most adorable EARS that will make you smile every day. * * * * Since Zym has been here (just over a month at the time of this update) he has done amazing, he has gained weight (too much and is now on a diet lol). He is playful, affectionate, goofy, happy, full of love, kisses and cuddles. From what he must have endured to now it is a complete change, he is so much fun. He deserves an extra special family who can give him the life he deserves and help him forget the abuse, neglect and starvation he has suffered. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue YouTube channel and photo albums on our Facebook page to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Zym is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $50. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - NO CATS AS PER HIS FOSTER FAMILY.
