Story
Chip - Needs foster or forever home Male About 1-1/2 years old Walks well on a leash Knows basic commands House trained Crate trained Needs to be an only pet Needs an adult home Up to date with vaccines Neutered Chip came into the rescue in July as an owner surrender. He is currently living with a foster-based trainer and is ready to move to a foster home Chip is a sweet, loving boy who wants badly to please :) He can be shy at first with people he doesn't know, but given a few minutes - and especially given a few treats - he warms up quickly. He needs a home with a family experienced with the breed, who will give him time to relax and settle into a new home. Chip would love an active family to take him out and about and continue to introduce him to new people, places and things. He would enjoy a fenced yard where he can run and play in nice weather. To adopt Chip please fill out the form at our website: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application Or to foster chip please fill out this form: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application

Story
🛑🛑 Friends, PLEASE pump the brakes! Rascal’s story is one you don't want to miss. 🛑🛑 4 years ago, an emaciated and neglected 1 year old Rascal was surrendered to animal control by terribly abusive owners. This poor boy had every bone in his sweet body poking through his skin, but somehow his spirit never waivered. He went to a shelter where he was delighted by the kindness of the staff and the regularity of food, something he hadn't known yet in his short life. What he and the shelter workers didn't know is that his small cage would define the next 4 years of his life, as day after day would pass without a loving family showing up to finally take him home. One of our amazing foster moms saw a plea for help from the shelter and her heart broke after learning that this sweet dog, described as a total gem, had lived his entire life either horribly abused or in the loud, crowded confines of a shelter. She headed down to meet him, almost not believing that a dog could experience all this hardship and still be as sweet, kind, and happy as the shelter workers described him. Upon arriving, she was pleasantly surprised to meet this gem of a boy and knew she had to intervene. Thus Rascal’s rescue story with CPR began. Rascal is currently in foster with 8 (!) other dogs and he’s doing awesome! He’s fully house and crate trained, walks super nice on leash, loves car rides, and simply can't get enough snuggle time and butt scritchins’ from anyone with a free hand. And while Rascal has been great with the other doggos in foster, he’s learning to live in a home for the first time ever, so we think a home without a dominant male dog would be best for him so he has some space to stretch out and experience all the things he’s missed out on. Like falling asleep with his head in the lap of his favorite human. Like getting the zoomies and having the space to rip around the yard without restraint. Like snuggling with his humans and having them say it's the best part of their day. Sweet Rascal has defied all of the odds and come out the other side of his terrible situation with hope and love, and shown resilience above that of most dogs (or even humans). We see a lot in rescue, but this is one of the rare cases where even we can't believe the horrible cards one sweet soul has been dealt, and we’re thrilled to hopefully be the turning point for this very goodest boy. Rascal just needs someone, for the first time in his life, to give him a chance at a happy ending. Are you the saving grace Rascal has been waiting for? Rascal is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! Story
Jer Bear is that handsome, good time, enjoyable guy that loves everyone and everyone loves him right back. This super cool dude is a year old, potty and crate trained, and walks like a dream on the leash. He is mellow, doesn't jump on people, and is an all around super chill fellow. As a matter of fact, he has never meet a person that he didn't vibe with! He has been hit-or-miss with other dogs so we think he would do best in a single dog home. Jer Bear loves plush toys, chasing tennis balls, and we can't confirm this, but we believe his favorite color is tie-dye. This free-spirited fellow will be glad to hang out with you on the couch, stroll around the neighborhood with you, or hang out at your favorite coffee shop enjoying his pup cup. If Jer Bear sounds like your jam, fill out an application for him today! Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. Story
Rocket is waiting for his forevers at our Southbury CT adoption center. This happy fellow is about 7 months old and he is 35 pounds of pure love. He loves to play with other doggy friends and he loves to meet new nice humans. Like any young pitty mix, he can be high energy at times but after a good round of zoomies, he enoys a nice couch cuddle and a nap. He would love to be adopted by active people that will take him for walks, hikes, or other fun energy expending ventures. Because of Rocket's exuberance and energy level, we feel like at this time he'll succeed best in a home with no pint sized screechy humans or humans who are unsteady on their feet. To help Rocket succeed in his new home, certified trainer Angelina Mueller has offered to do a free, private training session for Rocket if he is adopted around the Southbury area. Alternatively, we're also offering a $100 training incentive for an adopter who wishes to use a different trainer or is outside of Angelina's area. Upon submission of certified training, we'll refund $100 of his adoption fee. We're happy to provide trainer suggestions. Be sure to watch Rocket's video here and check him out on TikTok as well at https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLeaRb97/ Rocket Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. Story
This hunky chunky brindle fellow is Fred, and we are SO happy to be able to play a part in his rescue journey! Fred was rescued from a shelter in TN by one of our fabulous foster families. They report that he is a model citizen and will be a great fit for any home....young and active OR mature and a little more laid back. He walks very nicely on leash, gets along great with other doggos, doesn't show much interest in kitties (but we always advise caution) and loves all the nice people that he meets. If you're ready to add a brindle boy to your home, hop on over to www.cprdogs.com for our online application. Fred is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested positive for heartworms, but has been fully treated with no complications. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival.
