Story
Meet Trey! The perfectly pocket sized pittie whose only flaw is his inability to keep his tongue in his mouth. Don’t let Trey’s age fool you, this guy has plenty of energy and is ready to run straight into your heart. Trey is an adventurous, curious guy who’s also down to curl up on the couch for a nap. Trey loves every person and every dog he’s ever encountered and would appreciate being a part of a pack, especially of larger dogs he can chase around a yard and cuddle puddle with. He knows no strangers and his love knows no bounds. Trey has been through a lot over the years. In his original intake at FOR he was suffering from gunshot wounds and 2 broken legs. And yet, after that and his family relocating, he is still so trusting and gentle. You may see evidence of his hard past in the way he flinches when he doesn’t see your hand coming, but his healing is evident in how quickly he melts into the pets afterwards. Trey knows basic commands and is fully housetrained. He is around 60 lbs and believed to be around 9 years old. He is fully vaccinated, on monthly flea & tick prevention, and recently underwent treatment for heartworms. He is fostered in Huntsville, AL, and is available for meet & greets there, if adopted from outside the area his foster has agreed to travel up to 200 miles for transport at no charge to the adopter. Trey has not been tested with cats, and will only be placed in a home with adults and older children (no babies or toddlers).

Story
Meet Orca, a 7-year-old, 37 lb. terrier mix has a heart as big as her smile. As the longest resident in a rural shelter, waiting over three months for her chance at a happily furever after, we knew we had to scoop her up and help her find the life she’s always deserved. Orca is pure joy wrapped in fur. She loves to play, is super friendly with everyone she meets, and reminds us daily that age is just a number. She’s incredibly affectionate and happiest when she’s right by your side—whether she’s soaking up belly rubs, leaning in for cuddles, or trying her best to become everyone’s new best friend. She’s currently in a foster home with children and another dog and does great with all. Her adoption fee is $400 and Orca is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed, and recently underwent heartworm treatment. She’ll need one month of limited activity while she finishes recovering, but she handles it all with her signature sweetness and tail wags. Story
This adorable pittie pup is Sadie. She is 10-months-old and weighs 30 lb. We expect she will be 35-40 lb full grown. Sadie was literally found in a dumpster. Luckily someone heard her whimpering and go her outta there! Sadie is a very friendly and playful pup. She is already comfortable walking on a leash, plays fetch and loves everyone! She may have a bit too much happy energy for young children but should be fine with kids 10 and up. Sadie is good with other dogs and ready for all kinds of outdoor adventures! We don't know what she thinks of cats but can cat-test her if needed. Sadie is microchipped, vaccinated, spayed and healthy. Her adoption fee is $400. If you would like to meet/adopt Sadie, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-online-adoption-application/ or stop by our shelter. We are open 10 AM to 4 PM seven days a week. The DAWS shelter address is 147 Grassy Plain St. Bethel. Email daws@daws.org with questions or if you wish to schedule an after-hours appointment. Sadie can't wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Libby Lou, she’s a stunning 2 year old, 39 lb velvety soft staffie mix. She’s an amazing young dog with so much love to give. Libby was adopted as a young puppy, she was very loved until life changed happened and her dad could no longer keep her. Libby has been in foster care, she is a little shy at first however when she decompresses she is the silliest happiest girl. Libby loves to run and chase balls (she doesn’t always bring the ball back)but she always gives you her best smile. Libby has a sense of humor that will keep you laughing. She enjoys snuggling in the couch and will follow you everywhere you. She’s a smart lady, she knows all of her commands and will show them off for a treat. Libby is good with children, we do suggest children over 8, as she can startle easily in a new environment. She is good with dogs her size or bigger, she loves to play and snuggle up to her doggie friends. Libby is crate and leash trained and house broken. She is an amazing dog whose heart was broken when she lost the only family she ever knew, she is looking for her new family to love and be loved. (No cats she does have a small animal prey drive and is too curious with cats) Libby Lou is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. Story
Mitzi was owner-surrendered and needed to be moved where she could thrive. This is where CPR comes into her life! Mitzi is the perfect-sized little girl that we believe is around 2.5 years old. She weighs approximately 48 pounds and is fully grown. She is housetrained and crate-trained. Mitzi needed a lot of TLC and is getting that in her foster home. She is shy at first. Once she gets to know you, she warms up nicely. She has even learned that it is ok to jump up on the couch and snuggle with her foster mommy and other doggies. This girl is very affectionate, and once she knows her person, she will be extremely grateful and lovable. She gets along with most other foster dogs at her foster home, but she is leery of small male dogs. She will play and run with the bigger female dogs, and she adores the puppies. A proper introduction is a must for Mitzi when meeting new furry friends for the first time. She would really be good living in a home where she is the only dog around, as she would love all the attention from her human! Mitzi loves to ride in the car and will take in all the sights with enjoyment. She has mastered walking on a leash and has done so well with it! All she needs to learn is that she will never be mistreated ever again. Some patience and TLC are all this girl needs!! Mitzi has a video of her playing with a puppy, and she loves her!! Visit the link to watch the video! https://youtube.com/shorts/vSmh_zmHv70 Another video of her riding in the car is at https://youtube.com/shorts/5IILulxoPE4 Mitzi is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested positive for heartworms, but has received her treatment and is ready to travel to her forever home.
