Story
Meet Orca, a 7-year-old, 37 lb. terrier mix has a heart as big as her smile. As the longest resident in a rural shelter, waiting over three months for her chance at a happily furever after, we knew we had to scoop her up and help her find the life she’s always deserved. Orca is pure joy wrapped in fur. She loves to play, is super friendly with everyone she meets, and reminds us daily that age is just a number. She’s incredibly affectionate and happiest when she’s right by your side—whether she’s soaking up belly rubs, leaning in for cuddles, or trying her best to become everyone’s new best friend. She’s currently in a foster home with children and another dog and does great with all. Her adoption fee is $400 and Orca is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed, and recently underwent heartworm treatment. She’ll need one month of limited activity while she finishes recovering, but she handles it all with her signature sweetness and tail wags. Story
*Name: Chance  *Age: 10 months old  *Current Weight: 51 pounds  *Rescued from: South Carolina, fostered in CT! *Adoption fee: $550  Meet Chance – The Goofy, Loving Helper Ready for His Forever Home! Chance’s journey began as a stray alongside his sister, Beverly. After a few twists and turns, he’s now thriving in a loving foster home in Connecticut — and wow, has this sweet boy blossomed! With patience, love, and plenty of playtime, Chance is showing everyone what a joyful, loyal, and funny companion he truly is. Blossoming in Foster Care Chance has settled beautifully into home life. He’s learned the rhythm of the household, sleeps soundly in his crate through the night, and proudly lets his people know when he needs to go outside. With every day that passes, his confidence grows — and his personality shines even brighter! He’s affectionate and loves being near his people. Whether that means curling up at your feet while you’re cooking or following you from room to room, he’s always ready to lend a helping paw (and a warm presence). Chance the Helper: Household Assistant Extraordinaire Chance has taken his “housemate duties” very seriously! Laundry time? He’s right there, diving into the dryer to retrieve the dryer balls (and happily trading them for a treat). Doing dishes? Expect him to rest on your feet, keeping them warm as you work. Gardening? He’s your enthusiastic digging partner, ready to help you with that next hole! This boy doesn’t just live in the home — he’s part of the team. Playtime, Zoomies & All Things Fun Chance is a bundle of joy and energy! He loves running around the yard, tossing his tennis ball for himself, and doing his best Tigger impression with big, happy bounces. He’s also a social butterfly with other dogs, loving to wrestle, tumble, and play chase with furry friends who can match his energy and size. (He’s still learning to be gentle with smaller or older dogs — his enthusiasm can be a lot of love all at once!) Walks, Sniffs & Silly Moments Chance is doing great on leash walks and loves exploring the neighborhood. He’ll trot happily beside you, tail wagging, stopping to sniff every new scent or chase a falling leaf. Sometimes he’ll even pounce at a branch or patch of grass — just because it looks fun! He’s curious, playful, and always up for a new adventure. A Goofy, Loving Soul Chance’s foster family says he’s as goofy as he is affectionate. He loves rolling upside down with all four paws in the air, making silly noises as he plays. He entertains himself with squeaky toys, bones, and anything that makes sound — and he’s an avid chewer in the best way. He’s also incredibly people-focused. Chance wants to be close, to connect, and to be part of the action. When he meets new people, he can be a bit shy at first in his home, but out on walks he’s friendly and curious — just a young pup still learning that strangers are friends he hasn’t met yet. Smart, Food-Motivated & Eager to Learn This clever boy is very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He already knows how to “sit” and is learning not to jump when he gets excited. With continued consistency and positive reinforcement, Chance will thrive — he truly wants to please his people. The Perfect Family for Chance Chance is ready for his next chapter: a forever home full of love, patience, and playtime. He’d do best with active adopters who will include him in daily adventures, keep up his training, and appreciate his silly, big-hearted nature. Another playful dog companion would be a bonus! In return, Chance will fill your home with laughter, cuddles, goofy antics, and unwavering love. Don’t wait — apply to adopt Chance today and let this sweet boy’s happily-ever-after begin with you! Story
*Name: King *Age: 8 years *Current Weight: 56lbs *Rescued from: New York City, fostered in CT *Adoption fee: $300 Sweet King recently found himself out of time at an overcrowded shelter in the city with his hope just about to run out. After spending 8 years living with a family, one day they decided they could no longer care for him, due to no fault of his own, and surrendered him to the Animal Care Centers of NYC. Heartbroken and confused, King's world was turned upside down.  While in the care of the ACC, because he was so friendly, King was a "greeter" dog, helping to test the constant influx of new dogs coming in to see if he's friendly. As his time counted down day by day, he won over all the staff and volunteers who described him as their favorite, a real peace, who is sweet, wiggly, friendly and happy.  Unfortunately he had been surrended with a skin condition that needed treatment. But between his age and his need of medical care, he landed himself on the euthanasia list. This poor boy didn't deserve what was about to happen, so SNARR decided to take him in and give him the second chance he deserved.  Now safe in a loving foster home, King is able to recouperate and get the proper medical care and attention that he needed.  In just a matter of weeks, King has started his healing process. He bonds with people easily and is always happy to be in their company. He's a fantastic companion dog, so loving and just the most amazing cuddler. He finds comfort laying next to or on you, a typical pittie, he doesn't believe in personal space and prefers to be touching.  King enjoys going for walks (he walks wonderfully on the leash) and is eager to make new friends when exploring the neighborhood. King gets along amazingly with everyone he meets -- dogs, cats, adults and young kids. He's gentle and sweet with a big block head, and an even bigger heart. He listens well and is eager to please.  King is truly a good boy who deserves to know the comfort of a home to call his own. Are you the forever family King has been patiently waiting for?  To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs  ##2568331##
