Hi there, I’m Nova!
If you’re reading this, you might be my future family — and I’ve got my paws crossed that you are!
I’ll be honest: my story didn’t start out great. I was found wandering the road near this shelter, probably left behind. A kind human stopped to help and brought me here. I wasn’t alone, though — I had a doggy friend with me, but she was too scared to be caught that day. The shelter folks didn’t give up on her, though, and a whole month later, they finally brought her in, too. They named her Star! We’re both safe now, and while we care about each other, I’m... kind of a lot for her. (She says I have too much “enthusiasm” or something?) So we don’t have to be adopted together.
Let’s talk about me though — because I’ve got lots to share!
I’m a goofy, playful, ball-of-energy cuddle bug. I’m also what the humans call a “Velcro dog.” That means if you move, I move. If you sit, I sit. If you’re making a snack, I’m very interested. I love food, toys, and belly rubs in no particular order (okay, maybe food first). I ride well in the car and behave like a champ at the vet, too!
I won’t sugarcoat it: I’m shy and nervous at first. New places and sounds make me worry. I’m still building confidence, and I’ll need time, patience, and more than one visit to feel safe around you. I’m also still learning leash manners and basic commands — sometimes I get a little mouthy or stubborn — but I’m super smart and food helps me focus! A routine and some training will do wonders for me.
I love other dogs and feel much more secure when I have a confident doggy buddy to show me the ropes. I absolutely need a home with another dog — it helps me come out of my shell. Cats? I might be okay with them, but we’d have to meet first. As for kids, I’d do best with older ones who understand that I need gentle handling and space when I’m unsure.
What I want more than anything is a home full of love, patience, playtime, and snuggles. I want someone who won’t give up on me, even when I’m a little nervous or slow to trust. I’ve got so much love to give — you just have to give me the chance to show it.
