Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.  Dog: SwoopAge:  Approximately 4 yrsWeight: 45 lbsLocation: Philadelphia, PANicknames: Swoopy, Swoopers, Poop, Soup, Soupy, Gustus GoopGood with other dogs?:  YesGood with cats? YesGood with children? Unknown so would be best if Swoop was placed in a home without small children.Activity Preference: Would like a walk and some playtimeIQ: Pretty smartFavorite things: playing with his squeaky toys either alone or with his foster family, belly rubs, napping next to his foster momGood at: meeting people, meeting other dogs, driving in the car, walking on a leash, going outside for potty, being a very good boyIdeal home: fenced yard, has time for playtime and walking,  isn't gone for a full work day (or have someone come in mid-day for a walk and some playtime) Health issues: None MEET SWOOP Sunshine, rainbows and unicorns!  That is Swoop!  This little guy is so happy.  He enjoys everything to the fullest!  When he looks at you with those big, sparkling, black eyes you cannot help but be happy! Swoop is one of the the very nicest, most well-behaved pups you will ever meet! He is just the happiest little guy.   He has such a good time playing!  He will play for hours and then goes down for a nap.  His favorite spot to nap is right next to his foster mom.   He 'talks' to you  and sounds like the Hamburglar!  The snorts and grumbles are just just so precious!   The tail on this happy boy never stops wagging!   Swoop most likely never lived in a home or had limited access to the inside.  It seemed like he didn't know what simple household things were like the tv, washing machine, etc.  We are working with how excited he gets when someone comes in and sits down on the couch.  When you sit he rolls on you like a big, strong cat, giving kisses.  Then he will fall over on his back and his little legs go.  He is doing this less and less.  But until he stops completely, he cannot go to a home with young kids. Swoop is perfect with cats.  He is being fostered with Skynard and doesn't really interact with him.  Swoop just kinda ignores him. Swoop was great with other dogs at the shelter and a previous foster home. Swoop is in Philadelphia, PA. PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Story
Highlights about Toby!! * Handsome!! * Rockstar with training (he loves treats) * Master Cuddler * Good with bigger dogs with his play style (a meet with your dog will be required) * Playful and loyal * Fun and energetic * Handsome (it had to be said twice!) This sweet 2.5 year old boy is one of the best dogs you will ever meet! After a rocky start in life that would have soured most dogs on people in general, especially on men, Toby is more determined than ever to find his perfect person or family. Toby will need continued reinforcement of the training and socializing that he's received while in rescue … all of which are based on positive reinforcement techniques. Toby's a very quick learner who is highly motivated to win praise from people. Toby readily responds to basic commands including sit, down, off, leave it, easy, wait, go to place, and quiet. Unlike typical guys, Toby will listen to what you have to say like his commands, but also gossip. He won't tattle on you either. Toby is great in the car and would be the ultimate road-trip companion. He jumps into the back seat on his own, then settles after his harness is attached to a dog safety belt. Toby loves spending time outside so he would make a great exercise partner whether that's long walks or even hiking. He's crate-trained and goes in readily on the command, "go to bed," followed by tossing him a small treat. Although he'll occasionally whine in the crate if he hears activity and feels he's missing out on fun (yep he's got FOMO but who doesn't), it’s easily resolved with a firm "quiet, Toby." He actually enjoys taking naps in his covered crate and he will often go stand by his crate when he's tired as that's where he feels safest. If you have someone visiting who has a dog or kids, you can put him in the crate for a little bit. Like most youngsters, his behavior is best when he gets adequate naps and downtime. But he also loves to snuggle so he'll make a great foot warmer for you! Toby is fully house trained. Toby loves stuffed Kongs, chewing on bones and antlers, and playing with squeaky toys. He also adores pleasing his human(s)! He totally melts against you when he receives praise for his good listening skills and appropriate behavior, and turns into a total wiggle-butt when you sweet talk him! Toby's ideal home would be on the quieter side with no young children and no other pets. Toby's perfect adopter(s) are out there, and he can’t wait to meet them! He's got so much love to give, and time's a wastin'! Toby's one goal in life is to find a forever home where he can give all his undying love, lots of joy and loyal companionship to some lucky person or family! Story
#2923Sammy is a 2 year old mix who was born into Brookline's care when his mom, Nora, a Labrador mix was in foster care. Nora was in a kill shelter in MS housed with an unaltered Husky mix. Both were saved by different rescues, and it was later discovered in foster care that Nora was pregnant. Sammy, along with his six litter mates were adopted out at 8 weeks old. Sammy was adopted by first time dog owners and at 11 months was returned to the rescue due to training issues. Sammy has learned his good dog manners while in foster care and at a board and train program at K9 Basics in Marlton, NJ where he continues to take obedience and socialization classes.Sammy is now ready to find his furever home! Sammy would do best in a home with a confident, experienced owner with no young children who can take charge and is home more often than not, and is willing to continue his training. A large property that is optimal so Sammy can play, roam and explore at his leisure.Sammy is a higher energy dog who can play hard outside but then settles well in the house. Sammy loves to swim, play fetch, chase and tug with both people and other similar energy dogs. Sammy also loves roaming, and sniffing in the yard outside, and keeps the yard clear of geese, deer and squirrels.Sammy currently goes for two 2 mile walks and has active playtime in the yard chasing balls and playing tug with people and/or another dog. He would enjoy having a job that let him use his nose, and/or tracking skills or chasing off pesky geese in your pond or deer in your garden.Sammy can sometimes be a challenge because he is very smart, and sometimes stubborn, and he absolutely knows when you are trying to trick him and doesn't fall for it, except maybe when it comes to ice, olives or American cheese! He is definitely food motivated which makes training easier. Sammy is a great dog that deserves to find just the right forever home so he can live a long, happy and carefree life full of exploration of the outdoors and loving his people.Sammy is loving, funny, loyal and playful but he can also be independent, persistent, and protective. He needs someone that will prove to him, through time and absolute consistency, and continued training, that you are the pack leader. He will reward your time with respect and love.To learn more about Sammy's transformation in foster care go to:https://brooklinelabrescue.org/blog/sammy-6-chocolate-labrador-retriever-mix-male-2-years-old-id2923/ If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Web site, www.brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process. Story
ROXY's owner lost his job so she was surrendered to the shelter. She is an extremely strong, friendly dog, in spite of being 9 years old. ROXY has lacked structure in her life and will need some work, but she is very affectionate and loves attention. ROXY has had bad skin and we have treated it with antibiotics and adjusting her diet. ROXY was adopted for a period and did great with young kids, but was returned due to there being a lot of dogs in the area. The were concerned that she would get loose while on walks. ROXY is currently in foster and is doing great. She is very easy in the home and they have no worries with people coming into the house. ROXY has been with us for over a year, so we are hoping to get her into a home soon. We are confident that ROXY will make a great companion. Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Story
Pinky was transferred to EASEL after Hurricane Ida from a shelter in Baton Rouge, LA. She is a friendly, medium size Staffordshire terrier mix who unfortunately has been dealt a difficult hand. She came to the shelter in Louisiana injured, but never let her past break her spirit. She arrived at EASEL happy, friendly, and welcoming to all she met. She has undergone entropion surgery to repair her eyelid, and has an old injury to one of her front legs that makes her walk a little odd sometimes. Pinky can be overstimulated easily and does best with slow and less abrasive introductions with humans. Pinky loves to give kisses and really enjoys snuggling in her dog bed in the kennel. In an overnight sleepover she was very settled and loved being able to relax in a less stressful environment. Her foster reports that Pinky loves: Riding in the car, Belly rubs, Toys - hard rubber squeaky toys, Playing fetch - over and over again, Kong with frozen peanut butter, and Snuggling on the couch. She likes showing off her mastery of obedience skills.Pinky has her missteps but she responds to being told “no.” She responds to correction almost immediately. To apply to adopt pinky and give her the home she deserves apply online at www.easelnj.org/application/ Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Story
Have you ever wanted a cuddly panda of your own? May we direct your attention to our very own Panda? Panda is a sweet and affectionate 2.5 year old girl. She was originally found abandoned and locked in a dog crate, but fortunately, she is now safe with us at EASEL. Panda is one smart cookie. Because she happens to be deaf, she is learning hand commands, which is a bit more time consuming, but she already knows some of the basics like ‘sit’ and ‘come.’ Panda does well on walks and, in the home, is a medium-energy dog. Panda has now been at our shelter for over a year and has been waiting patiently for her perfect forever home to come along. Panda would be happiest in a quieter home that will give her a consistent routine. She might also do well with a dog friend who could help build her confidence. Could this big panda bear be the right fit for you? Apply to meet Panda today! Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.
