Story
Meet Maurice Richard (Mo), our loyal and energetic 2-year-old shepard mix looking for a new forever home. Mo is neutered, microchipped, and was adopted from the Oregon Humane Society at just 9 weeks old. He’s full of personality and loves running at the dog park, playing fetch like a major-leaguer, and going on long walks. Mo is incredibly devoted to his people and would thrive in a calm, consistent environment. He struggles with visitors in the home and will need ongoing training and support to help him feel safe and secure. He would do very well in a farm-like setting, where he would be free to run and may even put his cattle dog instincts to work. Due to our current lifestyle and the level of training Mo needs, we’ve come to the difficult decision that our home is not the right long-term fit for him. We’re looking for someone experienced, patient, and committed to helping Mo continue to grow into the amazing dog we know he is.

Story
We are the fluffy puppies extraordinaire!! And we love everyone! We are a mixture of Great pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd???? That is an educated guess by the rescue chick, based on our double dew claws, our fluffiness, coloring and size :) We are LOTS OF FUN TOO! We all came from the pound in SA, as bottle babies at about 2 weeks old. And we all have grown lots :) but only because the bottle baby fosters took us in, gave up sleep and so much time and love and energy to make sure we would survive! And we so appreciate all our special bottle baby mamas (and daddies :) So we have so many things to tell you about us, and the first and most important thing is that we are AVAILABLE!! All this cuteness and fur, AVAILABLE!! Brothers Rucker and Riley are the more quiet and contemplative of the group. Riley is more shy but once he knows you own the food, he is YOURS :) Rucker is STILL a bottle baby! he doesn't want to give up the bottle yet and his foster mom loves to bottle feed TODDLER PUPS :) So he gets extra calories. Babies usually stay with their mamas until they are at least 8 weeks old so Rucker is not unusual :) Moxie and Millicent are the two larger pups and the most active and vocal and outgoing! They LOVE LOVE to play! One of us is ready for you and your family to ADOPT!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Let me introduce you to a warm, gentle soul we call Barley. He has eyes that quietly say “tell me all about it, I’m here to listen.” And his presence is just as comforting. He can come off a touch shy when you first meet him, some of that is because he isn’t clamoring for your attention, but the truth is he is taking slow and observing. I felt like I immediately understood his energy and met him there, sitting on the ground with him and while I sweet talked him he slowly melted into leaning on me in a way that felt like a gentle hug. He is a quiet presence like a long-time best friend and has all the traits of an adoring, loyal dog. Lucky for you he is available for adoption and ready to come home. Take a look then come back to read more- It’s no surprise, my favorite thing about Barley is how easy his company is. Slow and steady in every area, whether it is with people, on-leash for a walk, with dogs, or meeting our house cat. His demeanor and look lead us to believe he is an Anotolian shepherd mix, approximately 1.5 years old and he currently weighs 51 lbs, Breed and age are details we cannot offer 100% certainty on given the nature of him being a rescue . He may grow a smidge more but we believe he is essentially his full grown size- perfectly midsize in our opinion. Initially, we thought Barley may not be interested in other dogs because of his shy approach but we were quickly shown otherwise. As we introduced him to female on-leash, it was easy to see that he felt very comfortable with her. His tail was wagging and his body was soft and welcoming. With each additional dog he continued to show us a polite approach and an easy-going nature, no matter the size or gender of the dogs. He did really gravitate towards a larger male in a very loving way, almost like the protector energy of this dog was familiar. Although we have not seen a bouncy, playful side, we anticipate as he settles in and builds connections with dogs, we will see that side of him emerge. In addition to being dog friendly, Barley was respectful with our resident house cat. His approach was cautious and almost avoidant but before long the cat was laying nearby and he moved on in a way that showed he was not fixated or concerned with the cat. From what we saw Barley would make a peaceful addition to a home with feline friends. Barley would easily live in a home with a yard to stretch those legs, feel the sun and enjoy the breeze but he has potential for apartment life. With a quiet presence and a wonderful mid-size frame, with growing leash skills, apartments are a possibility but because of his current shyness he may need some sweet talk and treats to build confidence in busy areas. But given his age and approach to new experiences we have confidence that with time and understanding, Barley will transition smoothly into a variety of homes. A house with a yard is always wonderful but above all Barley is looking for a loving home, regular walks, a easy-going doggie companion or two, maybe even a feline friend… he is ready to quietly take on discovering the world with you by his side. If you can guard that gentle, sweet heart, he promises to help calm you from whatever the day could throw at you, fill you up with love, sweetness and loyalty in return. Looks, charm, and a golden-good heart, that’s Barley and he is ready and available to be your dream boy! Questions? Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
