Story
Maya is a sweet dog that is more of a farm dog than a livestock guardian dog (which is why we got her). She's not hurt any livestock or people, but she likes to chase goats which doesn't really work for us. She really loves people and seems comfortable with seeing people come and go. She will bark/alert, but hasn't shown aggression towards people. She seems to like everyone from what we've seen. She stays in the fencing well and other than her her chasing the goats (which they don't care for), she's been great. Not sure if she's ever been house-trained, but when kept in a smaller pen she doesn't seem to go to the bathroom where she stays. She's been outdoor only for us though. She's 3 years old. She was with cats, horses, and another dog at her previous home, but I'd be cautious with introductions with cats and dogs as she might not get along with all. Apparently she likes to be the alpha when with another dog. Hoping to find her a nice new farm or home.

Story
Gracie currently lives with another dog. He is a golden doodle, and he weighs about 60 lbs. Gracie is the dominant one, but they get along well. She loves kids and has been around my grandchildren for the last 5 years without any issues. She has become dog aggressive towards dogs outside of her family unit. I feel this is because of her protective nature. She needs to be in an only dog home, unless you can take the time to introduce her. She's perfectly okay with our other dog. Ill be glad to discuss this further.

Story
For 10 years Tesa's world was as big as the chain that held her. She wasn't someone's hiking buddy. She never curled up on the couch after a long day. She didn't know bedtime treats, birthday toys, or what it felt like to belong to a family. Instead, she spent her life chained up bringing litter after litter into the world while years quietly slipped by. Now she is finally free. The hardest part to witness is how incredibly head shy she is. Even the gentlest hand reaching towards her makes her duck away. No one knows exactly what happened to make her so afraid, but her body remembers even if she can't tell us the story. And yet...she is still SO SWEET. She still wants to believe people can be good. She still softly leans in for affection once she realizes she is safe. She still chooses kindness after a lifetime that gave her very little of it. Tesa is 10 years old. She can't get those years back. We can't rewrite the life she should have had. But together we can make sure the rest of her story is different. We can make sure she never sees another chain. We can make sure she never has another littler. We can make sure the rest of her life is filled with soft beds, gentle hands, full bellies, and people who love her simply because she's Tesa. She has spent a decade surviving. It's time she finally gets to live. Tesa will need to be the only other dog in the home. She did not enjoy meeting other dogs.

**Grand Opening is Saturday August 22, 2026 and Sunday August 23, 2026 from 11am-3pm, if you would like an appointment prior, please e-mail us at shelter@hbpets.org*** Hello my name is Klein, I am between 2-3yrs old, neutered male, Anatolian Shepherd Mix, 59 pounds. I was a stray and arrived with Calvin, so the team doesn't have any information from before. What they have learned is I am so sweet, eager to learn, easily trainable (I have learned sit, stay, leave-it and kennel), I love to go for walks, I am learning to walk on a leash. I like other dogs, but I have I have only had playdates with Calvin, as we came in together. The team quickly fell in love with me too, I look like a puppy, but I am not, I love to get cuddles, be with humans, get brushed, I am just a really cool dog. My adoption fee is $200

Story
Bubbie is the kind of dog that bonds deeply with his person. Not in a chaotic or demanding way—he just genuinely wants to be near the people he loves and be part of their life. Bubbie is a young white shepherd mix with the tall frame of a German Shepherd but a much leaner, lighter build. He’s athletic, affectionate, and very emotionally connected to his humans. He was previously adopted and returned because he became very attached to his adopter. For the right person, though, that’s not a flaw—it’s exactly what makes him special. He’s the kind of dog who forms real relationships. Bubbie is also great with other dogs and with cats, making him an easy fit for many multi-pet households. He enjoys companionship and settles in well around other animals. What stands out most about him is his heart. He’s sensitive, loyal, and happiest when he feels connected to his people. Good fit: someone wanting a deeply loyal companion and who appreciates a dog that forms strong emotional bonds. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit?
