Story
Meet Bonnie (affectionately called Bon Bon), a 6-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix with movie star looks and a heart full of joy. With her striking eyes that look like she’s always wearing eyeliner, Bonnie is as stunning as she is sweet. She’s currently being fostered in New Braunfels, TX, and is growing into a playful, affectionate companion. Bonnie is dog-friendly and loves romping around with her foster brothers. Whether it’s chasing a ball during a game of fetch, gnawing on a chew bone, or simply running around the yard, she’s always up for fun. With medium to high energy, she thrives in a home where she has space to stretch her legs and a family who can keep up with her playful spirit. She’s already mastered “Sit” and walks well on a leash, showing off just how smart she is. Bonnie is working on her housetraining and making great progress every day. Her kennel is her safe haven—she naps there and sleeps through the night like a champ. Bonnie loves attention and bonds quickly with her people. She’s happiest when she’s being showered with affection or, hilariously, helping with the laundry! One of her cutest habits is putting her paws on the hamper and pulling clothes out—she insists on being part of the folding process. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving pup with a gorgeous face and a personality to match, Bonnie is your girl. She’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and love to her forever home. Her adoption fee is $300 in-state and $550 out-of-state, which includes transportation. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Bonnie click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-651 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When you are eating at a restaurant do you like when strangers stop to take food off your plate?  How about when family members do it?  Still no?  Well, then you will likely understand Zira. Zira is an 11 month old Pyr/Anatolian mix pulled with her sister in a TX shelter when she was about 5 months old. Zira was adopted by a couple who then returned her as they didn’t know how to help her when she was communicating.  Zira is a super sweet and silly girl who will give you hours of entertainment. Her whole body wiggles and wags when she sees people and anticipates getting loves, boop kisses, then she will flop over on her side for belly rubs. When she doesn’t have a care in the world, she’s out doing zoomies, chasing around her toys that she can throw herself, or playing with her foster siblings.  She is very smart, learns quickly and is very food motivated which helps with training.  She is an adventurer, loves to play with other dogs, loves to DIG (and is very good at it so you must love her more than your yard) and quietly sleeps through the night.  She is fine with cats.  She is crate trained, walks well on a leash and is fully potty trainied.  Zira is a great communicator and growls when she is uncomfortable, that in turn may make some people uncomfortable. She may not like every dog she encounters immediately and others she will.  She would benefit from a calm and confident human who can help her feel safe under such conditions.  Her current foster has two other fosters, Zira loved the female immediately and growled at the male for 4 days.  With a lot of reassurance (and treats), Zira started to look at her foster brother with curiosity and playfulness.  Now they can play nicely together in the yard!  Zira is at the age where she’s really considering her guarding trait, what she was genetically meant to do.  She needs to decide who is friend or foe and not everyone will be a friend…at least right away and maybe she may find a dog she doesn’t like at all.  Just like us people, we don’t always like everyone we meet.  Her first line of defense it to make it known she’s uncomfortable (growling maybe showing teeth) and then evaluating from afar.  She has likely OUTGROWN dog parks with her maturing as it takes her time to evaluate a “threat” (4 days for her foster brother).  She would love to have a friendly and loving sibling who she can count on through thick and thin.  Even so, she will likely never want to share her meals or her bones but may be able to be encouraged to share her toys.  With learning her guardian role, Zira does a great job barking at threats or when her foster siblings are barking.  She has a beautiful full and rich alto bark that should deter any stranger.  She is not a trained working dog but loves to be outside.  She is unaware of her size so large and sturdy children are best as she doesn’t have a “pyr paw” she has a “pyr PUNCH!”  Zira is being fostered in Tacoma, WA and can be transported within OR-WA.  OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION: 1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES THAT HAVE AT LEAST ONE MEDIUM TO LARGE YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor. 2) These puppies can be livestock dogs to farms and homesteads experienced in training LGDs. They also must be family pets that are allowed inside the home. 3) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone must also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8+ hours a day. 4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees knowledge/experience. 5) Secure and visible fencing required. 6) You must have a plan in place to socialize your puppy properly. Adoption Fee: $275 All of our puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6. Transport Fee: Transport fee has been sponsored by Zira's foster family. All of our puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 10, 2025, 3:54 pm

Story
Moyo, yes, a big boy! With an even bigger heart. Seriously. He’s also big on his treats and a game of fetch. He’ll rest his soft heavy head on your lap while relaxing, a reminder of his appreciation for you. When he’s playing with his smaller pup friends, it’s almost as if they don’t recognize his size, because of how gracious he moves with them. Moyo is both playful & wise; joyful & intelligent. Walking with his stoic stature while observing the world together is mindfulness in practice. While he’s got your attention, he’d like you to know that he grew up with kids and in an apartment. He wants to remind you that most, if not all, big breeds come with the drool, and he promises it’s worth it. So, if you’re looking for a big boy and these reflections of Moyo resonate with you, come find out how delightful he is.

Story
Sid and his cat friend lost their home when his owner suffered a hardship. They were cared for by a neighbor with an elderly cat and it`s said Sid always looked out for his furry feline friends. Here in the shelter he`s a calm, mellow fellow who carries a light presence for his large stature. He`s been paired with a smaller, lively lady who bounces off him & leverages on him and he seems quite ok with the arrangement. He does well in many doggie play groups. Sid seems to know his size can be daunting so he`s anything BUT daunting. Do you like your dogs large with a peaceful presence? Hurry in and check out Sid. He`s also heart worm negative.
