ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13367Greetings! My name is Serena, just like the tennis champ. Foster mom says I am a champion too – she says she is pretty sure I would take a blue ribbon in the category “Best Pups Available For Adoption on the East Coast of the United States of America.” A ribbon is fine; I just hope it comes with a frozen marrow bone. A pup can dream, and I dream BIG. Would you like to be a part of my dream? Come on in!Foster mom has learned that Serena is:-Super smart – in just the past week she (a) is quickly becoming housetrained and will potty almost immediately on command on regular outings; (b) will sit and is getting better at wait; and (c) is learning not to jump up on people and not to counter surf. -Super sweet and affectionate, and loves to make new friends with humans and other pups. -Great on walks; she loves being outdoors and running free (although she checks back in regularly to make sure foster mom is still there).-Gentle as a lamb, and just as playful. She has coaxed foster mom’s grumpy 10-year old GSD into playing with her which is a gold medal first!-Brave – she generally embraces new experiences and new places with only an appropriate amount of caution.-Loves riding in the car – she settles down and starts to snooze within the first few minutes. Serena just recently transitioned to a new foster home, leaving behind both the only home she had known since birth and one of her siblings. She has struggled with operating solo, including crying when left alone. Foster mom is working to help her develop her independence. She has come a long way in less than a week – see the note on bravery, above – but her new family must be prepared to be patient with her. She has seen a lot of change in a short period of time! Serena is guessed to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix, born on December 20, 2023. Based on her mother’s size, she likely will top out in the 50-55 pound range when fully grown. She has not been tested with cats, but has not displayed a high prey drive while walking in the forest. See her in action here:First yard outingOn the leash

Story
Meet Sunshine Louise! This beautiful Anatolian Shepard/Great Pyrenees mix is super sweet and wants to be your best friend. She currently weights about 90 lbs. She is house trained (she will ring bells on the back door to go outside). She is very well behaved and does not require a crate indoors. Sunshine is a very, very laid back girl….until she feels the need to guard her home. We are unsure of her age, but the guess is around 6 years old. She is smart and very treat motivated. She loves to go on walks especially first thing in the morning and after the sun goes down. She LOVES people and kids! She is good with other dogs as long as they respect her boundaries. She easily integrates into a pack, but remains kind of a loner. She is spayed, (after having 10 puppies), microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. She has also completed Heart Worm treatment. Sunshine loves belly rubs and pets. She will look lovingly and longingly into your eyes like she knows that her life has been saved and she is so very grateful. She is a very calm girl who prefers to lay on the cool floor. She is a “guardian” breed and will quietly take up a position (usually in a doorway) and just relax. She knows basic commands but does have a stubborn streak. Usually a treat will encourage her to follow your directions. Sunshine does have a high prey drive, so no cats or tiny toy breeds please. She also has a history of fence jumping to pursue wildlife, so a privacy fence would be ideal. If you would like to meet this precious girl and make her part of your family, please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/ Sunshine is located in North Alabama with transport available to your area. Friends of Rescue requires a virtual home visit and vet reference prior to all adoptions. All Friends of Rescue animals are indoor family members.

Story
Bear is a little over 4 years old, he is part Anatolian Shepherd/mix . He was acquired basically he showed up at our doorstep, took a while to find the previous owners, but they didn't want him back (he was their last puppy they were trying to sell). He's very sweet, smart and really good with all animals (livestock included) & also good with all ages of children. What he too good with are fences, he can jump any fence that is 4 ft or less. He thinks he is small but he's very big and strong. We have tried to keep him, but I have chronic joint issues, while we have some land that he can run on, he can run up to a mile away. He comes back (or the neighbors call) but he would be so much happier being able to be outside more and running free. So far none of our neighbors have complained but when he gets loose (he can open sliding doors) we don't always know how long he'll be gone, and we can't wait around. I would say either lots of acres is needed or a 5 ft. tall fence.
