Story
All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com/adoption-application  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue. 6/24/22 Ducky is a very sweet boy.  He likes dogs, cats, chickens, kids, and yes, even ducks.  He is brand new to rescue but we do know that he is a sweet dog.  He is initially timid around men.   2/21/24  Ducky is still in the rescue.  He is a smart dog and very sweet. Just because a dog looks like a German Shepherd mix doesn't mean it is.  We found out that Ducky is actually mostly heeler.  That's OK he needed a place to land, and we had room. Story
Hi my name is Whopper! I am a cute cattle dog mix that was hanging around a little ice cream/sandwich shop not too long ago. Well it was nice getting handouts from customers, but it was not a good life! Finally someone took the time to bring me and my friend to the shelter where we got a big clean dog run, a big bowl of nutritious food, and a nice comfy bed! I am now ready for adoption. I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been neutered. I want to give a big shout out to the Good Samaritan who took the time to bring me to the shelter.

Story
Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Bella is a two-year old female Red Heeler, came to us when the family moved to a new home and she couldn't go.  She is 43 lbs.  We were told she is good with dogs, cats & children and here in the Shelter that is definitely the case.  And, she came in with a much younger female dog and no issues there.  BUT, when she went to a home (adopted), she proved very different and the interactions with the other dog in the home was not good and also not good with a cat.   So, first we are going to just say no to cats.  Second, she is just going to have to meet any potential dog buddy or be the only dog. Even though she kennels with females here fine, it was a female dog she did not do well with.  Perhaps a larger male and her would work - bit challenging to say for sure.  She seemed to very quickly become bonded to a person in the house and perhaps that is the issue - she maybe then doesn't want to share that person when she is in a HOME.  Here in the Shelter there have just been zero issues ever.  Given all of this, let's say an experienced Heeler owner may be best as they are wonderful dogs but strong-willed indeed.  Bella is supposed to be housetrained and crate trained and loves to play fetch.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant.   To learn more about us, visit our Website at: http://www.elmorehumane.org;  Phone: (334) 567-3377 Fax: (334) 567-8774 E-mail: hselco@bellsouth.net February 25, 2024, 7:07 pm
