Story
All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com/adoption-application  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue. 6/24/22 Ducky is a very sweet boy.  He likes dogs, cats, chickens, kids, and yes, even ducks.  He is brand new to rescue but we do know that he is a sweet dog.  He is initially timid around men.   2/21/24  Ducky is still in the rescue.  He is a smart dog and very sweet. Just because a dog looks like a German Shepherd mix doesn't mean it is.  We found out that Ducky is actually mostly heeler.  That's OK he needed a place to land, and we had room. Story
Sandy is looking for a hero. She is a 2-and-1/2-year-old female Blue Heeler mix.  She was a stray drop off in November; and no owner reclaimed her.  Sandy is a gorgeous dog who weighs approximately 40 pounds.  Although highly adoptable, she has tested heart worm positive.  Sandy has been in foster since December but her foster can no longer keep her.  We need someone to step up and foster her for the rest of her heart worm treatments. She is currently on 'slow kill' treatment; and needs to be out of the shelter.  Sandy is crate trained and leash trained.   She is high energy, loves other dogs (although we always recommend a meet and greet), and enjoys playing in water.  Sandy needs a foster or an adopter to take her home and help her continue on her journey to complete heart worm treatment.  If you are interested in fostering Sandy, please either come out and meet her Monday-Saturday from 11-4; or call the staff during those same hours for more info--334-358-2882. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $100.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $50.  July 26, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Gizmo and babbit are almost 5 months old. They have 2 other brothers that I also took in, a breeder dumped the entire litter as well as the mother on my property. We’ve had them for past two months, he is very gentle. Sweet and smart. He loves to play with his brothers and outside. I listed them as “special needs” due to their breed, they are high energy and naturally herd and nip. With that however, they are the most durable dogs who want to hike and ride in the car with you 25/7.

These pups are in Wetumpka, Alabama too!

Story
We are looking to rehome this sweet Australian Shepherd. She is a purebred 6year old female that loves to be inside to either snuggle with you, follow you around , or chew on her Nylabone. I think she would be ideal for empty nesters or a companion for retirees. We got her about 5 weeks ago, but she does not get along with our other male . We knew she was possessive of her food and other toys beforehand, but we feel like she needs to be an only dog. The previous owner had her since she was a puppy, but she does not do well with small children. We can provide any veterinary care information upon request.
