Emily was rescued by one of our kind Humane Deputies. A concerned citizen had called about some dogs in the neighborhood. They looked under nourished and in bad physical shape. After checking on the dogs, the deputy made the decision to take them to the safety of the shelter. Emily is a two-year-old cattle dog mix. She has all of her vaccinations, she is heartworm negative, she has a microchip, and she has been spayed. Emily still has a way to go to get back to a healthy weight. Emily is a sweet girl that would love to be in a family where she could play in the yard, spend time with the family inside, and go for long walks in the evening after a nice dinner! Wow! That would be a dream come true for Emily!

Meet Heeler 🐾💙 This fun boy is definitely a Heeler, with some hound mixed in somewhere. He might have some lab in him because he loves water!!! According to his foster mom, he is highly intelligent and is very interactive with people. Heeler is good with cats, dogs, and chickens. Heeler came into foster when he was left at a vet's office as a puppy. He is up to date on shots and is neutered. We think he was born in May of 2025, so he's headed out of the puppy stage, but he's still a goofball who loves to be outside. Please note that he is a working breed, and though he loves to chill inside, he will do best with a lot of interaction with his people 😄 ❤️ If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Meet Emma! This sweet well adjusteud girl is ready to meet her forever family. Emma gets along well with other dogs and tolerates cats. She’s shy around new people, especially men, but if left alone, warms up quickly. Once past the introduction phase, she actually loves attention and will snuggle with you on the couch, even trying to sit on your lap! Because she’s an attention diva, she’ll do well as an only dog but doesnt have to be an only dog. So far, her only drawback is she doesn’t do well around young children. Their sudden movements make her nervous. Older kids, 10 and up should be OK. Emma is house and crate trained. She does well left on her own in the house, even for several hours or overnight. She walks well on leash, no pulling or lagging. Her energy level is medium to low. She enjoys laying on the deck watching for squirrels or bunnies. She’s a talker, and barks when excited or if she hears something, making her a good watch dog. Emma is spayed, up to date on vaccines.

Meet Clark! Clark is an adorable and sweet Blue Heeler that is approximately 5 years old. He has typical dense heeler fur that he loves to have you scratch. He loves attention and can be ok with other dogs but would prefer to be an only dog. He has been exposed to cats and will leave them alone. He is not recommended for homes with small children because he can be protective of his food, treats, and people. He is overall just a sweet, cuddly, friendly, and fun little guy once he warms up to his person / people. It will take time for him to adjust in his new home so his new people need to be patient and loving.
