Story
Howdy do! My name is Opal and I am a eighteen-month-old cattle dog mix. I was adopted from here not too long ago. I am not sure exactly what went wrong with my owner, but after a short time he took me to a different shelter and turned me in and said he wasn't pay a pet deposit for me when he moved. Fortunately the other shelter checked my microchip and discovered that I was from the Montgomery shelter and they knew the shelter would want me back where I started! What a relief! I am super happy to be safe again! In case you might be interested in adding me to your family you should know that I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been spayed. IF you do adopt me, please remember I am a working dog and I will need things to do to keep me busy! Keep me active by making sure I get lots of exercise and keep my mind active by teaching me commands and tricks that will be fun for both of us!

Story
All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com/adoption-application  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue. 6/24/22 Ducky is a very sweet boy.  He likes dogs, cats, chickens, kids, and yes, even ducks.  He is brand new to rescue but we do know that he is a sweet dog.  He is initially timid around men.   2/21/24  Ducky is still in the rescue.  He is a smart dog and very sweet. Just because a dog looks like a German Shepherd mix doesn't mean it is.  We found out that Ducky is actually mostly heeler.  That's OK he needed a place to land, and we had room. Story
💙Meet Redmont Redmont is a Australian Cattle Dog/Pittie mix named after the Birmingham neighborhood he wandered as a stray dog for at least a week, capturing the attention of all the residents. After outsmarting many neighbors who tried to catch him, he was finally captured when he followed another dog into a fenced-in yard. Although he was very scared of humans at the time, his love of other dogs helped lead him to a better place. 🐾 He’s been in a foster home for several months now, and with the help of professional assistance and dedicated foster parents, he has transformed from a skiddish dog scared of all humans into a dog who will approach people with his tail wagging.🐕‍🦺 His foster parents find it remarkable that even though he was so scared of them, he never once growled or snapped at them. He’s a very gentle, sweet dog who plays really well with the other dogs in his foster home. He would love to be adopted into a home with another dog, and would be fine with another dog who is more of the alpha. He’s looking for guidance from the other dogs around him, and will walk away when another dog corrects him. He may look muscular and tough, but he’s really a softy. Redmont is estimated to be about a year old. When he plays with other dogs, you can really see his youthful energy. But after playtime, he’s happy to chill and take a nap. This smart boy is completely house trained! Redmont loves going for walks, and walking was one of the biggest factors in his transformation. His foster parents want him to go to a home where his new family is committed to walking him daily (weather permitting). They also would prefer a home with a fenced yard. While he has improved so much in just a few months, certain noises still scare him and he might have the tendency to run away when scared. He is not an escape artist, though, so a fenced yard would be sufficient to keep him safe. Redmont’s foster mom wanted to document his journey for all the neighbors who became so invested in him, so she created an Instagram account (redmont_the_dog) for the neighbors to follow his progress. Please check it out if you want to get a better sense of how he has transformed into the special dog he is today. 🫶
