Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Tessie is a one-year-old Blue Heeler with a big heart packed into a petite 20-lb body. Like many Heelers, she forms a deep bond with her person and loves being close — she’s the ultimate little “Velcro dog.” Her favorite things include outdoor adventures, chew toys, exploring the yard, and then settling in for a cozy couch nap with her favorite human. Tessie is incredibly smart and will quickly learn a new routine, but she’ll do best with a patient adopter who will give her a little time and space to settle into her new home. Once she trusts you, her loyalty is unmatched. She also takes her job as yard supervisor very seriously and has the cutest little sassy strut when she’s feeling happy. While she prefers being out and about with her people, she can stay in a crate when needed.
