Story
Ahoy there! My name is Dinghy, but my friends call me Miles—because once I get comfortable, I’ll follow you for miles! I might be a little unsure when we first meet, but give me a little time, and you’ll see my happy, goofy side shine through. I’m a young adult pup with enough energy to keep up, but still likes to snuggle with my favorite peeps. I love to play fetch out in the secure fenced yard! I'm told I’ll need some positive training to become my best self, but one thing I’ve already got down? Keeping my house clean. Here, at the shelter, I've been living in the Junior VIP Suite and no messes from me! If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy who just needs a little patience to truly set sail, I’m your guy! ⛵

Story
Hi, I’m Ranger! I’m a young adult pup with lots of energy and love to give. I can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but once I warm up, my friendly side shines through. Since I haven’t had much training yet, I can get a bit mouthy when I’m excited or playing, so I’ll need a family willing to use patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement to help me learn. At the shelter, I’ve shown that I’ll likely do best as the only dog in the home, and because of my playful energy, a home without young children would be ideal. With the right guidance, I know I can grow into the wonderful family companion I’m meant to be!

Story
With a personality as strong as the one he is named after, eight-year-old Apollo is a legend all his own. He is full of fiery spirit and is eager to go and do almost everything. He is very handsome and knows just how charming he needs to be to win you over. When out in the yards, he runs all over with a smirk across his face, enticing those around to join the fun. One of his favorite activities is playing ball, showcasing his speed while proudly bringing the ball back, triumphantly. He loves adventures with his Satchel's Woof Pack leader; having an air conditioned truck ride, followed by a long walk to explore before heading back to the shelter. Toys are also a fun pasttime, squeakers or a good stuffed Kong with peanut butter keep this guy happy. Apollo can be affectionate, showing it in his own way by leaning up against your legs, and is always ready for scratches, but is not a fan of full on embracement. He has made several human friends here at Satchel's. With such a large personality, an experienced owner would be ideal for this exceptional dog. Adventure, excitement and a world of opportunity, Apollo would make a wonderful addition to the right home, come see for yourself at Satchel's Last Resort! For an appointment to meet Apollo, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will get back to you.

Adoption fee is FULLY WAIVED thanks to an anonymous donor!! Free, non-binding application must be submitted to secure an appointment at www.gofar.dog under "Adopt”!Hi I'm Tahoe! I'm a very good boy who landed at an over-capacity county shelter thru no fault of my own. Thankfully, Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue pulled me from that shelter and gave me the medical and general care I needed to be ready for my forever home. I appear to be a pointer and/or cattle dog mix estimated at around 2 years old, and recently weighed in at just over 50 lbs. I am friendly with dogs and people at the rescue. My one lingering issue is that I tested heartworm-positive and am currently undergoing treatment using the "slow kill" method, which will have to be continued by my adopters by administering oral meds. My rescue will cover the expenses for those medications and retesting until I test negative, which will happen in due time.My adoption fee has been fully waived thanks to a generous sponsor! I am up to date on my vaccines, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped, and ready to find my new home! If you are interested in adopting me, please complete an application at www.gofar.dog under Adopt. If you encounter any issues with our website, please email adoptions@gofar.dog.If you have questions, email my rescue at adoptions@gofar.dog. If you'd like to experience all the love I have, and want to make me part of your family, please complete the adoption application by pasting this link into your browser: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sm2546&method=online_form_html&formid=21

Story
Abby will be 5 years old in January. She needs to be an only pet. Not because she doesn’t like other dogs but because she does not want to share her person. Will show aggression towards dogs that get too close to her human. She definitely prefers a woman. She’s looking for a single woman, living alone and she would prefer them to be homebodies with a quiet lifestyle. If you have visitors she and they will be happier if she is put up til they leave. In exchange for you loving just her she will give you her undivided attention and will be your bodyguard. She is house broke. Knows commands and walks well on a leash Up to date with all vaccines and is heartworm negative. Non destructive and can be left out in a home. Loves puzzles and interactive toys. She is loved dearly but will not coexist with other dogs in house

Story
Meet Matt Murdock, approximately 16 week old, likely double merle puppy. He is visually impaired and deaf- but nobody told him! He is a spectacular puppy- gets along great with other dogs, kids, and people; will chase cats if they run- but gentle with them nonetheless, very well behaved, sweet and cuddly. Believe it or not- this guy doesn’t use or need a crate! He is about 90% house trained with the use of a belly band, and he entertainers himself by playing with toys and other dogs. He sleeps all night on the bed next to his person, and let you know if he needs to go outside. He is small and will likely remain on the smaller size becoming tall and skinny. He gets along great with other dogs both male and female and could definitely use an older sibling to play with and help guide him. He is learning to walk on a leash and is already picking it very quickly. This little guy is ready for his furever home and will make a great addition as a family dog, a fenced in yard is required since this little guy is deaf. Could consider apartment home in the right situation. If you would like to give these sweet little guy a furever home, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additioal $20 microchip fee which includes registration and tranfer to his new furever family and a REFUNDABLE $50 neuter deposit that will be refunded upon proof of procedure.

Story
We’re getting a divorce and Rosie is experiencing separation anxiety. Neither of us can keep her and she is suffering as a result. She’s a good girl. We got her as a puppy from the Marin County California Humane Society during the pandemic. We moved to SW Florida 3 days before Hurricane Ian and she handled that well. She gets anxious during 4th of July fireworks but tolerates anti anxiety medicine and wears a “Thunder Jacket” and does ok. When freaked out she’s an escape artist and will tear up doorway and associated drywall if left unattended. For this we put her in a mesh crate which she defeated immediately. We got her a slightly better crate which she was well on her way to defeating so we got her a fully aluminum crate which has proven to be escape proof. She does not like it one bit. It breaks our heart to surrender her but it’s best for her to find her a home that can provide her the stability she deserves.
