Story
With a personality as strong as the one he is named after, six-year-old Apollo is a legend all his own. He is full of fiery spirit and is eager to go and do almost everything. He is very handsome and knows just how charming he needs to be to win you over. When out in the yards, he runs all over with a smirk across his face, enticing those around to join the fun. His favorite activity is playing ball, showcasing his speed while proudly bringing the ball back, triumphantly. A close second is going on a nice long walk with some of our volunteers. He is in need of some leash training as he can pull at times, and he loves to play grab the leash when first putting it on. He will sit for treats, which has helped, and has shown he is very treat motivated. Toys are also a fun pasttime, squeakers or a good stuffed Kong with peanut butter keep this guy happy. Apollo can be affectionate, showing it in his own way by leaning up against your legs, and is always prompt for scratches, but is not a fan of full on embracement. He has been making more and more human friends, but is not to happy sharing space with other canine companions. With such a large personality, an experienced owner would be ideal for this exceptional dog. Adventure, excitement and a world of opportunity, Apollo would make a wonderful addition to the right home, come see for yourself at Satchel's Last Resort! For an appointment to meet Apollo, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will get back to you.

Story
SPECIAL NEEDS: Meet Warren! Warren came to Ewenity after he and his brother were abandoned on the side of the road. After they were rescued, it was discovered that Warren lost his hearing, possibly due to an untreated ear infection. It appears this same ear infection may also have had the long-term impact of causing him to have what appear to be psychomotor seizures. These are not what you typically think of as seizures, but present as “odd” behaviors (staring at walls and corners or spinning in circles, etc.) These have been significantly reduced with a high-quality CBD oil twice a day and as needed. Since Warren is deaf, and takes his cues differently, he’s also been remote collar trained, which makes non-visual and non-verbal communication with him possible. This handsome ACD is true to his breed and all about the activity and loves to “herd” his 4-legged friends. At about 1-1/2 to 2 years old, he’s agile, and athletic, and loves to snuggle. He’s up for all sorts of play time, but will also nap on your lap for hours. Warren will do best in a calm, consistent home. He comes with his e-collar as well as some meds as it is imperative his treatment is continued. The rescue will also provide training support. Warren does like his dog-friends, but would do best in a home with submissive, quieter dogs, and would also be fine in a home with no other dogs. We can’t wait to see Warren finally find his always and forever. Could you be the one for him? Story
Meet Washington! Washington is an interesting personality. He is very, very affectionate with people that he knows, and loves to roughhouse, wrestle and play but is extremely gentle when doing so. He loves to chase a ball, amuse himself with toys and is very active. He is wary of strangers initially, but greets well if not grabbed or touched roughly by a stranger. His person will need to introduce him to strangers, but it only takes a minute for him to warm up and want hugs. He gets along with other dogs and loves to play, but if bullied will stand up for himself and set the other dog straight without doing any harm. He is crate trained and house trained. His obedience is EXCELLENT. He knows "touch," "sit," "down," "off," "up" and "leave it." He will pull a bit on a leash if excited, but wears a Gentle Leader head collar and does well with it. He loves food (any kind will do), play, toys and long walks on the beach. Won't you be his companion? Apply at https://www.ewenityfarmsbch.com

Story
Meet Adonis, the sweetest good boy you could ask for! Adonis is around cats, other dogs, small children, and teenagers. He becomes wiggly and excitable when he sees our cats, so we DO NOT recommend a home with cats. Adonis is sweet on our children, and enjoys long games of fetch and chase. He is still a pup, so he needs a lot of play. In the evenings, he wants to be curled up in your lap on the couch. He has deep, sweet eyes and his fur is soft, like a fawn. He needs a family that will stimulate him, and enjoy lots of cuddles. Adonis is shy and timid initially, but once he gets comfortable, he settles right in and it’s like he’s been there the entire time. Highly recommend a fenced-in yard, or lots of open space away from roads. Stumpy tailed. UTD on shots. Neutered. Fostered in Pace Fl.

Story
Maverick is a very sweet 7 yr. old, 55 lb., neutered, Australian Cattle Dog mix. He was owner surrendered in Dec. 2023 because his family was moving and unable to take him. The shelter said the family had children and he got along well with them, but he has not been tested with children. As of Jan. 22, he moved into foster care in Gainesville, FL. He is crate trained, housetrained and easy on the leash. He looks forward to our morning and evening strolls around the neighborhood. Maverick responds to sit, stay, shake hands and down. He always waits for approval before coming into the house. His owners indicated he had obedience and agility training. He is well behaved inside our house. He is currently living with a small 14 yr old, female, Terrier/Spaniel mix. He is not food aggressive, and he is gentle when taking treats. He loves to cuddle, get belly scratches and play with his toys. Maverick is up to date on all vaccines, but he did test Heartworm Positive and then had an adverse reaction to the first Melarsomine injection. Treatment will now require that he be on a strict monthly heartworm prevention pill and have follow-up testing in Sept. Any new adopter will receive 3 months of medication to get started. If you'd like more information on Maverick, or to schedule a Meet and Greet, please contact ewenityfarmsbch.com and consider filling out an application to adopt and give this sweetheart the furever home he deserves!

Story
Meet Jackson, a 1 year old, 45 lb male Australian Cattle Dog mix who is crate trained, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date on shots. Jackson is a high energy dog and loves walks, runs, and to play fetch and frisbee. He knows basic obedience commands and is working on becoming solid with his obedience performance as well as loose leash walking and recall. If you like having a shadow Jackson would be perfect for you since he is a velcro dog and will follow you everywhere. Though Jackson has lots of energy he’s the sweetest cuddle bug! If he’s had a chance to burn off some energy he loves to snuggle while watching a movie so long as the ear scratches keep coming. Jackson is quite the ladies man but is a little shy with men. Maybe he thinks they will take his best gal. Jackson also enjoys playing with other dog friends after proper introductions have been made and he feels comfortable with his new friends.

Story
Abby is a young, active and initially shy red heeler that warms up to people quickly and is extremely affectionate. Since being in foster, Abby has learned basic commands and walks very nicely on leash. She visited a puppy class and enjoyed getting pets and treats from all the humans. Her confidence is growing every day! She is learning basic commands and is house-trained, crate trained and loves other dogs. She would be the perfect dog to keep an older dog young, or as a playmate for another active dog. She would also make a great companion to an outdoorsy, active person. Abby is currently being fostered in Panama City, FL

These pups are in Sarasota, Florida too!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Bindi! This super sweet girl is a very petite Australian Shepherd at just 38lbs. She's all wiggle and has one beautiful blue eye and one brown eye. Bindi is a recent mom to 4 puppies. She was found near the Florida/Georgia border with her puppies, taken to a shelter and then flown to us. She is now spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. In true Aussie fashion, Bindi is a bit of a nervous girl. She loves women and will stand up and hug you when she's feeling unsure of a situation. She can be nervous of men, but not all of the time. She is friendly with other dogs, but seems to be a bit inexperienced with them. She doesn't know how to play or interact yet, but she will get there! She just glues herself to her person :) She is completely housetrained and crate trained and does not mind being left in a crate while you are gone. She is so well behaved. She also rides great in the car and doesn't move around at all. A fenced yard is firm requirement for Bindi and another dog would be great and help her feel more confident. If you do not have an attached fenced yard, but have a fenced area to supplement that with daily, please send us an email to explain at info@love4pawsfl.org Bindi is in Tampa and her adoption fee is $400. Please complete an application here: https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adoption-process
