Story
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullName:  Ricky Breed: Heeler/Lab Mix Gender: Male Estimated DOB: November 5, 2021 Size: 51 lbs Location: Silver Creek, GA RESCUING RICKY... On 1/28/2022, Ricky was watched being dumped from a truck and then ran after the truck not understanding why anyone could dump a fluffy polka-dotted chested bundle of love. He was immediately picked up by a nice guy (who witnessed Ricky being dumped, along with his brother, Boss) with his kids, who Ricky absolutely adored at 1st sight.  ABOUT RICKY.. Our best guess is that Ricky is possibly a Heeler/Lab mix. His foster family says that he is the happiest pup around, always wagging his tail! Ricky is housebroken and crate trained.  Ricky is currently living on a farm with a multitude of animals including dogs, cats, chickens, and horses. He does best being fed in his kennel, due to being overprotective of his food towards the other dogs, but humans are not a problem. He also lives with 2 children ages 11 and 13.  Ricky is the type of dog that needs a securely fenced-in yard and another dog to run around and play with.  He has a lot of energy to burn and is very active and high-energy.  He will need more than just a quick walk and playtime in a yard, or unsupervised has been seen to dig some holes in the yard. He probably would do well with obedience & agility training to keep his mind working.  If you're a runner - he would make a good partner.  Ricky is a lot of fun and is a smart, outgoing, and goofy young boy.  He absolutely loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back to you.  He is super smart and learns quickly.  He walks well on a leash and his foster mom is still working with him on this.  He gets super excited and can become a handful when he sees other dogs on a leash because he wants to get to them to sniff, check them out, and play.  He knows multiple commands including sit, wait, gentle, enough, and waiting for his food.  He loves riding in the car and just lounges out and enjoys the ride.  Ricky's perfect home would be a family that has the time and energy to devote to Ricky and he really needs another dog and a fenced yard.  He would do well with children 10 years and older too.  When the day settles down this boy is going to want to be snuggled all up with you.  He plays hard and snuggles hard!  He is a true joy at his foster home and they love him to pieces but we know there is a wonderful family out there that could use all the love this sweet boy has to give!   ADOPTING RICKY... Ricky is neutered, current on all vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped.  He is also on preventative monthly.  His adoption fee is $300.00.  We do offer a 2 week Foster-To-Adopt trial period before fully adopting to make sure that he is the perfect match for your family.  If you are interested in meeting Ricky to see if he is a good fit for your family, please complete an online Adoption Application at  https://www.friendstotheforlorn.org/adoption-application/.     If you have any questions, please email  adopt@friendstotheforlorn.org .   www.savingpitbulls.orgMay 25, 2023, 9:21 pm

While this may seem unfair, we would hate to give someone hints about how to lie on an application for another rescue so that they were approved.  For example, if someone stated that they had 47 dogs seized by animal control in the past, and we told them that was the reason they were denied, they would know to leave that off the application the next time.  Most denials are not  for such extreme reasons, but our board has decided to put this policy in place for this reason. We also post updates on our Facebook page, so please make sure you have liked our page and are following it so that you will see the updates.  You can also go to our page to see other pictures or videos of our dogs.  https://www.facebook.com/hootieshaven   ##1669568##
