Story
This perfect gem, no pun intended, is Diamond. She is currently living in a foster home as the shelter environment was very stressful to her, but boy, oh boy, is she thriving and doing absolutely amazing now! Here's a note from her foster mom: "Diamond is a very well-behaved pup! She LOVES to snuggle and wants to be right by her person at all times if she can. She lives to please and nothing makes her happier than affection and praise from her person. She is food-motivated but doesn't go nuts for it. However, she will willingly train for just her kibble! She goes into her crate easily when asked and sleeps calmly and quietly through the night without any complaints. Although, I'm sure she would be a great cuddlebug in your bed if you want that. No house-training accidents inside so far, even for pretty long stretches. She likes to tear apart her toys, but has not been destructive with anything that isn't explicitly hers. She adores her Kong and puzzle feeders; she's super smart and loves a good challenge. She does like to sit and watch while you eat, but she is very respectful and doesn't beg excessively. Diamond is an energetic girl and exercise and mental stimulation. She really likes the long slow walks where she can sniff to her heart's content, but will also stay with you and be your running buddy if you want to up the pace! She loves to play fetch. She also went on a 4-day backpacking trip with me and did amazingly well; carried her own pack, cuddled up in the tent at night, and kept me and my best friend feeling safe the whole time. She does have some reactivity to strangers if she is in a small enclosed space (her crate, the car, etc.), but we are working on it and she's improving every day. She will also bark at people who pull into the driveway or come up to the door, but I personally feel safer with a dog that does that! She is a little wary of strangers coming into her home at first and takes a bit to warm up to someone new, but if you just ignore her and give her space she settles with no issue. She seems to slightly prefer women over men. She pulls a little on the leash but is very quickly learning to keep a loose leash, and she does wonderfully on a no-pull harness. She does like to get into the trash so you'll need a trash can with a lid or to move the trash into a different room which is no big deal! She should probably go to a cat-free household due to her prey drive, but I do have a cat and with consistent careful training she has made amazing progress in that regard as well! No fear of thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. She knows to sit, lay down, stay, crate, leave it, "off" (get down from the couch, bed, etc.), "hey" (give eye contact) and "come here" (recall). Her recall isn't perfect but is also greatly improving. She is a Velcro dog and always wants to be with you, so she's got a natural tendency to not want to stray far. She is also currently learning to wait at the open door until given a release word of "okay". As a single woman, she makes me feel very safe! She protects the house, always keeps an eye on me. She's very tuned into her handler." Diamond ignores dogs beautifully when out and about. She redirects simply just to please. She also has done well with some playful, non-reactive & friendly male pups. We think she'd be happiest having all of someone's attention to herself, but if your resident dog is a good boy and is easy-going with other dogs, he may be a great furbrother to Diamond. We would suggest older children, probably about 12ish and up. If you want one of the world's most loyal dogs to be your literal adventure and hiking buddy, Diamond is waiting for you. She is about four years old, weighs about 50ish pounds, and is spayed. If you are wanting to adopt her, please call us at 219-872-4499.

Story
Hootie is one of our sanctuary dogs. He is at a foster home. He has been with us 2 1/2 years and he is now 5 years old. His owner moved to chicago and Hootie, an already fearful dog could not handle the traffic, horns and city life. The owner could not walk him on the chicago streets.  When Hootie came to us our intention was to put him up for adoption right away. This did not happen because he was so scared here at first. Hootie is still a scared dog , but not with us. We really need to find him a home. He craves love and attention, which he gets here, although he must share it with the other dogs. He really needs his own human. He sleeps in the bed at night. He is a house dog, our Sanctuary Dogs are all in foster homes.  He is housbroken. He is a sweet, loving and a wonderful boy. When he gets to know you he will always being lying at your side, or try to get on your lap. He is good with other dogs, however he seldom plays. He just wants his humans. He lays under his fosters desk when she is working. He is always there by her side.  He will be EXTREMELY scared when he goes to a new home. It took him a couple of weeks to come around. He is available under our Foster to Adopt Program. He needs someone home during the day. He will never be a social butterfly, he will always be a homebody. If you travel or go on vacations he can't be boarded or go along with you. He would need a dog sitter to come to your home. Hootie cannot be in a home with lots of activity. Any noise or quick moves scares him, where he will jump and look around. He will hide from strangers . He needs a quiet home with one or two people that will be his forever family. He is a homebody. . He is calm, quiet and very well behaved.  He would do best in a home with no children living in the house, or a home with teens. If anyone comes to visit he will just go and hide until he knows them. He does not bite or growl, he is very submissive, just scared of new things and new people.  He needs a secure fenced in yard. Someone who is home such as a healthy active retired couple because can live another 10-12 years. His new family must live no farther than 50 miles away from Grovertown, Indiana. We would want you to come and meet him here, and if it goes good we will need to bring him to your house. It may take a couple of visits if we feel he needs to get to know you better. We are in no rush for him to leave. We need to find the right home for him. Hooties adoption fee is $100. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##671776##

Story
Dutch Billy Boy came to us from a kill shelter in Kentucky  where he ended up by no fault of his own. This is a nice, friendly boy who is good with people & other dogs. He is very sweet, happy but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building because he does have times of anxiety. His approx. birth date is 10/10/18 and he currently weighs 22#. We are guessing at his breed make up. This guy will not be placed with children and he will need structure in his new home. UPDATE - I am in a foster home & house trained! He graduated from obedience class, but needs a very consistent owner who will follow through on daily routine. He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He also tested heart worm negative. His adoption donation is $250 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card. We do not ship or transport. Please email for an application if you would like to provide this nice kid with his forever home. ##859533##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Levi!Levi is an 1 1/2 year old neutered male Cattle Dog! Currently 28 lbs most likely will be closer to 40 lbs when fully grown. Levi is a very nervous boy. It takes a while for him to build up trust with a person. For the first 3 weeks I was unable to touch him but now he’s able to take cookies from my hand, allow me to pet him, and hang out on the couch with him! Now that’s he’s coming out of his shell he’s finally becoming a naughty baby puppy! I’ve been loving watching him steal shoes, throw toys in the air, and try to sneak snacks. Levi will do much better in a home with another dog. He likes to build relationships with other dogs which makes it easier for him to open up to people! He gets along with every dog he’s ever met! He’s your typical pushy baby Cattle Dog. He likes to push everyone’s buttons but is receptive to corrections from dogs and verbal redirecting from people! Once out of his shell he’s the sweetest boy. He likes to chase toys, play in the water, and wrestle with his friends! Levi had an injury to his rear left leg which has since healed but his hair is still growing back! Levi is searching for an active family who likes to go on walks, hike, and play in the yard! He does have a fence requirement as he has proven himself to be a fence jumper when scared. He will need to be supervised in the yard. He is looking for a patient family who will help him blossom. Levi was brought in with his litter from a backyard breeder in Western OH and is now being fostered in Plymouth, IN. Please contact cripecasey@gmail.com  if you have any questions about Levi.  You can complete an application to adopt Levi or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org  .    ***  The potential adoptor will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them, if we do not process their application.
